Symphony Of Ick!

The Symphony Rhapsody is a great item for those who don't mind lint and constant cleaning. The material has a tacky, dragging feeling that is uncomfortable while in use and just while holding it. The bullet inside can shift if the shaft is squeezed too hard. There are only 3 vibration settings and the button is easy to hit during use. Overall it just seems like a poor design in a pretty case.

Use

The Symphony Rhapsody by Evolved Novelties is designed to be used vaginally by an individual, but is a fun couple's toy as well. The vibrations can provide stimulation to the nipples and clitoris as well as sensual massages all over the body. It has deep vibrations that rumble rather than buzz and feel wonderful. The shaft does not have a curve and isn't very flexible so it would be difficult to use for G-spotting and may not be long enough for some who like P-spotting. The Rhapsody can be used anally but its base is not wide enough to prevent complete insertion; so beware.

The Rhapsody is said to be waterproof and has a plastic ring on the unscrewing battery compartment. I would recommend using this only in the shower or a splashing situation. It is possible for water to get into the batter compartment if the cap isn't screwed tightly or properly. There is also a small seam around the control button that water could get into if submerged. Taking this item into the bath or hot tub and holding it under water for a period of time could cause problems.

Material / Texture

Symphony Rhapsody is made of TPR (7 on the safety scale). Rhapsody is hypo-allergenic, latex free, and phthalates free. It is porous so it would be wise to use condoms when sharing this toy with others. The material of this toy seemed "tacky" to me and it is a major lint magnet. It had a strong odor when I removed it from its case but it is fading after washes and uses. TPR is said to be flexible, but not on this toy; the shaft contains electronics and a large vibrating bullet that prevents flex.

The Rhapsody has braided looking ridges and bumps. This would be a good toy for those who like or don't like texture. The bumps are mild and may not irritate someone sensitive to texture but textured enough for those who do like texture. I wouldn't recommend it to those who like plushy toys or intensely textured toys because it is not squishy at all and it doesn't have a super intense texture.

Design / Shape / Size

The Symphony Rhapsody has a very basic design with a single touch operation button at its base. It's shape and size is very esthetically appealing! It has a strong braided texture throughout about two thirds of its length. This item comes in slightly see through purple as well as blue. I have noticed that purples don't come out well on sex toys but the Rhapsody pulls purple off very well! It is a bit thin for my taste but would be great for those who like their toys mildly girthy.

The toy's full length is 8.25 inches but only 6 of that is insertable. Its circumference is 4.75 inches but somehow doesn't feel that big. The Rhapsody is lightweight so there isn't a lot of "weight" behind the thrusts either. If you are looking for a strong toy that carries a thrusting punch this is not it.

The bullet is in the tip of the vibe and is quite large. Although it has wonderful deep rumbely vibrations they are too high in the toy to stimulate the G-spot or other lower sensory areas. The vibrations may not be strong enough for those looking to P-spot because the toy's tip may not reach and the vibrations don't carry through skin.

I think the button on the bottom of the device is in a poor location. While thrusting it is easy to hit the button and change settings. I also don't like the type of TPR used for this item. I think this toy would have been a bigger hit for me if it were made of a smooth silicone.

This is clearly a vibrator! It is not discreet and I would not recommend taking this in your carry-on. Overall the Rhapsody is a simple item that would be best suited for beginners. Advanced users may not find the Rhapsody diverse enough to satisfy their needs.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Rhapsody is a one-touch, three-function vibrator that takes 2 AA batteries; that's about it. The battery compartment pulls out of the base of the toy when the cap is removed. The vibration patterns are simply light vibrations, medium vibrations, and strong vibrations. Each variation is a nice low rumble that is very strong. The vibrations are strongest in the top half inch of the vibe but can be felt throughout the toy. Because of its simplicity, the batteries do last quite a while. One set of batteries will last a few uses. This toy would be better if it had more than three settings.

There is a single button on the bottom of the toy that controls it. To turn the toy on the button needs to be pressed once, then again for the medium function, then a third time for the strongest setting; the fourth push will turn it off. As you can tell the controls are pretty simple. The button is easy to push which good and bad as it is easy to push during play.

I give the Rhapsody three bees because it could probably be heard through closed doors, but if a TV or stereo is on it wouldn't. The vibrations this toy provides are strong but aren't "Earth Shattering" enough for those who enjoy strong deep vibrations.

The Rhapsody is said to be waterproof and has a waterproof seal around its base cap. I am always sketchy about putting things with batteries in water so I did not test it but because it has an unscrewing cap. I would recommend it only as splash-proof.

Care and Maintenance

You should only use silicone- or water-based lube on this TPR toy. The TPR is porous and should be used with a condom of you are sharing. TPR toys cannot be disinfected with boiling water! PLEASE DON'T BOIL ME! You can wash them with warm water and toy cleaner or mild soap. When washing be sure the cap is on tight to prevent damage. It has a waterproof seal cap so make sure to pay attention to any special notches or grooves to be sure the cap is secured properly.

This item does collect A LOT of lint and should always be cleaned before and after use. This toy actually collected lint on my just cleaned counter top! Because of its lint attraction, I would let this air dry. If dried with a towel, the towel lint will stick to the toy and it will need to be washed again.

The Rhapsody comes with its own storage case. There is a window on the front of the case so it would not be good for public storage. I took the foam padding out of the box because the Rhapsody would collect the lint from the fuzz in it. If you don't use the tin it can be stored easily in a sock or panty drawer. A drawstring lint free bag would also work great for this item. If it is stored with anything fuzzy, fluffy, or hairy it will attract loose particles from those items.

The TPR this toy is made of will stick to other toys and can discolor if stored in the sun and will melt in extreme heat. So don't store your rhapsody on a windowsill unless you want a science experiment!

Packaging

The Rhapsody came in a beautiful red metal box. The toy sits in a fuzzy foam lining that attracts a lot of lint, which will also stick to the toy. The box is a lot larger than the toy so when I took the lining out there was room for more than one item. I am currently storing four other items in the box with my Rhapsody and there is still room for more.

There is a cute blurb on the back of the box about the Rhapsody as well as a few bullets describing the 3 speeds, the single push button, the flexible material, and that it is made of hygienic medical-grade TPR. The box also states that "This product is sold and should be used as an adult novelty only and should never be other than for external use. It should not be used on a prolonged or frequent basis. It should not be used on swollen or inflamed areas or near or on skin lacerations. No medical claims are warranted or implied by the use of this product." The box also states that the item is made in china.

There were no specific instructions included on how to use the Rhapsody.

Follow-up commentary
I still feel that the vibrations are too high in the item to be felt. The batteries have lasted quite a while though which is nice.

I can't believe they put in foam lining when it's a TPR toy.
