Icicles No. 36 - dildo harness by Pipedream - review by Apirka

Pipedream's Icicles No. 36 is a harness and glass dildo set. Used together, they allow a non-penis owner to vaginally or anally penetrate their partner. However, just as you would be careful while using a glass dildo on yourself or a partner, one should use extra caution when using that same glass in a harness, so pay attention and listen to your partner so you don't hurt them. The dildo can obviously be used by itself - the round base allows for vaginal and anal use. The harness can also be used with other dildos, though the included O-ring will dictate the size of that dildo - but other O-rings could be substituted if desired.

The honey hued dildo included in the set is made from Borosilicate (Pyrex) glass, one of the safest toy materials available coming in at a 10 on the Eden material safety scale. Glass is very firm and rigid, so care should be taken when thrusting with it to prevent bruising any cervix it comes near. It is nonporous so it can be fully sanitized so that it can be shared in between orifices or partners.

Material for the harness isn't given, however the product page does say nylon, which I am assuming is the woven straps. The thin material of the back sash and front area where the dildo sits feel to me to be possibly a smooth cotton/polyester blend. There is no smell or taste to either the dildo or harness.

The dildo portion of the Icicles No. 36 set is just shy of 7" long, with 6 1/2" of that being insertable. The top has a round, bulbous head that has a 4 1/2" circumference and 1 1/4" diameter. Below this is a 3 3/4" circumference neck that is curved. The rest of the shaft has two 5" circumference, 1 1/2" diameter bulges with 4" circumference necks between them and right above the 2" diameter base.




The pink and gold double strap style harness is simple in construction: there is a 19" long, 4" wide (5 1/2" in middle) sash on the back that sits at the lower back/on top of butt. At each end of this sash is a piece of woven nylon folded diagonally, each end (four in total) has a white plastic buckle attached. Each of these buckles has another piece of nylon weaved through it which then come to the front and slip into the harness front piece. The top nylon straps (which go around the hips) each have about 22 1/2" that can be played with; the bottom nylon straps (that go around the thighs) each have about 36" of adjustable length. The front of the harness looks like a heart shape without the top middle dipping down - the front ends of the nylon straps slip into slits in this piece and the very edges fold over and snap onto themselves (with metal snaps) to hold the included rubber O-ring. The O-ring itself has a little bit of stretch to it and the opening is about 1 1/4", so other toys with that diameter should fit through it.

I was greatly surprised with the size of the harness. Being a bigger girl, I did not expect the harness to fit me as the product page states that the maximum waist and hip sizes for it are 38". However, removing the harness from its plastic pouch, I noticed right away that it could fit a nice variety of sizes.

As I said above, the hip straps have about 22 1/2" of adjustable length, the thigh straps have about 36". Add to that the 19" long back sash, and there's quite a bit of room. This harness sits on the hips, and on mine (about 53"), I still had about 6 to 7" of extra strap on each side on the top straps. The thigh straps had a lot of extra slack. I'm around a size 20-22, so someone about a size or so bigger then me should fit into this as well. And obviously smaller users will fit as well, just tighten the straps.

The harness was easy to put on and adjust - just place your legs in between the straps, position the front and back portions where you want them and tighten the straps. The dildo can be placed in the harness before or after the harness is put on (slip the straps through the slits in the front portion of the harness so the dildo can be slipped in through the back and into the O-ring, then pull the excess strap back through to tighten). Because the dildo is glass and a bit heavy, make sure the harness is snug to keep it from slipping. The straps go between the legs and back around the butt, giving access to the wearer's genitals from behind. As for comfort, the harness was as comfortable as a woven nylon strap harness can be. It doesn't pinch or scratch, but the straps can feel a little rough in between the legs after some time. Because of the material, this harness is also best for casual, occasional use. If you wanted a harness for regular or rough play, obviously you would purchase a much sturdier harness that will last longer than this one.

In use, the harness worked well for what it was designed for. It allows someone without a penis to vaginally or anally penetrate a partner with a dildo hands free. The harness didn't come loose or ride up. However, I had trouble keeping the back sash straightened out, it had a tendency to want to roll or fold in on itself. I'm not sure if that was because of my body shape, or if I had the harness adjusted too tightly, or what. I'm sure the back will sit nicer with the harness adjusted looser, but adjusting the harness as snugly as would be needed for the glass dildo doesn't allow the sash to sit as pretty as in the model photos.

As for holding toys, the rubber (not 100% sure about the material, but I am assuming it is rubber) O-ring fits right over the included dildo (though, because of the bulges, it does need just a little bit of tugging). The dildo sits well in the harness as long as the straps are pulled tight; because the dildo is glass and weighty, it will pull down, though, again, pulling the straps tight and making sure the harness is snug will prevent the dildo from slipping. The O-ring has a 1 1/4" opening, so other toys of this diameter will fit into it. Because the O-ring has some stretch, I was able to get the Bandito into it (which has a 1 1/2" diameter), but some tugging was needed to get it in. The Silk Medium fit perfectly (1 1/4" diameter). Also, dildos with flat bases will work best with this harness.

Now for the glass dildo. It is awesome! Definitely the best part of the set. It works well vaginally and anally, the bulbous head and curved neck are great for G and P-spot play. I honestly only purchased this set because I wanted that dildo so badly. Unfortunately it isn't sold separately because I have no need for a harness. The harness is nice and pretty, but I don't plan on using it. But that dildo! Is the price worth only using the dildo? Not really. On sale? Definitely!

Caring for the glass dildo is easy. Remove from the harness and clean with soap and water, toy cleaner or wipes, 10% bleach solution, boil for a couple minutes, or place in the top rack of a dishwasher with no detergent or one specifically made for glass. Any and all lubes are compatible with it.

No care instructions are given for the harness (as well as exactly what material it is made of). Wiping with a damp cloth or hand washing should suffice, then allow to air dry completely before storing. To store, place the glass dildo in a safe place in a toy pouch or sock; the harness can be folded or rolled up and placed into a drawer.
