FOU - clitoral vibrator discontinued by Fun Factory - review by Breas

FOU is a clitoral vibrator made by Fun Factory. The vibe is available in the colours red or yellow. I own the yellow coloured vibe. The vibe and charger were packaged in separate boxes. The two boxes arrived in a clear, zip-lock styled bag. The box that the charger comes in states the company name, product name, a brief product description, and has a photo of the charger on it. The box that FOU comes in has a photo of the product and states the brand name, product name, company contact information, and company website. The packaging could be used to store the items in when they are not being used but FOU comes with a pouch that could hold the items instead. The cardboard packaging can be recycled.



The contents that are included in both boxes are as follows: charger, instruction manual for charger, satin pouch, FOU vibrator, manual for charger warnings, and a sample packet of lubricant. I was rather surprised when I realized that there was no instruction manual for the FOU vibe.



The vibe is in the shape of a large egg. The length of the egg is approximately 3 inches with a circumference of 6 ½ inches at its largest point. The majority of the egg shape is yellow and silicone. The very bottom of the vibe is white plastic. The images of the FOU on the product page make the yellow look quite dull. In reality, the yellow colour is very bright, much like a highlighter yellow.



Being silicone, only water-based lubricants should be used with the toy. The silicone material is a bit squishy. At the top of the egg shape, there is a cutout, which dips into the toy. The length of this dip is just under ¾ of an inch and the width of this area is approximately 3/8 of an inch.

This cut out to the toy creates a flap. This flap is very flexible and can be used to hug your clitoris. It would be much easier to understand this by seeing a photo of the flap so I’ve added one below. There are no textures to the toy. The material is smooth. The silicone does have a lot of drag to it but is easily remedied with a bit of water-based lubricant. I did not detect any scent or taste to the toy when it had arrived.



At the very bottom of the toy, there are 3 buttons; a button which looks like a flower, a “+” button, and a “-” button. The “+” button turns the toy on by holding it down for a couple seconds. This button also is used to increase the intensity of the vibration level by pressing the button (not holding it in) until you’ve found your perfect intensity level. The “-” button is used to turn the toy off. To turn the toy off, hold this button down for a few seconds. This button also decreases the intensity level of the vibrations.



The funky flower button can also be used to turn FOU on by holding it down for a few seconds. The difference between turning the toy on with this button instead of the “+” button is that you’re met with a pulsating mode when you press the flower button, rather than a constant, continuous vibration. The flower button also brings you through the different pulsating modes by pressing it. The bottom area where the buttons are located lights up when the vibrator is on. When the buttons are pressed, the button light shines even brighter.



When you turn FOU on using the “+” button, you’re met with a continuous vibration on the lowest intensity level. There are 5 intensity levels to choose from for the continuous vibrations. Pressing the “+” button will increase the intensity and pressing the “-“ button will decrease it. On the lowest intensity level, the toy is virtually silent. At this level, you would not be able to hear the toy from beneath a blanket. Sadly, I need intense vibrations so I max out the intensity level. On the highest setting, the toy is quite loud and could be heard from beneath the covers and possibly through a closed door. The vibrations are “rumbly” rather than “buzzy”, which is important to me because I can’t stand the buzzy vibrations.

When you press the flower button, you activate the pulsating modes. The first mode is fast, short intervals. The second is longer pulses that go from low to high, and then repeat. The third mode is even longer pulses that escalate from low to high to low again, and repeat. The fourth one really doesn’t seem to pulsate.

The forth mode goes slowly from low to high and back to low again without any breaks in between. If you want to switch back to the continuous vibration, just press the “+” or “-“ button at any time.

After trying all of the different modes and speeds, I was left unimpressed. I decided that the continuous vibration was the one that would be the most likely to pleasure me. I tried to get the curved area of FOU to hug my clitoris but it didn’t really fit comfortably. The gap area is way to big for me.

The “flap” of the curved area seemed to be the part of the toy that gave the most vibration. It seemed as though the vibrations had a hard time escaping the thick, silicone material. When I used FOU, I tried to press the toy a bit harder against my clitoris to feel more power but sadly, this just weakened the vibrations more. This is a HUGE problem for me because I am a bit of a power queen. If you’re like me and need vibrations that are going to rock your world, this toy just won’t cut it. I was not even able to pleasure myself with this toy, that’s how unpleasing these vibrations were for me. Often times I can get off with a vibration level at 3 if I apply pressure but since applying pressure with this toy weakens the vibrations even more, it just didn’t happen.


Other than the vibration intensity, the toy was easy to use, the buttons are easy to understand and press during play, and the toy did not heat up even after a longer period of time. I am unable to comment on charge time for the FOU because my FOU arrived already charged. The included manuals do not give a precise charge time but states that the toy’s red light will turn off once the charge is complete. I will detail this in my follow up review.

FOU is waterproof so it’s super easy to clean because it can be fully submerged in water. To clean the toy you can use soap and water, toy wipes, toy cleaning spray, or a bleach/water solution. If you plan on sharing the toy, sanitizing the toy with bleach/water should be done after every use. The toy also likes to collect lint/hair so I’d recommend cleaning the toy both before and after each use. The toy can be stored in its original packaging or the pouch that is included. The pouch is quite large too so it fits both the toy and charger with room to spare.

Overall, this toy is okay. I love the fact that it’s waterproof, easy to use, has a variety of speeds and modes, is silicone, and is rechargeable. I’ve deducted two stars from the rating though because 1) it’s loud and 2) the vibrations are weak and do not/can not satisfy me. This toy would work well for those who do not care about noise, and are satisfied with just moderate vibration intensity levels. I am not one of those people.

I actually don't have the FOU any more. I had gotten rid of it through the Classifieds. FOU has a lot of great qualities but having the power I need is not one of them. If it doesn't have the power I need, the rest of the qualities don't matter much (for me).
