A Kissa Goodbye

The Kissa is a cute little glass toy that works very well externally, delivering moderate vibrations and a pleasing texture. As for penetration, there are many better choices. Power queens and first time toy buyers should both look elsewhere.

Use

The Edenfantasys Kissa is a glass vibrator that's safe for vaginal insertion, but which actually works much better for external stimulation. It works best for those who like hard, textured toys and moderate to light vibrations, but can serve as a pleasantly teasing foreplay toy for anyone. It's also functional for a light body massage -- the texture on the head is quite effective against sore muscles.

Anyone who dislikes texture should definitely avoid this one. Even texture lovers might shy away from vaginal insertion, due to the way the different textures of the toy contrast with each other.

Since it lacks a flared base, it is unsafe for anal play.

Material / Texture

The Kissa is made out of glass, which is wonderful as a sex toy material because it's non-porous, odorless, and phthalates free. It holds temperature well, so it can be either warmed or chilled before play for an interesting sensation. To chill, let it rest in a glass of icewater or against an icepack prior to play. A cup of hot water or heating pad will achieve the opposite effect. Test the temperature against your wrist before using the toy on more vulnerable areas, and never microwave a sex toy, or use it straight out of the freezer, for safety reasosn.

Since glass is a firm, inflexible material, care should be taken to avoid hard thrusts that could bruise. This is especially true with a textured toy like the Kissa. Speaking of texture, the Kissa is deceptively extreme, so I recommend against it for anyone who has never tried texture before. What feels like light texture in the hand is enough to feel quite uncomfortable in use, and it could turn you off from an experience you might actually enjoy with another toy.

The Kissa is not a particularly good choice for beginners. It's simply not versatile enough to help make informed decisions about personal tastes, and it's a little on the large side for insertion, considering the firm material and strong texture.

Design / Shape / Size

For insertion, I think the Kissa is a misfire. The size, the firm material, and the straight shaft combine to make it unsuitable for g-spotting, since most women won't be able to angle it appropriately. While the texture on the head feels wonderful at first, the contrasting texture on the shaft is uncomfortable. The size, while not excessively large at an inch and a half in diameter, is just large enough to make the texture too much.

Externally, however, the design works quite well. The head is bumpy and interesting without feeling sharp at all, and the glass makes it glide smoothly over the skin. With firm pressure, it feels great on overworked muscles, even without turning on the vibrations, and with a lighter touch, it provides excellent stimulation to any erogenous zone.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The vibrations on the Kissa are controlled by a push button at the base of the toy. It's hard enough to push that it won't get bumped in play, but no so hard that you can't manage it with lube on your fingers. The Kissa cycles through three levels of moderate vibrations with each push of the button.

While the vibrations aren't particularly strong, they're pleasant enough in pitch, with no sharp buzziness. The noise level was correspondingly moderate, and could not be heard through a closed door or over background noise such as music or television.

The Kissa is waterproof, and has survived submersion for cleaning purposes many times. It takes a single AA battery, which survived through so many uses that eventually the battery got separated from it in the box, likely snagged for another toy, so I never did figure out how long it lasted.

Care and Maintenance

The Kissa is easy to clean, as it's waterproof and can therefore be submerged in soapy water. It can also be cleaned with toy cleaner or wiped down with wipes. Never boil a toy with a motor, but for sterilization purposes the Kissa can be rinsed in a ten percent bleach solution. It's also safe to wipe glass down with alcohol, although it should be rinsed thoroughly, because the heating effects of alcohol isn't much fun on sensitive skin.

For storage, the Kissa comes equipped with a black drawstring bag. Store it anywhere that it won't be struck by heavy objects, such as the Njoy Pure Wand. If found, claim it's a shoulder massager. It works quite well for that purpose, so it won't be a complete lie, although only your more naive snoops will buy the story, with the red color and the name edenfantasys stamped on the base.

Glass can be used with any lubricant.

Packaging

My Kissa arrived in very minimal packaging, with the EF logo in cardboard and the toy protected in a plastic bag. It was quite easy to recycle, which is all I really require in sex toy packaging. It neither adds to nor detracts from the presentation in a gift giving situation, and it's not useful for storage, although the enclosed black drawstring bag is quite nice.

Since the packaging is clear, it's not discreet enough for gift exchanges in mixed company. Find something else to open in the middle of that big family birthday outing to the restaurant with the singing waiter, and save the vibrators for intimate exchanges between lovers, or bachelorette parties.

Personal comments

Overall I'm quite pleased with the Kissa, as I like the vibration level well enough and love the texture, at least as a clit vibrator. It's a big fail internally, however, as the ribbing was just too much for comfort. I'd be pleased to see the Kissa back on EF, but I'd recommend it primarily for external use.
