Leather hog tie - restraints discontinued by Kinklab - review by Dawn (Lilac Distraction)

Hogties are consider to be an intermediate to advanced BDSM restraint technique because they bind the wrists and ankles together behind the back. This is an intense immobilization and has the possibility of being uncomfortable for the restrained which is what makes it far above a beginner skill level. Hogties will leave the restrained participant face down or on their side. This position should be avoided by anyone suffering from problems in the joints or muscles.

A balltie, on the other hand, is slightly less intense, as the wrists and ankles are bound towards the front of the person making this much more comfortable and much like a fetal position. This allows for the restrained participant to have the option of sitting upright which allows for greater movement and control. This position may be suitable for beginners with a little bit of experience under their belts.

Kinklab's hogtie strap is heavy duty and made of high quality materials, so it is a serious piece of equipment. The versatility of the design allow it to be utilized by players of all levels. Beginners can attach velcro, velvet, or fur lined cuffs that are easy to get out of to each of the four connectors, while advanced players can use sturdier leather restraints that can't be escaped from. This strap does not include the cuffs which allow the user to find the best ones to meet their needs.

I own quite a lot of gear by Kinklab and I've always been impressed. This was my first real experience with their leather goods and I was highly pleased and quite impressed by the quality. The striking red color and chrome metal hardware make a bold statement and has a look of luxury to it. Using black or white cuffs adds a different spin on the look of it all and created a stunning visual display.



The straps are made of a thick and sturdy leather that is pliable and slightly soft but still strong. The top sides of each of the straps are a classy polished edge leaving a raw edge on the bottom. Each measures about 3" long and cannot be adjusted, so it's a "one size fits all" piece of gear. The hardware is fantastic and sturdy. The crab claw hooks are super heavy duty and much nicer than I was expecting. They're easy to open and close in a snap. The O-ring in the middle is incredibly thick and seems as thought it would be virtually impossible to break. This is a super sturdy and durable piece of gear that's incredibly attractive. You can't go wrong here. The quality is something I would expect from Aslan Leather and would have paid double for.

This hogtie strap is super easy to use. Grab yourself two sets of cuffs with D-rings.

Attach the cuffs to the wrists and ankles and help your partner get into position. The snap hooks make getting everything set up incredibly easy and quick, and also allow for speedy freeing should you need to quickly escape. The hooks do also rotate so that there's a little more movement allowed in the wrists and ankles which helps to add a little to the comfort level. Once hooked together, the wrists and ankles are less than a foot apart for some serious hogtie action. This may get a little uncomfortable for taller folks, but for shorties like me (I'm 5'5) it worked just fine. While restrained in the hogtie there is very little movement allowed. Any movement of the wrists reflects on the legs

This hogtie can be utilized in several different scenes. It allows for access to the genitals and face while in use so you can play all sexy like. It adds a touch of humiliation to the scene. The only thing it may limit is impact play because the wrists and ankles are tied together so you don't have access to the back or butt, but you can always take that cane and tap the bottom of the feet. Drives them wild!

I'm still sitting here thinking of different ways to utilize this strap because it seems as though it would work for a few things. Other than the basic hogtie position, you can also work this into a balltie type position by attaching the strap to the cuffs in front of the body. If you're lucky enough to have two players at your disposal you can use this to connect them both together. Have them stand back to back with wrist cuffs on and there you go!

Leather does take a little love to keep it in the best condition. It can't be sterilized so keep that in mind while you're playing. If needed, wipe it down with a slightly damp cloth. Keep it away from excess moisture that will damage the leather. Store it out of heat and direct sunlight. Tucked away in a drawer, toybox, or closet in a plastic bag is a great way of storing it. If your leather starts to dry out you can apply a leather conditioner to help keep it soft and moisturized.

I love Kinklab's packaging because it makes for a great storage solution and is attractive, too! The hogtie strap comes in a clear circular tube with a lid that pops on and off. Sometimes putting it back on can be a little tricky because the plastic of the tube is a little thin and likes to not cooperate with the lid, but it's nothing that's too complicated.
