I'm bringing sexy back

Are you a woman that feels you have lost what it takes to be sexy and confident or didn't know what sexy was in the first place? Are you already confident, but could always learn something new to add to your bag of tricks? Regardless of the answer, this book is a great read for any woman at any walk of life that just wants to learn a couple things about herself.

extremely useful review
I suffer with low self-esteem issues. My friends tell me frequently that I am the only one that sees my imperfections, that in reality I'm cute. I know as a total package this is true, but in my eyes I see a 30 year old woman who has two children. Where her tummy iss not as flat as it once was, her thighs are a little thicker than they use to be, and her breasts never grew beyond the stage of prepubescence. This is the reason I wanted to read the Power of Wow by Lori Bryant Woolridge.

The book is intended for the reader as the title suggests to “unleash the confident, sexy you.” I knew I had to have this book. I don't usually buy self-help books, but I yearn to be more confident and accepting of myself and finally be able to see myself as my peers see me. I figured I could learn a few tips from the book that could be applied in my life so I picked it up from the Naked Readers Book Club.

The author presents a comprehensive user-friendly nine week program that focuses on the power and pleasure of sensuous living. She shows how women of any age and walk of life can learn or relearn to be healthy, sensual, charming, sexual beings without the need of approval of anyone else.

It is meant to be read as a mini course so you can apply the information presented in the chapters as you go. Each class assignment builds on the next so what is learned one day can be applied tomorrow and every day. She refers to the program as a University and once completed you would achieve a Master in Sensual Arts from Stiletto University. Now how corny is that? I don't even own stilettos. She mentions you can go online to continue your education.

The book is broken into many easy to read sections with clearly defined headings. It has three main sections for women to work on: the Individual Wow, Social Wow, and Sexual Wow. It also offers a welcome introduction. She begins and ends the book with several women that went through her program online and shows how they rate themselves before and after completing the program. At the end of the book, she presents a final exam and you have to grade yourself honestly to see how far you've come when finishing the class based on where you started from with the same test in the beginning. Then finally, after completing the book she has a graduation and has you go forth and apply everything you've learned in the book.

The class assignments do not require very much effort or commitment to follow through and are easy to complete. They allow you to apply the knowledge gained so it can really sink in. She puts all of the power in the reader's hands and what you achieve out of the book depends on how much effort you really put forth in changing yourself.

Under Individual Wow, she allows the reader to throw a pity party and then move on with their new self. She asks questions such as how sensual are you and gives quizzes to show you how sensual you really are. She recommends doing kegel exercises daily and daily walking trips while chanting to yourself the weeks mantra or walking thought. The book also has you pinpoint your seduction style, flirting style, and charismatic style by taking short quizzes. She also wants you to choose a signature scent, symbol, style, sexy, and song. I never thought about any of this, but I've determined my signature scent which is Bath and Body Works Country Chic. My husband and my best friend both tell me I smell really good so I'm going to stick with that.

The book shows women how to be sexy from within for all the right reasons and isn't about being sexy for someone else. It offers concrete, tangible strategies to improve overall confidence. It helps you examine your everyday life and offers practical advice, proven tools and techniques every woman can identify with and use in their life to elevate their self-esteem and maximize their sensuality. I believe all women could benefit from reading this book and learn a few techniques to be a more confident, sensual woman and apply it in their daily life.
Experience
Although it took me longer to read than it did others in the club, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. The book reads quickly and is easy to follow and apply. I read the book straight through and didn't follow her guidelines to use this book as a nine week course, but I did find some useful advice. It is easy to pick up and put down and you can easily pick up right where you left off without any complications.

Before this book, I can honestly say that I was not one to focus on my five senses. In fact, I didn't usually pay attention to anything in my surroundings let alone realize how my senses affect me and my mood. Now after reading the book, I believe I am more familiar with my senses and realize how they affect me personally.

Overall, the book was very insightful. The one thing I learned from this book was that smiling boosts confidence and others perceive you differently. I practiced this on my weekly shopping trip and smiled at complete strangers and they actually smiled back just as she suggests in the book. I highly recommend reading it and it should help nearly every woman who wants to break out of her shell to become a more confident woman.
Follow-up commentary
I still like this book, and try to continue smiling at strangers at Wal-Mart while I'm grocery shopping. I learned alot of useful information while reading this book, and still try to apply what I learned today.
