Reflections amber - dildo discontinued by Doc Johnson - review by RavingSockMonkey

Reflections Amber's thumbnail image may not inspire a second glance, but I urge you to look at the more detailed photos. This toy is absolutely beautiful! Thankfully, it's more than just a pretty face in the crowd. Reflections provides two different experiences, depending on which end you use, in addition to the fun associated with a glass toy. Warm up with the more tapered end for a gentle, wavy ride. Switch it up by using the bulbous end for a nice popping and filling sensation that will hit your sensitive spots.

Reflections is a pyrex glass dildo. It has no funky taste or smell, and it is smooth to the touch. It is completely body-safe, with the exception of having to be aware that glass does not flex and thus can bruise.

This toy features an amber-colored swirl throughout the length as well as a rainbow, reflective glaze. The rainbow effect is much like a bubble or a puddle of oil.



Some glass toys feature stimulation in the form of a lot of bumps, ridges, or other textures. Reflections Amber forgoes these for a rippling, waved shaft. Don't let this dissuade you! Those waves are enough to feel amazing during penetration and thrusting.

The above picture is darker to show off the rainbow sheen. In bright direct light it's a bit more subtle, but in lower light you can really see the beauty of it!

As you can see, Reflections Amber is absolutely beautiful. Neither it's shape nor design directly scream "sex toy", so you could probably leave it out without raising too many eyebrows. This makes it a bit more discrete than some dildos as you can pass it off as interesting art piece.

Size-wise it's shorter than the Topsy Turvy, though it likely has more in the way of insertable length. The bulbous end seems a touch bigger than TT's head, which may be due in part to the lack of taper.



The more tapered end of this dildo should be fine for most users, but the rounder end may be a challenge for beginners. I recommend trying it though, because the sensation is phenomenal!




The bulbous end in my palm. I'm 5'3" with a size 4 1/2 ring finger, so my hands aren't exactly huge. Still, it should give you an idea of how large the biggest end is.

Glass toys are awesome because of the variety of sensations you can get from them. All of mine are different, and this makes them stand out a bit more for me than your average sex toy. One thing to note is that glass is rigid! I personally love this feeling, but if you prefer something with squish, then glass might not be for you. Even so, I'd still say pick a smaller one to try.

This toy, like other glass toys, can be cooled or warmed for temperature play. Don't subject it to extreme temperature differences, however! Doing so could cause your toy to break. Try putting it in the fridge or warming it up in hot water before use.

Reflections can also become very slippery when lubed up, so hang on tight! The rounded end makes for a great grip, but if that's the end you have inserted then you may find it harder to hold. You should experience minimal drag because of how smooth it is.

The firmness and having the two different ends make Reflections Amber a fun one to pick up when I want to be able to switch things around without pulling everything out of the toy box.

Glass toys are super easy to take care of! You can boil them, put them in the top rack of your dish washer (without soap!), or just simply wash them with warm water and soap. They are also compatible with all types of lubes, so have fun!

Storing it will be the biggest challenge. You want to have it in a place where it won't bang up against anything and potentially break. Unfortunately, Doc Johnson didn't provide a storage pouch with this, so I would recommend either finding one, making one, or wrapping it up in an old towel or t-shirt.

You could do what I mentioned above and just leave it out. It makes a sexy paper weight!

The toy was stored in a basic and rather flimsy plastic box, snuggled-up in a plastic insert. It was a touch hard to get out of the insert, and once I did, the box went straight to recycling. It was too annoying to use for storage.

The package isn't what I would consider discrete. Everyone will know what you got. If you want it to be a bit less obvious, then it would be easier to take it out of its box and pack it in something else. If gift giving, then I recommend buying a pouch for it.

Reflections Amber could be considered two toys in one. You've got the gently tapered end, which provides a nice rippling sensation, and you've got the rounded end for a nice pop. Both feel great during penetration and while thrusting, but the bulbous end feels best. It stimulated my g-spot and felt wonderful over-all. If you want to save on space, then grab this dildo so you can experience both ends.

I get more pleasure from penetration than clitoral play, so the glass dildos are awesome for me. I love the rigid, unyielding feeling inside of me. I also love the different sensations they can provide due to shape and texturing. This and Topsy Turvy are my two smoothest toys. I love Reflections for when I want two different feelings, but don't want all the bumps and ridges that some of my other glass beauties have.
