Bubbles - probe discontinued by Jollies LLC - review by Selective Sensualist

Though endearingly cute, Bubbles is a hard worker whose one goal in life seems to be to service and please. As my husband and I quickly discovered, his slouching posture is perfectly curved to reach and stimulate both the vaginal G-spot AND the prostate. Whether used vaginally or anally, upon insertion, every single one of his five well-defined bubbles provide a pleasant "pop." When used anally, the "neck" in between each bubble provides a resting point while you prepare to take the next, slightly larger, bubble. Used vaginally, the undulating swells of each bubble massage and stimulate the vaginal opening. The graduated bubbles also provide varying diameters to provide a fun variance for clenching your PC muscles during Kegel exercises.

Since I don't yet own a harness, I cannot attest to how well Bubbles performs as a strap-on dildo. The base is rather small, thin, and flexible, which may present challenges in keeping it stable and erect. However, if you can find a small enough O-ring to secure it, Bubbles would look absolutely adorable as a whimsical strap-on!

Bubbles is made of 100% silicone, which is one of the most body-safe materials on the sex toy market. Silicone is non-porous and therefore does not harbor bacteria, fungi, or viruses. It is also phthalate-, toxin-, allergen-, taste-, and odor-free. These qualities earn it a 10 out 10 on EdenFantasys' material safety chart.

Jollies is well known for using an extremely firm, premium-quality platinum silicone. When squeezing each of Bubbles' smooth "bubbles" between my thumb and fingers as hard as I can, there is only the very slightest amount of give. The silicone of all of my Jollies toys (Bubbles, Jollie, Thrust, and Jack) is firmer than the silicone of my Tantus, Fun Factory, and Ophoria toys (though it is not quite as firm as my LELO Ella nor the insertable portion of my LELO Bob -- neither of which give at ALL when I squeeze them).

In terms of silicone firmness (from MOST FIRM to LEAST FIRM/PLUSH), I rate the brand names of my toys as follows:

Jollies Bubbles definitely falls into the much firmer range of silicone toys that is on the market. However, while the bubbles on this probe are extremely firm, the thin base is quite flexible. I can easily fold the base in on itself so that the opposite sides of the base touch.



Similarly, the "neck" between each bubble flexes quite readily so that I am able to straighten Bubbles' "posture" out of his curving slouch.



It is also possible to bend him into a more extreme curve.



This flexibility translates into some wonderfully forgiving leeway for thrusting Bubbles without fear of injury. Though Bubbles does have some flexibility, he is a born "sloucher." So, when you bend him, he exerts pressure in an attempt to regain his curve. This pressure is felt internally, so you can easily direct it to your desired sweet spots.

Like most silicone, Bubbles can be a lint magnet and he exerts a drag upon the skin when sliding your finger down the length of him or when trying to insert him without lube. While silicone does not absorb odors, odors can certainly cling to the surface, particularly after anal use (sometimes even despite a vigorous washing with antibacterial soap and then boiling). If you experience this problem, simply leave Bubbles to air out in an open space for a few days after cleaning and the odor will eventually dissipate.

I ordered my Bubbles in the pink color and, from the photo on the product page, I expected a shiny, pearlescent, bubblegum pink. Instead, the color that I received is much lighter: my Bubbles is a very light blush pink. It is also more matte in appearance than glossy and, as for the pearlescent appearance in the stock photo, the sparkles are noted only upon closer inspection. Bubbles must be extremely photogenic because, in the photos that I took of him myself, his color appears much deeper and he looks much more shiny and pearlescent than he appears in person.

Though I was a bit disappointed with his lighter color, Bubbles definitely charmed me with his other attributes -- including his delightfully playful shape.

Bubbles's bubbles are stacked in such a way that they create a very defined curve that makes him seem as though he should topple over when stood upon his base. Almost magically, however, he stands quite stably. His curve is obviously designed with G- and P-spot stimulation in mind; indeed, it is in stimulating these spots that Bubbles really sparkles and shines!



I absolutely love the design of Bubbles! There are a total of five extremely defined and round bubbles of gradually increasing diameters.

According to my own personal measurements, the first -- and smallest -- bubble is approximately 1 1/4 inches in diameter before tapering in to a 5/8 inch diameter neck.

The second bubble is about 1 3/8 inches in diameter and its neck has a diameter of around 3/4 inch.

The diameter of the third bubble measures approximately 1 1/2 inches, tapering down to a neck of about 1 inch.

The fourth -- and largest -- bubble is around 1 5/8 inches in diameter. Its neck is about 1 inch in diameter.

Finally, the fifth bubble measures about 1 1/2 inches in diameter. It tapers to a 3/4 inch diameter neck.

I think the design would be much more stable if the last bubble was only a half bubble attached to a thicker, larger-diameter base. This would make Bubbles much more harness-friendly.

The base itself is 2 inches in diameter and the outer rim is barely over 1/4 of an inch thick. There is a small 1/2 inch diameter hole molded into the base of the probe that is designed to hold a bullet.



I personally do not own any bullets, save for a G-spot one that is larger than average and which does not even come close to fitting into the hole. From what I have read in other reviews, the hole will not even hold an average-sized bullet. It seems as though only a mini bullet might fit. At any rate, for any bullet to fit, it will need to be 1/2 inch in diameter or less. However, if you have a powerful vibrator (such as the Hitachi Magic Wand), you can hold it to the base of Bubbles and his firm silicone transmits the vibrations extremely well.

While this probe stands at 6 1/2 inches tall, when it is measured alongside the curve from the top of the base to the tip, there are 7 inches of insertable length. Since this toy is not overwhelmingly huge (and is also lightweight and non-breakable), it would be quite easy to pack in a suitcase for travel.

There is a slightly visible seam along the outer edge of each bubble that runs up and down the length of the toy. This seam is not felt by me when used vaginally, but my husband said he could feel it very faintly during use while massaging his prostate, though he said it was not painful at all.

Due to its graduated shape, this toy would probably work well for those new to vaginal penetration, though the repeated "pop" from each of the bubbles might warrant gentle maneuvering until you get used to the sensation.

While the material of this toy is technically smooth in texture, the shapes of the bubbles provide a unique tactile sensation. Despite the fact that I am not at all a "texture queen," I found the shape to be very stimulating instead of painful. Therefore, I would rate the "texture" created by the shapes of Bubbles' bubbles to be moderate. If used gently during more leisurely sessions, I think Bubbles would be fun even for those just beginning to experiment with sex toys.

On the other hand, when used anally, Bubbles is definitely more for the intermediate or advanced anal explorer, rather than for the beginner. While this toy is a bit much for me as an anal toy, my husband had no problem using it. The first two or three times he played with it, he was only able to take the first three bubbles. Around the fourth use, however, he was able to work up to taking the fourth (and largest) bubble. He used it mainly as a probe to gently stimulate his prostate, thrusting only occasionally and gently.

If you asked me what the very best thing about Bubbles is, I would reply that it is his shape (of course)! The angle of his curve has been absolutely perfect for targeting my G-spot and my husband's P-spot. But Bubbles does not simply target our sweet spots and ineffectively rub against them like some softer materials sometimes do. Instead, we have found Bubbles' silicone to be firm enough for extremely effective stimulation. Plus, his graduated and precisely defined stacked bubbles are an absolute delight for reveling in unique sensations. I am thrilled to own a toy that combines such a delicious curve with graduated round shapes of significant diameter. It is truly a rare combination.

As previously mentioned, I have reservations about how well Bubbles would perform in a harness due to his rather small and flexible base. But I will definitely follow up in a later review with a full report on this if I can ever get my hands on a harness!

Being made of silicone, Bubbles is a breeze to clean with hot, soapy water or toy cleaner. While you will certainly need to pay attention to the crevices between each bubble, it is hardly a tedious chore if you wash him directly after use since dried lube and bodily fluids can become much harder to remove when dry.

You can also easily disinfect him between partners or after anal use by boiling for at least three minutes, by washing on the top shelf of the dishwasher (sans soap), or by soaking in a 10% bleach solution. You will also want to disinfect him after anal play before using him vaginally, unless you use a condom.

Since silicone can be a lint magnet, you might want to store Bubbles in some type of bag. A plastic Ziplock bag or a toy pouch would work. Or you could simply keep him in an enclosed bin with other 100% silicone toys (though silicone is also safe to store with glass, metal, wood, and ceramic -- just make sure there are no sharp objects to cut the silicone).

You definitely want to make certain that you keep all silicone toys (including Bubbles) away from toys made from TPR, TPE, elastomer, jelly, Cyberskin, Superskin, and all other materials of that nature since the chemicals in these materials will want to bond to your lovely silicone toy. These types of chemical reactions will make the toys made from these less stable materials appear as though they are melting. Such reactions will ruin both toys: the toy made from the less stable material will become deformed and the silicone toy will have another toy stuck to it -- possibly even permanently.

Speaking of chemical reactions, it is advisable to use only water-based lube with silicone toys. The silicone in lube is in a different chemical state than the silicone in toys and will want to bond to the toy, leaving behind a permanently tacky surface. I have heard of other reviewers successfully using a high-quality silicone lube on silicone toys (though they did mention it being somewhat difficult to clean off). If you are determined to try this, I urge you to first do a spot-test on an obscure area of the toy to see how it responds.

Bubbles arrived packaged in a small, clear plastic box in which he barely fit! In fact, only a piece of tape prevented him from bursting out of the plastic package like a Jack-in-the-Box, as his top bubble had been pressed downward in order to get the box to shut.

There were no instructions included (though for a simple probe they are not really needed). The wording was minimal -- stating only Bubbles' name and the fact that he is made of 100% Premium Platinum Silicone.

While the box is too small and too flimsy to be suitable for long-term storage, it is reasonably suitable for giving as a gift, so long as it is wrapped or placed inside a decorative gift bag. Since Bubbles is completely visible in all his effervescent glory through the clear plastic, the packaging is far from discreet. You should, however, be able to dispose of the packaging without raising any eyebrows -- particularly if you peel off the clear sticker which specifies only the innocent-sounding product name and the material.

I have already described the tactile delight and wonderful G-spot stimulation that Bubbles provided me when used vaginally, but I wanted to go a bit more into detail about my husband's experiences with this toy.

We have many glass wands and silicone toys that my husband has found to be great for prostate stimulation, but he was absolutely astounded by Bubbles' performance: each time he has used this toy, it has produced a gushing flow of prostate ejaculate -- much more than he has ever before produced. He never fails to express his amazement after each session with Bubbles.

While my husband had at first wished that Bubbles' silicone were a bit softer, we believe that it is this firmness (in conjunction with that perfectly angled curve) that makes this toy such an effective little worker. This little guy does not limit himself to serving only one master well. He works just as hard at pleasing one orifice as he does another -- and he is dedicated to finding those special sweet spots, no matter if those sweet spots are on a male-bodied or female-bodied user.
