Tryst 2 a good rendezvous for beginners.

Overall, I feel that the Tryst 2’s relatively weak vibrations mean that it will likely be more suitable for teasing/foreplay for more advanced users. However, it should still get the job done, and the 100% silicone body will satisfy choosy buyers without putting new users off of trying it. While the price is a bit high for a first-time user, it is not unreasonably so, and this coupled with the unintimidating size of the toy makes the Tryst 2 a great choice for a first-timer.

Use

The Tryst 2 is a traditional vibrator with a slightly curved tip designed for clitoral stimulation, vaginal insertion and stimulating the G-spot. While it can also be used for teasing the anus, I would not recommend inserting this toy anally as it lacks a flared base that would prevent the toy from getting lost inside an unwary user.

Material / Texture

The Tryst 2 is made of 100% premium silicone, which means that it is non-porous and odor free; indeed, I could not detect any odor coming from this toy. This particular formulation is a matte silicone, and is more flexible than I expected. I can bend the toy easily, but do not want to bend it too far since I fear accidentally damaging the internal mechanisms since I can’t see what’s inside the toy. As one would expect from a mostly silicone toy, the Tryst 2 is a lint magnet.

The base of the Tryst 2 is made of ABS plastic, with a ring of metallic plating separating the plastic from the silicone body of the toy. The buttons are hard and also feel like they are made of ABS plastic (which the packaging confirms). The toy’s texture is smooth, with some ridges that run vertically along the shaft of the toy, and there is a small, raised seam at the tip that also extends down the shaft, but this does not seem to be pronounced enough to be felt during use.

Design / Shape / Size

The Tryst 2 features a simple, streamlined design and an average size that should be suitable for beginners or most intermediate users. It measures about 7” long from base to tip, with about 5.5” of insertable length. It is about 1.5” in diameter and a little less than 5” in circumference, which should be a manageable size for most. The tip is slightly curved for G-spot stimulation, and it is more subtle for those who do not like the most pronounced, hooked curves of some G-spot toys.

One small gripe I have is that this toy comes only in pink. In person, I found that this toy is slightly more bubblegum pink than it appears in the photos on Eden. I would have preferred being given more than one color option, since no others exist to my knowledge; I ran a brief Google search to see if there were any others not offered by Eden, but I was unable to find any. Granted, I don’t really need to look at the toy while I’m using it, but color does tend to be an important factor for some.

Although this toy is not overtly phallic in appearance, it definitely looks like a sex toy, and anyone with any knowledge of sex toys (or not) would likely be able to deduce what this is. Therefore, I would not call it discreet; however, its slim design makes it easy to tuck away from any prying eyes.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Tryst 2 runs on 2 AAA batteries. Since I have mostly AA batteries in my home (and most of my toys and other battery-operated gadgets tend to take those), I found this to be a minor inconvenience. Also, I found that the battery compartment is difficult to open, particularly the first time using the toy. There is a small switch in the cap, labeled “open”, that you have to press down on, and the cap should open. However, the first time I attempted this, it didn’t fully open and I tried to pry it open with my fingernail, but I soon realized that this wasn’t necessary.

The inside of the compartment clearly indicates which way the batteries should fit inside, which is always a plus. Simply insert the batteries and snap the cap back on, and you should be good to go. There are two plastic buttons protruding from the base of the toy; hitting the power button will cause a red light to turn on at the base, and hitting the larger vibration button will activate the toy. The toy is very quiet and the lowest settings are barely audible in a quiet room. The highest is about as loud as the vibration function on my cell phone. Pressing the vibration button again will cycle through the toy’s seven programmed vibration patterns, which are as follows:

1) Low steady vibration
2) Medium steady vibration
3) High steady vibration
4) Rumbling, “rollercoaster” type vibration that starts low and ends high
5) Steady, pulsating vibration
6) Quicker pulsating vibration
7) Three quick pulses followed by a longer one

Any subsequent presses of the power button will cause the toy to start over from the first setting. Hit the power button to turn the toy off. The buttons are raised and since one of them is larger than the other, it is easy to toggle the different settings while in use, as you don’t have to look at the buttons to know which one you are pressing.

Care and Maintenance

The Tryst 2 is made of 100% silicone, so it is non-porous and body-friendly. Although silicone can normally be boiled for two minutes, washed with a 10% bleach solution, or run through the dishwasher, immersing the toy or exposing it to heat would destroy the plastic base and battery compartment. Therefore, I would recommend using simple antibacterial soap or a commercial toy cleaner to clean this toy after use; the former is what I used to clean mine.

As with other silicone toys, use only water-based lube with the Tryst 2, as silicone-based lubes are likely to react with the silicone of the toy and damage its surface. Also, store this toy away from toys made of jelly or other lesser materials, as silicone could melt or otherwise damage them. I am currently storing my Tryst in its original packaging, although it’s a bit bulky for long-term storage and I may switch it to a small toy pouch instead sometime in the near future.

Packaging

The L’Amour Tryst 2 comes in a clear plastic box with a front window that showcases the product inside. The box reads “L’Amour in large pink script on the front, with “Premium Silicone Massager – Tryst 2” written in smaller letters, along with small icons that tell you that this toy is pure silicone, is waterproof, etc. The back features a picture of the vibrator, along with various selling points.

Overall, I would say that the packaging is classy, as it does not feature any scantily clad models or the like. However, since you can clearly see the product through the box, I would not call it discreet in any way. Also, I find that it’s a bit flimsy to use for long-term storage, so I will most likely throw it away rather than keeping it around for any length of time.

Experience

Personally, I found that this is a simple to use, basic toy that will probably end being a good warm-up to some of my others. The toy itself has a solid, well-made design, and I like the fact that the controls are so minimalist, yet very functional and easy to operate even with lube-covered fingers. It should not pose a problem even for larger fingers, as the buttons are set wide enough apart, and I had no trouble managing this toy with lube-covered fingers.

As with other toys that I have used with vibration patterns, I am more of a fan of the steady vibrations as opposed to the pulsing or alternating ones, but to each his/her own. This isn’t a super powerful toy and I found some of the lower ones to be kind of weak, but the stronger ones are nice, although I occasionally found myself wishing for a little more. The G-spot curve is subtle, which I like (as opposed to harder, more pronounced ones that just become uncomfortable). The shape isn’t quite what I would pick for my personal G-spot preference and it didn’t hit mine as well as some of my other toys, but it at least does not hurt after using it for a while.

Although I got off from using the toy, I found myself reaching for something stronger and feel that this will not be the main attraction in the future. This is a matter of personal preference and does not make this a flawed or otherwise “bad” toy in any way; however, more advanced users who like very strong, heavy vibrations will want to look elsewhere as this will likely not satisfy.
Follow-up commentary
I honestly haven't used this toy at all since I reviewed it, simply because I own other toys that are flashier and see more use because I like them more. I don't plan on throwing this one out, though, and it's still sitting in my toy box with some of the ones that I do use more.
