Helpful, but not groundbreaking

Good for people who've just started to think about/have difficulties with lack of orgasm. Nothing new - if you've been searching for orgasm help for years, look elsewhere.

As someone who has never had an orgasm, I was, of course, intrigued by the premise. I was a bit more disappointed that a condition of the book for it to work - as stated by the author - was that you must be bothered by the fact that you've never had an orgasm. I suppose this is to ensure people will truly try the techniques within, but what about accepting where you are but also wanting to move forward? While there were some interesting insights and suggestions, I, unfortunately, didn't feel there was anything new here.

The first part of the book focuses on the basics - what orgasm is, as well as potential reasons that someone can't come, etc. The latter part focuses on changes you can make to achieve orgasm - not just changes in bed but lifestyle and relationship changes as well. Sprinkled throughout the book are exercises and questionnaires to help you consider your own sexuality a little more closely. I did enjoy these - I think asking questions about yourself is an important part of growth. There is a lot of focus on the mental and emotional reasons that can hold one back from orgasming, and I comment Dr. Cass for mentioning them. It's a great start if you've never done any reading before. However, my guess is that most women who can't come, have done some research on their own and found a lot of the ideas in this book if a bit more simplified. If you want more information on common theories or suggestions, this is a good place to be.

Overall I think this is a lovely book, but it is a bit too simplistic for anyone who has been dealing with this issue for a long time. If you are looking for something that has a slightly different approach and is more encouraging to all results (not focusing solely on orgasm), I highly recommend Come As You Are.
