Sextrology is for the brainy

All in all, I didn't find the book to be as sexy and fun as I expected. And while culture IS sexy, continuously losing track of what the authors were talking about (Galatea who?) was a bit of a turnoff. For me.
Published:
Pros
Clear and appealing division, tons of amusing side notes.
Cons
A little TOO brainy, even for a curious reviewer who mostly associates with programmers.

extremely useful review
I requested this book expecting a little light and fun reading that could give me some external insights into my interactions with my beau. What I didn't expect was a brick the size of most dictionaries with a gazillion references to Greek mythology (something I'm NOT all that familiar with) and sentences that can run on for 8 lines. I'm not gonna lie: I felt dumb reading this, and not because of the projected lightness and superficiality of the subject, but because I had to read lots of sentences over several times because I lost track of the beginning or zoned out. (I may have a mild case of A.D.D.)

I was a little startled as well to read the reviews printed on the back cover AFTER I read the book. I think only Justin Bond actually read the book. Simon Doonan, I don't think you even OPENED the book.

This being said, reading this, I immediately thought of a close friend who this book would be PERFECT for. And if you are fond of Greek mythology, history and literature, you may even be that friend. In which case, I thought you might find this book somewhere in the divination corner of a bookstore, but I certainly didn't know you knew about this website, you saucy little minx!

What you will find in this book is an about 20 page description of each gender of each astrological sign, each divided in:

- Sign & Mind, which has the most Greek Mythology references
- Body & Soul, not much of which was very accurate in our case
- Sex & Sexuality, the most interesting part of the book in my case
- 3 lines on each sign's compatibility with other signs (something I was expecting MUCH more of.)

Photos: none
Icons and cute little side notes in the margins: lots
Props for clear and appealing division of book: lots

A large proportion of each sign's description being references to Greek mythology, some may be disappointed with the amount of insight they get into their current life situations, given the title and reviews printed in the back. I know I was.
