Lucky Number Forty-Two

On the whole the No. 42 is an excellent item. The vibrations are powerful, the shape is comfortable, and you'd need to have it in your hand to be able to hear it. The weight and thick head will be an issue for some people but most will find this toy to be a very welcome addition to their toybox.
Well designed shape, excellent vibration transfer, near as no-how silent.
Heavy material, larger than similar G-spot toys.

extremely useful review

From the marketing and the very shape of the toy, it is clear the No. 42 is designed for G-spot stimulation. Don't be fooled into thinking that's the only thing it can do however. With a firmer than average type of Jelly material and a particularly powerful vibrating egg inside the tip, this toy can please wherever you like, from G-spot and clitoral stimulation to P-spot and sensory play.

The wired remote offers four levels of vibration power that range from barely a tickle to really quite strong. The remote battery compartment is sealed with a small gauge O-ring and remained waterproof three meters deep for the hour I left it underwater. The vibrator itself is the Jelly material poured around the vibrating egg so as to form an airtight seal around the electronic components.

I will note that the head is somewhat more bulbous than the rest of the vibrator and a bit larger as well. Since the No. 42 is not a small item to start with, some users may find the head a bit too much to deal with early in a session, or at all if they are new to toys.

Material / Texture

The Lucid Dream No. 42 is made of firm Jelly and so has a nice rubbery feel. In fact, the Jelly was so hard in this item I had to confirm the material twice. I have never seen such a firm Jelly item! Jelly is a porous material and cannot be sterilized in boiling water like other materials. This item is just the right size to slip a condom over to assist in cleanup.

The firmness of the No. 42 surprised me but I quickly saw the idea behind the design. Since this is a vibrator designed for hitting the G spot, the firm texture gives it a good degree of control. The hard Jelly transfers vibrations much more efficiently than a soft Jelly and I believe it also contributes to the quietness of this particular toy.

Design / Shape / Size

The No. 42 measures in at a solid seven inches which is not too shabby. If you like your toys on the thick side you will be pleased to find the bulbous head a fine five inches in circumference with the main body closer to four inches. The design of the toy is typical of the Lucid Dream series specifically and G-spot vibrators in general. It is a non-penis shaped item that is carefully crafted and engineered to best stimulate a woman's most sensitive areas. I was impressed at how easily the No. 42 could hit the G-spot and clitoris, and with a bit of trial and error, both at once. I found the shape and size to be fairly anal-friendly though being a G-spot specific toy, it will not stimulate the P-spot as efficiently as a male oriented item.

The cord and remote wrap around the toy pretty easily and make storage a breeze. While not particularly large, the No. 42 is surprisingly heavy due to its higher than normal density Jelly. Keep this in mind while traveling under a weight limit since you could probably add another pair of shoes for the weight you're taking up with this toy.

Functions / Performance / Controls

This toy comes with a wired remote control in the same color as the toy itself. The controls are simple, two arrows pointing up and down move the vibration power along its four levels of intensity. Both the toy and the remote are fully waterproof so it can be operated in the shower or underwater with no trouble at all.

The hard Jelly transfers vibrations much more efficiently than soft Jelly, and for that reason the vibration sensations are distributed along the length of the toy despite the mechanism of vibration being in the very tip. The volume of No. 42 is extremely low, I don't think I've ever heard such a quiet toy that is still so powerful.

Care and Maintenance

Since the No. 42 is a Jelly vibe, you will want to use a condom over it if you plan to share. A condom will assist in cleanup as well but antibacterial wipes will do the trick just fine. Since Jelly is sensitive to heat and is a porous material, make sure you don't clean it with boiling water. The No. 42 may be waterproof but if you get it that hot you are going to have other problems on your hands.

Jelly is a fairly low static material so keeping it clean in your toybox is no trouble. If you keep your toys in plastic bags you are going to want a gallon size bag for comfort. You can get it into a quart size bag diagonally if you try but why bother with all that trouble? Jelly is a very lube friendly material and plays nice with just about everything.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

The No. 42, like all the vibes in the Lucid Dreams series comes in a clear plastic package with vaguely psychedelic designs. Inside the main package is a tray with a sunken imprint of the toy you ordered, in which it (the toy) rests. While the plastic package is not the most durable thing out there, you might want to hang on to it since it protects your toy nicely and puts it on display pretty dang well.
    • Good for storage
    • Would make a nice gift
Follow-up commentary
Looking back at this toy from years ago I am surprised to see how tough and reliable it has remained. My experience with toys of this style is they tend to have issues like the wire coming loose, the battery compartment not working quite right, the vibration power lacking. Two years after I wrote the original review the 42 is still going strong just like the first day I got it. The Lucid Dream series seems to be made of stronger stuff than most.
