Black rose silky surrender - restraints discontinued by Doc Johnson - review by Airen Wolf

For those players looking for an alternative to rope to bind up a loved one the Black Rose Silk Surrender Tie by Doc Johnson is a great alternative. You won't want to cut these ties like you would rope and the knots in the silk come out pretty easily, which is just a function of the silk and the way it is sewn. Still it feels soft, luxurious, silky and expensive on the skin and can make for a really sensual experience. To my mind this sort of tie is perfect for positional restraint such as: trapping the arms by the sides, restraining the calves to the thighs, or even a hogtie! There's something wicked about being bound for a flogging with a silky, sensual tie. The contrast between pleasure and pain is delicious!

The tie consists of a 10 foot long piece of purple silk, and it is folded to about 2 inches across. All the edges are completely and evenly finished before being folded a second time and stitched down. This is not a piece that will ravel with use and the silk doesn't "crush" becoming permanently wrinkled after being tied in knots. There is enough length that you can do a bit of wrapping or mummification but to get a real binding going you'd have to have two to three ties. At this price point it would be worth getting them!

As you can see the tie arrive in a beautiful, heavy cardboard box. The model is super sexy but there's no denying what's going on! The tie, itself, is wrapped over a lighter piece of cardboard and then sealed with cellophane. The box is way bigger than the tie and would take up loads of storage space. On the other hand the entire line, except the flogger, can fit in one of the boxes.

The one thing that was missing on this tie was the signature faux leather black rose that comes on each piece of the rest of the set. While I did miss it, because I love the look of the rose, I didn't miss the bulk it would have added to the tie no matter where it was placed.

One of the best features of this silk tie is the beautiful edges where the tie comes to a point. Rather than being bulky with fabric the ends are sleek, well turned and light. They look amazing when tied in a bow and I was able to create a very pretty "present" of myself for Arch to open when he came to visit! There was enough fabric to wrap around my breasts and cover my crotch, before wrapping up near my shoulders in a lovely bow. A slow pull of a silky end and the whole thing slithered off my body with a silky sigh.


The color of this tie is bright and has a sheen that catches the light, especially fire/candle light. I was worried that the silk would be easy to snag or would wrinkle so badly it would look like a mess after a few uses. My nails are usually ragged but they never caught on the fabric.

Doc Johnson recommends washing the tie by hand and allowing it to drip dry. I found that this method was about the only thing you should ever have to do! I imagine that putting it in a lingerie bag on gentle cycle would be fine but I really like the look of this tie and didn't want to risk it. I definitely wouldn't dry it in a dryer. If you want to quickly blot it dry: fold the tie in half and then wrap it in a soft, absorbent towel. Squeeze the towel and then unwrap. It should be nearly dry, to smooth out the wrinkles use an iron on the silk setting or place the damp towel between the iron and silk tie.

This tie is perfect for players who worry about being able to escape in an emergency as the knots don't tighten down like they can with rope. The silky finish of the tie as well as the double thickness prevent permanent wrinkling. It would also be perfect for players who like solo bondage!

I bought the entire Black Rose set as soon as it was offered on EdenFantasys and I haven't been as happy with a purchase as I am with this one in a long time. The entire set is well thought out and works so well together! The Rosie Restraints worked well to restrain my hands, while my legs were wrapped in luxury and held immobile by the Silky Surrender Tie. Really? Could a girl complain about a night like that?

Soft, silky and still looks like they are brand new despite some washing, ironing and frequent use. The stitching is still even, tight and I am not noticing any raveling.

These ties are great for body bondage, though you might want a couple of sets if you want more coverage.

All in all, even though these aren't the highest end and most fear inducing restraints, they are kinda great and provide a great juxtaposition between soft and sweet and mean as hell!
