Voila? Not so much..

The Voila has a lot of great characteristics that I look for in my playthings. It's small, it's quiet, it's rechargeable, made of a safe material, easy to operate and clean, and it's even waterproof! Unfortunately, it lacks power. The Voila may make a great tool for foreplay, or an aide during either intercourse or oral. But sadly, by itself, it just isn't that amazing. A pretty toy, at a reasonable price, that would be great for beginners.

Use

The Voila is a small, rechargeable vibrator intended for clitoral stimulation. However, it can also be used on nipples, the penis or ball-sac, and any other erogenous zones you may have. You could also incorporate this during either intercourse or oral for some added stimulation, as it is very small and would be easy to hold between you and your partner's bodies. It is best suited for teasing or foreplay, however, because the vibrations are so mild. Hold it stationary and let the Voila work its inherent lack of magic, or move it around yourself, searching for where your satisfaction has gone. You can even take it in the shower or bath if you need a little riling up, or a prelude to a stronger toy.

Material / Texture

The Voila is made of hard, ABS plastic, covered in a PU cote. It is non-porous, as well as phthalates free. The material has no taste or smell, and is smooth to the touch, with the tiniest amount of drag to it. Because of this lack of texture, it slides fairly easily against skin, and would be suitable for beginners and advanced users alike. I very much enjoy the velvety feel of the material.

Design / Shape / Size

The Voila was designed to fit easily, and comfortably, in the palm of your hand. It is 3" long, 1 5/8" at it's widest point, and almost 1" thick. It somewhat resembles a tiny medieval shield, which seems appropriate to me, since all it seems to do is shield my clit from the pleasure I seek. The back of the toy is mostly flat, with a small clitoral nub protruding out as you near the tip of the toy. Think of this little bump as a homing beckon for you clitoris. It's great at helping to find your clit, but when it gets there, it's at a loss of what to do with it. Two small buttons on the front surface of this toy control the settings. One button is labeled with a square. This button is the off button, and that's all it does, turn the toy off. The other button is labeled with an F, which I assume means function. Press this once to turn the toy on, and then again to change from one setting to another. Above these buttons, on the top side of the toy, is a clear plastic plug which covers the charging port. This plug prevents dust, water, etc from infiltrating your toy. It also, supposedly, makes this toy waterproof. I cannot vouch for this fact as I haven't yet been brave enough to take this toy into the bath. However, I have washed it several times under running water without liquid getting into the jack, so I can attest to the fact that it is at least splash-proof.

Because the Voila is so small, it would be remarkably easy to hide. It is also rather abstract looking, and doesn't immediately scream "SEX TOY!", so it falls into the category of discreet as well. It would be a great toy to travel with, because of its small size, discreet shape, and ability to be recharged. I also believe it would make an excellent toy for a beginner, because of its simplicity.

Functions / Performance / Controls

As I mentioned above, the Voila has two buttons. One to turn it on, and change functions, and one to turn it off. The buttons are very easy to press and scroll through. I like that the Voila has a dedicated off button, just in case of emergencies (IE: someone walking in on you). The toy itself is relatively quiet. You'd be able to hear it from underneath the covers, but certainly not through a closed door. The sound it emits is high pitched, and mildly annoying. Regardless, it's pretty inconspicuous.

The toy does not come charged, so be sure to do this before attempting to use it. Merely plug the AC adapter into the jack in the toy, plug it into the wall, and let it juice up for about 3 hours. As a note, the toy will not work while charging, and I don't suggest you try using it. The light on the charger should be a red color when it's charging, and turn green after it is completely charged. The charge is supposed to last for 3.5 hours of use, but I have yet to test this as I never actually let the power drain all the way. As soon as I'm finished playing with it, I plug the Voila back in until fully charged so I never have to worry about finding it dead.

The Voila has 7 different vibration settings. The vibrations are located mostly at the tip of the toy, near the clitoral nub. The settings are as follows: low steady vibrations, medium steady vibrations, high steady vibrations, escalating, pulsating, rhythmic pulsating, and high steady vibrations (again). I appreciate all of the settings, and am happy that the Voila offers more than just your standard speeds. It's always nice when you get a few patterns with your toy! Surprisingly, I even liked the lowest setting. It was soft, teasing, tickley almost. It just felt nice. Unfortunately, as much as I enjoyed the modes of this toy, I did not enjoy how mild it was in terms of power. The vibrations are very buzzy and surface level, and besides that, just plain weak. After a while, there's only so much teasing you can take before you NEED to climax! Sadly, even when I've cranked it up to its highest, the Voila fails to get the job done. So while this may be a great toy for foreplay, or an aide during either intercourse or oral, it's not that amazing on its own. I have not ONCE been able to orgasm using this toy, and I am severely disappointed by that fact.

Care and Maintenance

The Voila should be compatible for use with silicone and water-based lubricants. However, for whatever reason, the manufacturer states that you should only use water-based lube with this toy. After you're done playing, wash with antibacterial soap and warm water. If any liquid happens to get into the charging port, simply blow it out, and ensure that it is completely dry before attempting to recharge it again. When not in use, store in a safe, dry location, out of reach of children.

Packaging

The Voila comes in a small cardboard box with a picture of the product on the front. There are a few details about the product listed on the box. Inside you will receive your Voila, AC adapter, & a small slip of paper containing safety and cleaning instructions for the toy itself. There were no explicit instructions included on how to operate the toy, but there really was no explanation needed, because it's such a straight forward design. The packaging the Voila comes in is small and simplistic, and therefore would be convenient to use as storage.

Experience

I've tried to like this toy, I really have. Oh how I've tried! I've dedicated large chunks of my day to the mere act of trying to like this toy. But every time, it falls short. It feels oh so nice and lovely for the first 10, 15, 20 minutes. And then, I want to orgasm. I'm done with these light, teasing sensations. I NEED release. I turn it up to its highest setting, press it hard into my body and wish, pray, hope for what has now metamorphosed into a tortuous sensation to end. I want what I came for, and the Voila just won't deliver. It outright refuses to let me climax! And that's when I get frustrated. I discard the toy itself somewhere in the sheets, still buzzing away merrily and ineffectively. I take two fingers to myself and in minutes I'm right where I need to be. Staring at the ceiling in somewhat of a daze, I wonder belatedly, why couldn't the Voila have done that? Why doesn't it work? Then I forget my questions and the prospect of any possible answers, and drift into a satisfied sleep.
