Unsure how to Fiji...

Overall, the Fiji was a mediocre experience. Its unique shape and design, made of safe material, are its most positive attributes. Its lack of instructions and attraction to lint makes play time a little stressful, and play time should never feel like work!

Use

The Fiji is sold by California Exotics as an exerciser for vaginal muscles and as a g-spot dildo. Its multiple functions are a plus, but some may have difficulty using the Fiji as an exerciser due to its small circumference. When used for Kegel exercises, Fiji's lack of girth makes it difficult to squeeze the pelvic muscles around it strongly enough. Whenever I tried to do so, the Fiji tended to slide back out.

I prefer to use my Fiji as a g-spot dildo, as it curves at just the right angle to hit that spot. With its lack of instructions though, it is completely up to you to decide how to use your Fiji, though some of you may find it confusing. Being that the Fiji is my first toy ever, I took it out of its box and I held it in the palm of my hand, completely dumbfounded. I experimented with both exercises and g-spot play and have come to the conclusion that Fiji is best used as a g-spot dildo! Its modest size makes it easily suitable for beginners to g-spot play, but its lack of girth, as mentioned before, would not be suitable for those looking for more advanced exercising.

Its unique shape allows both ends to be utilized, at different times mind you. In other words, it is not suitable for dual, partnered use, as a double-ended toy. A plus is that each end can be used for exercises and g-spot play, though the more traditionally g-spot shaped end is what seemed to do the trick for me.

I would [italics|not] suggest using the Fiji as an anal toy due to its lack of a flared base. You would not want to get Fiji lost up there!

Material / Texture

The Fiji is made of 100% silicone, which makes it completely body safe! As a first time toy user, I consider safety extremely important in my choice of toys. Therefore, I find the Fiji appropriate for all users. The Fiji is easy to clean, though it is a lint magnet! It even had lint on it when I took it out of its plastic packaging for the very first time! The Fiji is smooth and matte, with two visible seams on either side. The seams do not detract from its use though. I feel that any sort of texture would have detracted from its use - especially as an exerciser. Some advanced g-spot users though may prefer a toy with more texture at the head to further stimulate the g-spot. Fiji is flexible, but still firm, and is completely waterproof, making it suitable for shower or bath time.

Even though I have been told that silicone has no smell, my freaky senses did pick up a hint of scent, but it is not unpleasant at all and can easily be ignored and forgotten.

Design / Shape / Size

One of the main appeals of the Fiji is its unique design and shape. It is 7 inches long and about 1.5 inches at its thickest. It is curved in a traditional g-spot dildo way, making it perfect to hit that spot. As previously mentioned, the Fiji lacks instructions, therefore it is up to you to decide which end to use for what. The end with the two bulbs, I believe, is supposed to be used for the Kegel exercising aspect, though its lack of girth makes it difficult to do so. If it were a little thicker, I believe the Fiji would be perfect for Kegels and exercising, though it may just be the perfect size for smaller vaginas and tighter women hoping to dilate before intercourse or use of a larger toy. The other end, curved and knuckled, is the more preferred end for myself and hits the g-spot perfectly, giving great use to its modest size.

Fiji is not realistic looking at all and is discreet enough for travel. Mind you, it can obviously be recognized as a dildo so I would not leave it lying about if you do not want anyone to see or know.

Performance

The best part of the Fiji's performance is its application as a g-spot dildo. Its curved and knuckled head hits the spot right on, no matter how deep or shallow yours is. The Fiji is my first toy EVER and I was able to find my g-spot quickly, which is something I cannot do very often. I have been unable to reach that big O quite yet but plan to keep trying!

As briefly mentioned, the Fiji's main selling point is its use as a vaginal exerciser, but with its lack of instructions, I do not even know where to begin to use it as such. Its circumference is not big enough to stretch or to grasp tightly enough with the pelvic muscles and it tends to slip out very easily.

I think Fiji is one of those toys where practice, and lots of experimenting, makes perfect!

Care and Maintenance

As shortly described on the packaging, "wash before and after each use. Always use a water-based lubricant with this product for maximum pleasure." Silicone-based lubes will damage the Fiji, so please avoid them. It is very easy to clean and sterilize, and is perfect for sharing, but is a lint magnet! Since it is pure silicone, Fiji can be boiled for up to three minutes and be put on the top rack of the dishwasher for complete sterilization. I have also read in other reviews that silicone can be cleaned with a bleach solution, so this can also be done for cleansing purposes.

I store my Fiji in its original plastic packaging as it is my first toy and I do not have any special boxes or bags. I still find that it collects lint in its plastic packaging, so I think some kind of sealed storing device would be appropriate.

Packaging

The Fiji comes in a very simple, clear plastic package. Honestly, as a first time user, I found the packaging very cheap-looking and not at all appealing. It is not a discreet package at all, as the words "vagina" and "g-spot" are on every panel and you can easily see the product. The Fiji comes with absolutely no instructions except for the bare minimum on the back panel: "Fiji is an adult toy silicone vaginal stimulator that can be used for Kegel exercises and vaginal stretching. Fiji also offers stimulation to both the G-spot and opening of the vagina. Fiji as an adult toy can help affect the vagina and make sex more comfortable. Use only with water based lubricants." As a part of Dr. Laura Berman's Intimate Basics toy line, I found this short description lacking of EVERYTHING - grammar, adequate description of proper use or care, etc. The side panel is filled with Dr. Berman's life achievements and bio - I am disappointed she could not find the time to properly market the Fiji and live up to her expertise.

Personal comments

As my first toy ever, I am a little disappointed with the Fiji. I think I had very high expectations, though. I am willing to try it again and again until I get it to work just how I want it to. I look forward to this!
Follow-up commentary
The Fiji has not left its box more than once since my original review. We tried it for anal, and it just did not work. It was a spur of the moment decision, so I don't think we were all that prepared, but it would just not go in!

I did not thoroughly enjoy it previously vaginally, and honestly don't think I will use it again - unless I make a conscious effort to try and try and try and try.

It tires me just thinking about it.

I've never seen this one before! It looks kind of interesting and you did a great job describing it! I'm not quite sure what the size is though?

That's a good price for a 100% silicone toy. You are right about it not being suitable for anal play. Thanks for the great review.

Great Job on your review, the lack of instructions is really the down fall on her part. If she is going to try to sell something that is unique for a purpose than instructions should of been included even if they were silly instructions. I am glad I am not the only one who couldn't figure it out. Thanks for the review
