Fragrant and Luscious
This creamy massage lotion is characterized by a gentle, unmistakable fragrance and a nice glide on the skin. The mint and cucumber notes do indeed have the effect of energizing the senses and the pleasant consistency does not leave an oily residue. It works well for massages, but its quick absorption into the skin may mean that frequent reapplication will be necessary.

Jimmyjane’s Beyond Cooling Massage Lotion creates an immediate impression with its unique fragrance. The smell is a sweet, pleasant mixture of mint and cucumber. Not surprisingly, those also happen to be two of the lotion’s main ingredients. The remaining ingredients are a body-friendly combination of oils and vitamins that come together in a very nice massage lotion.
It’s a great choice for those with allergies or sensitive skin as the Beyond Cooling Massage Lotion does not contain parabens, glycerin, or synthetic fragrances.
The consistency is dense and creamy. Directly out of the tube, it’s slightly oilier and waxier than most face creams and hand lotions. The warmth of your hands turns it into a slick, thinner lotion almost immediately. It’s that thinner consistency that makes it perfect for massages as well as for all-over moisturizing.
The slipperiness of the lotion allows one’s hands to glide effortlessly over skin. It allows for strong, long strokes without any friction between hands and skin. Another benefit is the absence of those dramatic temperature shocks that come with oil. Any difference in temperature from tube to skin is almost imperceptible.
Out of curiosity, I placed the lotion in the microwave to see how heating it would impact the consistency. Fifteen seconds turned the lotion into a hot, watery mess. Interestingly enough, the lotion being runny in no way impacted how it worked as a lotion. Once it went from bowl to skin, it functioned as if it had come directly from the tube. It also didn’t retain the heat from the microwave for more than a few seconds.
The other end of the spectrum – the “cooling” part of Beyond Cooling – is mild. The cucumber and mint fragrance is certainly fresh, but the actual cooling sensation is minimal. There is a slight tingle from the mint oils in the lotion, but it’s very subtle. It is also difficult to tell if it’s the lotion or the massage that’s creating the stimulation on the skin. In all likelihood it’s the combination of the two and the result is a nice combination of relaxation and excitement.
Blowing on the lotion or adding water/liquid does not enhance the slipperiness. It also doesn’t impact the cooling sensation.
The lotion absorbs very well into the skin. After a minute of stroking and massaging, the lotion sinks into the skin and leaves behind a smooth softness and a slight oiliness. A few minutes later, the oiliness is completely gone and there’s only a very luxurious feeling of silky skin. The absence of any sticky residue is a welcome benefit, but it also comes with a drawback. Because it absorbs so well, it also requires frequent reapplication if the massage continues for longer than roughly fifteen minutes.
The Beyond Cooling Massage Lotion tastes oily and leaves a slight film on the tongue. It tastes better than many sexual lubricants, but that’s a dubious compliment. If you are comfortable ingesting Astroglide or other massage lotions and oils, you should have no problem adding your mouth to your hands when giving a massage with this lotion.
If you are using the lotion as a body lotion, clean-up should not be a concern. If you are interested in washing off the lotion, a quick shower is all it takes.
