This isn't Beethoven But It Does Rock

This is a great intro to texture or for those who do not like a ton of it. It's the trusty and reliable one you keep coming back to when you just want something with no bells and whistles, just plain old vibrator sex. It comes in an awesome box and, really, that alone should make you want to buy it.

Use

This is fairly basic as far as vibrators go, no bells and whistles, no crazy functions, just three speeds of vibrating fun. It does, however, bend all over the place. You can use it pretty much anywhere you like, pushing it against my clit is fun since it lends itself to be pushed against things with its flexibility. In fact, the vibrations get stronger when you push it against something else. The one place you do not want this particular sex toy ever to venture to is the backdoor. Anal use is not recommended when an object does not have a flared base; toys can get stuck up there and ER trips and nurses attempting not to giggle while you're in the room can ensue. (Or maybe they've seen it so many times they don't laugh? I have no clue. However, if I were a nurse I would laugh. That's probably why I'm not a nurse.)

Material / Texture

This is TPR silicone, which is on the porous side so take some care with this one. Do not ever share it without condoms. You can try to kill everything off but things can still hide in the pores and no one wants to pick up nasty infections from other people. Really you shouldn't use it without condoms ever, but definitely do not share without them.

Rhapsody has a jelly-like feel without being as icky for you as actual jelly toys. If you enjoy the feel of jelly but want to be a bit more safety conscious this would be a step in the right direction. It is a bit of a hair magnet so don't just dig it out of your toy box and have at it (but you wouldn't really do that, now, would you?).

I have a very strange sense of smell that cannot smell a lot of things but I definitely picked up some scent from this when it was right underneath my nose. That does make me a bit wary of this toy so condoms might be a smart road to take. It did, however, go away after a couple of uses and some washings. It could even be the partially due to the foam inside of the packaging.

There is a slight amount of texture to this, which would work nicely for those who are not fans of large amounts of texture or someone who wants to venture into the world of texture for the very first time. It's enough to give it something extra though.

Design / Shape / Size

I do like the design of the Rhapsody. It works nicely for pretty much anyone, it isn't too big with a diameter of 1 1/2" near the base but around an inch at the top.

The blue of my toy looks nothing like the way that is showing up on my monitor, but that's okay. Mine is definitely a much lighter blue and less vibrant.

It looks like any old vibrator. People will know if you accidentally leave this sitting out or try and take it through security so if that sort of thing tends to make your cheeks rosier than the use of this toy will then you might want to keep it at home and hidden.

It's flexible because the batteries and everything that they need (I am not an electronics peson) is in a harder part in the shaft. There is then wires running up to the bullet which is near the very end. The midsection is solid, while the material around the bottom is covering some hard plastic. The point where the plastic ends and the solid part begins is where a lot of the flexibility comes from. It's difficult to see, but it appears as though the midsection and the bullet has a similar design going on, although it's slightly less flexible there.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Rhapsody is controlled by a push button on the very bottom of the base. It presses fairly easily but not so much that you'll continuously accidentally turn it off every time you near that crucial moment. (That sucks. A lot.)
The first speed is enough that you can feel it, and the second is a nice step up from there. The third is not that different from the second, but it does vary slightly. They're not mind-blowingly strong but they aren't just a tickle either.

The vibrations are located near the end of the shaft so if you like to position them so that they hit your g-spot this toy would be great.

It is not quiet but it is not obnoxious either. Since the shaft is so flexible and the design of the interior of the toy has to adapt to that, the noise varies a lot when you flex it around and apply pressure. If you have a closed door and some noise you should be fairly safe unless you have it on the highest speed with no pressure against it. If I just hold it by the base in my hand and turn it all of the way up it tends to get rather obnoxious as things shift around without any pressure.

As a wonderful added bonus, this toy is waterproof. It worked fine when submerged. The 2 AA batteries are in a compartment within a compartment for extra protection.
    • Easy to use
    • Multiple settings

Care and Maintenance

This is pretty easy to take care of, wash it with soap or a cleaner before and after use. Don't boil it or put it in your dishwasher. You can use oil or silicone-based lubricants with this toy.

The storage is one of my very favorite parts about this one! It comes in an adorable metal box for easy storage. You can also stash some smaller items in there if you would like, such as condoms or lubes. It's pretty roomy.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

Did I mention the super metal box that this comes in? It's pretty great.
    • Good for storage
    • Would make a nice gift
Follow-up commentary
This thing is still the go-to-nearly-guaranteed-to-work-I-just-want-something simple vibe in my collection. And it has held up well to my demands. Trust me, I'm demanding of my favorites.

I'm sad to hear about the blue being lighter. It looks so pretty on the monitor. Great review!

Yeah, that is a shame about the color -- the vivid blue look on my monitor was actually my favorite thing about this vibrator. Nice review!

Thanks guys! The blue of this one is what attracted me to it at first so it was a bit disappointing.

Great review! Sad about the color and smell. I wonder if I can get the box on it's own...

Milebeauty, you should consider suggesting that to Evolved. Or maybe ask for their scratched or dented boxes or something.
The smell did go away, so it really could have just been from it sitting in the foam. I'm not sure though.
