Daughters of Darkness, More Vampires than Lesbians

If you are into vampires, blood, and horror movies, with a little side of sex, this is for you. If you're looking for vampire PORN this is not the book for you. This book is more vampires thinking about sex than vampires having sex.
Well-written, variety of story lengths and topics.
Not enough sex.

About author

This is a collection of ten vampire stories by various authors, edited by Pam Keesey. Pam is a well-known author and editor of books on horror, and the editor of HorrorZine, an online magazine about horror movies.

The stories range in length from 4 to 62 pages. Whether you're looking for a quick tale to heat up your night, or a longer story to get engrossed in, if you like vampires, there's something here for you.

Content / Style / Audience

The stories in Daughters of Darkness are definitely not porn. These are stories that are about vampires, space vampires, and people who like vampires. The stories mostly just hint at sex rather than tell the tales of sex. They are very detailed and well-written stories, they're just not sex stories.

These stories are much more about vampires and THINKING about sex, than they are actual sex stories.

This book is more sensual than sexual and more about mental sex than physical sex.

For someone who likes vampire stories, this is a great book.

Daughters of Darkness is a sturdy, well-made (like all of the Cleis Press books) trade paperback, closing out at 235 pages, with an additional ten or so pages of references (Filmography and Bibliography). The cover does say "lesbian vampire tales" and although it features ladies with fangs in closeup. It does NOT say 'erotic stories' anywhere on the cover, so in that sense it could be considered a discreet cover.

Personal comments

This book was descriptive of the blood and other vampire-inflicted damage in the stories which to me is not sexy.
Follow-up commentary
This is a high-quality book, but the stories are just not my cup of tea. I'm giving it to my bisexual friend who loves vampires.
