Siena Rondo - traditional vibrator discontinued by Mantric - review by Tori Rebel

The Siena Rondo can be used for almost anything. My favorite use is for clitoral stimulation. Its varied speeds stimulate me wonderfully no matter what I'm in the mood for. The shape also provides a nearly flat surface on one side and a rounded side with a slight indentation beyond it to fit up against your clitoris and labia how ever you find it most comfortable.

A close second use would be for vaginal penetration - again the vibration patterns are phenomenal, but the slightly higher bump on one side of the tip works wonders on my g-spot. The toy is large and filling but not so rigid as to be painful, and the ripples and larger bulge down the shaft can easily be felt during insertion as well. There are three small ridges at the base of the silicone portion of the toy that are too shallow to be really noticeable and are also far enough down that it's not really designed to be inserted that far anyway.

A third use for this toy would be as a general body massager. The shape, plush firmness, and speeds feel great just about anywhere.

Another plus is that this toy is waterproof so it can be used for all of the acts above anywhere you like. I would recommend this toy to nearly anyone - it will impress toy veterans and newbies, but might be a little intimidating for those that are truly brand new to toys. It offers a lot of stimulation and a rather broad size so it might not be what everyone is comfortable starting out with. Otherwise, it's a good fit for singles and couples. The only thing I would not recommend this toy for is anal insertion as it has no flared base and wouldn't be safe, although using it for exterior anal stimulation is perfectly acceptable and pleasurable.

This majority of this toy is made of super smooth silicone. The base and battery cover are hard plastic with a velvet cote finish. It had no smell or taste whatsoever even from day one and glides across wet or dry skin beautifully. It is firm enough that the body of the toy does not jiggle or flop at all and is quite a firm shaft but the plushness of the silicone bulges and ripples along toy make it just soft enough that it doesn't feel painfully rigid inside of you and has a bit of give. There is a very small, barely noticeable seam running down each side of the toy but I can't feel it with anything besides my fingers.

It is high quality silicone which means that in addition to being sleek and smooth, it is completely non-porous. Unless you enjoy only the most super premium smooth toys such as glass and metal, I can't think of a situation where this material wouldn't be enjoyable. The only downfall to the silicone is that it is not compatible with silicone lubricants, so stick with water-based to protect this one.

The Rondo is 8-1/2" long with about 6" being insertable. At its widest point, it is 6" around and 2" across, but again because it has a certain amount of plushness in the silicone, will not feel the same when inserted as a rigid 2" diameter toy. The rounded bottom unscrews to insert just 2 AAA batteries, which constantly amazes me - the power this toy has does not feel like a AAA toy. This is also where the trustworthy rubber waterproof seal is found. On one side of the toy, the velvety soft plastic extends up a bit higher on the shaft and there lies the two control buttons and indicator light.

I can't say enough about the versatility of the shape of this toy - there are several ways it could fit against the clitoris or the labia, and several ways it could be rotated and inserted into the vagina, meaning it can hit the good spots on a variety of people - this is not a toy created with the idea that every woman's nether regions are laid out exactly the same. It's simply very unique which in my eyes, makes it stand out from the rest because there's more that can be done with it and less limitations on what it will work for.

This toy is very quiet, even on its highest speeds and patterns, and can't be heard in my room over the sound of a window fan, and can't be heard over a running shower. It is however, large enough and shaped in a way that it couldn't be seen as anything other than a sex toy unless the person that found it was very naive or very gullible. This also makes it not so great for travel or playing on the go.

As described above, the Rondo has 2 buttons at the base of the shaft, with an indicator light between them. The light will light up depending on the speed of the vibrations, and changes with the vibration when it's on a multi-speed performance pattern. It lights up green for slow, orange for moderate, and red for high. When you press the button closer to the base, the toy will go through the patterns listed below. To go forward, press the lower button again, to go back press the higher button, and to turn it off, hold the higher button down for about a second and a half. The patterns area also described by picture representation on the side of the box lid.

4. 3 escalating pulses followed by a more consistent escalation
5. Upwards escalation, short pulses, downward escalation
6. Escalation to moderate speed, two pulses, escalation from moderate to high speed, two more pulses

9. 1 short low pulse followed by a longer high pulse
10. Fast repetitive moderate pulses

You'll notice I've chosen a favorite pattern but there aren't any that I don't like. The simply low vibration isn't enough to make me orgasm, but it's still pleasurable for teasing or warm-up. The buttons are in the perfect location for the ways I use the toy. It's comfortable to hold and control while using it as a clitoral vibrator or when inserted. For fairly thick silicone, the vibrations travel through it as if it were just a thin wall of plastic and it's not a buzzy toy at all - it's a deep rumbly toy that seems to transfer its deep vibrations onto and into your skin.

I've used this toy in the shower and in the tub with no problems, but in all fairness I didn't have the entire toy consistently submerged under water, as the battery cap was still out of the water most of the time. Either way, the battery compartment stayed dry and the toy remained undamaged.

Unfortunately, since the base is plastic and the toy is one continuous piece, it cannot be boiled or put in the dishwasher without major damage to the toy. The silicone portion can however be sanitized using a 10% bleach solution, but use caution to only treat the silicone portion. I prefer to wash mine with just soap and water as I am the only one that uses it. It can be dried with any towel and stored with any fabric as it is smooth and matte and doesn't attract fuzz or hair. If sanitized, this toy could be shared, but to be on the safe side I use condoms if I ever share my toys, no matter what they're made of.

I store my toy in its original box but if you don't have space for it, it could be easily stored in a toy box or toy bag.

The Rondo comes in a very professional, almost clinical looking glossy cardboard box. The lid is white with an image of the toy and the name, and the bottom is deep red. The inside of the box has a velvety lined plastic form to hold the toy and it also comes with a very informative manual. The side of the lid also has a diagram of the 10 different modes the toy features. If you have room to store the box, it's a great place to keep the toy and is highly giftable.

Although I do list two cons for the toy, neither of them are really cons for me - I don't mind using water based lube and I have no problems with the shape or size of the toy and am far from a beginner. This makes it flawless for my personal use and therefore has earned it 5 stars from me.
