Flame harness kit - harness and dildo set discontinued by Tantus - review by VelvetDragon

This harness kit is often suggested for beginners, and when we purchased it, it was our first strap-on harness. However, we've had it for many years now, and it is still does the job for us!

It is definitely designed for a female-bodied wearer as it sits very low on the mons. This is definitely a plus to me because it puts the dildo in a very natural place as if the wearer has their own penis, rather than sitting higher on the abdomen like many strap-on harnesses. However, it means that it would not work for most male-bodied wearers.

This kit comes with a plush, purple velvet and nylon harness, a moderately sized, shimmering, 100% silicone dildo, beautifully sculpted along half its length with a gentle flame texture, and a bullet vibe which fits into a pocket and rests over the wearer's clit.

The velvet is double layered (both on the wearer's side and the side that holds the dildo) and padded in-between for a very cushy feel! I find the nylon straps can be a little rough at the edges, but I am an extremely sensitive person to textures. Once involved in some steamy play, I usually forget I'm wearing it! The harness is also free of animal-sourced materials which makes it appropriate for vegetarians and vegans.

The dildo is fairly firm and measures 1.5" in diameter. The "head" of the dildo is slightly wider than the shaft and has a very slight curve.

The bullet vibe, which fits in the pocket of the harness, is smooth plastic, and takes watch batteries.

The harness has held up well after years of play without fraying of the velvet, and it has no issues whatsoever with the straps or snaps.

This harness is amazingly adjustable and can fit a wide variety of body types. It does have straps that will hang down quite a bit if not adjusted to the largest size (hip size of 60 inches). These could be cut off, sewn, or tucked under - though I have never bothered doing so. This harness stays firmly in place at any size it is adjusted to.



As it uses a loose o-ring, you could replace it to fit any of your chosen dildos with no problem! As it stands, it hold a variety of dildo sizes amazingly well because the harness holds the toy so firmly against the backing of the harness when properly adjusted, and the velvet has a grippy surface for most silicone toys. I have used it with dildos smaller than the Flame many times without replacing the o-ring and without any issues of slipping.

I did not find the small bullet vibe particularly useful. I generally like a lot of oomph to my vibes, and this tiny bullet is rather weak in the power department. I also didn't like the feel of it bumping against me during thrusting. However, the harness does effectively position it right over the wearer's clit for many female-bodied users.

The size is amazingly versatile. My body size has definitely changed since I first got this toy, and it still fits quite well. At any size, it seems quite stable and unlikely to shift around.

This harness is a slip-on type harness; you step through the leg straps and pull it up then tighten the straps as needed. I find it extremely easy and fast to put on.

I am in a committed polyamorous triad (a three-person relationship) and have used this harness for penetrating both my male and female partners. It worked equally well for both! I have used it in several different positions as well -- on my back with my partner straddling me ("cowgirl"/"cowboy"), from behind (both "doggy style" and with my partner lying beneath me), and missionary. The harness held the dildo secure and steady through everything I've thrown at it.

Because of the velvet texture and the interchangeable o-ring, I've found that it was extremely secure in how it held toys. I did not have issues with any of the toys I've used in it slipping if the harness was snugly adjusted.

To put a toy in, I've typically just slipped it through the back of the o-ring before putting the harness on; this has served extremely well and is very easy to do.

I am very sensitive, and the edges of the nylon are typical edges of nylon webbing -- a little bit rough. However, I have never had a problem with actual chafing, and once things are going on, I usually forget all about the texture. Overall, it is very comfortable; the velvet is nice and padded and soft against the wearer's mons.

My partners have said it is quite comfortable on the receiving end, as well, without uncomfortable chafing or roughness.

If you do not trim the straps or otherwise secure them, they can be a little distracting. However, that is fairly easily fixed, and the fact that they make the harness is so adjustable more than makes up for it.

One exception for me was using the harness with the bullet vibe. I did not like the hard lump bumping against me during thrusting play. My female partner, however, liked using it with the vibe, so your mileage may vary!

The 100% silicone toy is easy to clean and disinfect. It can be washed with silicone-safe toy cleaner, soap and water, in the top rack of the dishwasher, and can be boiled for 3-5 minutes or disinfected with an alcohol solution. The slight texture does not make cleaning at all difficult.

I am not sure if they recommend machine-washing for the harness, but after taking out the rubber o-ring, I have thrown mine in the washer (cold water) and dryer (on low) many times without ill effect.


For washing, I remove the rubber o-ring, and snap the straps to each other, so that they don't come out of the harness and get tangled during washing. I find putting harnesses back together kind of confusing, so this saves me the trouble.

The o-ring is rubber; to clean it I use soap and water or a toy cleaner.

This is one of my favorite toys of any I own and certainly my very favorite toy for partner play. There's nothing I love more than using the harness to make love to my female partner or peg my male partner. Being able to change out to any dildo means I can give my partner exactly what they want - whether it's girthy or slender, long or short, curved or straight.

Particularly since the harness holds the dildo so naturally low, I feel amazing when I am wearing it - as if I have my own penis. Although not the most unobtrusive of harnesses, this feature makes it ideal for functional gender play for me.
