Use

Shunga massage cream is an edible, wonderfully scented cream that can be used to set the mood, or to just soften the skin. It comes in 4 different scents: Raspberry Kiss, Mint, Cherry, and Vanilla Fields. Of these 4 scents, I have tried all but the mint. Its target buyers are more than likely all going to be women, aside from men who are buying it for a partner, though anyone can use it. It leaves a scent that matches the name of the scent, so most men wouldn't want to smell like raspberries or cherry! So while it can be great for both parties during a nice sensual massage, it is more likely to be used by women for out of the bedroom purposes.

Because of the glycerin, women who are sensitive to this ingredient or prone to infections "down there" will want to avoid applying this to the genital region. It also contains honey, so those with severe bee allergies may want to use caution if you plan to use this product.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This product is very creamy, not as thick as a body butter, but a much thicker consistency than a lotion. It spreads well and rubs in without any greasy residue left on the surface of the skin. It is fairly thick, so it lasts for a long time on the skin, to moisturize it. During a massage, it stays in place and does not run, so if you put a glob of it on someone's back, you won't have to worry about it running down the sides of their back before you have a chance to rub it in. It leaves the skin feeling velvety smooth, and is not sticky at all. If you use it as a moisturizer for the skin, once it is applied, unless you wash your hands or wherever you have applied it, it should continue to keep your skin feeling hydrated for at least 4-5 hours before another application is needed.

Taste / Aroma

Overall: Each jar smells very similar to what you would expect it to, based on the name. There is no chemical smell or taste to any of the three I have tried, and the taste is very accurate as well to the flavor name. In the jar, the smell is more prominent and strong, while on the skin it is more subtle. The scents last for maybe an hour, but you have to actually hold your hands up to your nose to smell them after about 15 minutes or so. The taste seems to die out along with the smell, but the moisturizing properties stick around much longer.

Vanilla Fields: This smells and tastes like a vanilla bean ice cream. Of the three, the scent and taste are much more subtle, and the taste doesn't stick around quite as long. It also happens to have a more sweet taste to it than the other two.

Raspberry Kiss: This one smells very much like fresh raspberries, and has more of a mixed berry taste to it, with raspberry being more prominent. The aroma is the most long-lasting of the three, but the taste sticks around just slightly longer than the vanilla.

Cherry: For this, there were mixed reactions. I thought it smelled like you would expect cherry ice cream to smell. Cherry with a little hint of something else. I personally loved the smell, but my hubby said it smelled a lot like cherry cough medicine. I couldn't seem to detect that, but we each had our own thoughts on it. The taste was very similar to cherries, more specifically when you buy maraschino cherries, and drink the syrup, it tastes like the syrup. Hubby thought so too, so at least he enjoyed the taste, but I now use it for a moisturizer only, since he can't enjoy the scent of it with me.

Performance

As far as hydration goes, 4-5 hours is not bad. During a typical work-day, it would only need one reapplication, provided you don't have to wash your hands. Of course, sweat will cause it to wear off more quickly as well. If you were to wash it off of your hands with just water and no soap, it would come off easily, even with air drying and no wiping with a towel afterwards. This means cleanup is easy if used for a sensual massage and you don't care to keep it on your skin. A simple wet washcloth will remove it right away, as will just jumping in the shower and letting the water take it off for you.

It doesn't stain, which I found out after accidentally getting some of the raspberry scented cream on a light-colored comforter, and I was able to just wipe it up with a damp cloth. I wiped it off within 1 hour's time, so if you leave it sitting for several hours, it may not clean up as easily, but I personally don't think it would stain even after that long of a period of time.

Before rubbing it in:

After rubbing it in with both hands, for only about 4 seconds:

    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Allergy concerns
    • Feels natural

Packaging

The packaging for this product is not exactly discreet, nor is the jar it comes in, though it could also pass for just an oriental design, if one were to not look too closely at it. Both the packaging and the jar have phrases like "Shunga Erotic Art" which is the manufacturer name, and as for example with the vanilla fields, it says "Vanilla Fetish". While this was not an issue for me, those who want to remain more discreet may want to keep it put away in a drawer.

Box it comes in:

Jar:

The size itself is great for travel, though if you plan to fly, you may want to check with the requirements for liquids and such, before packing it in your carry-on. Each jar contains 200ml of product, which can last quite a while depending on how much you use and how often.

It is easy to use, simply pull open the flap on the box and unscrew the lid of your jar once you've taken it out. There will be a little flap sitting on top of the cream between the jar and lid, which you can keep there to maintain freshness and prevent it from making a mess by getting on the lid and in the threads that the lid screws onto the jar with. Personally, I leave them on.
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Not discreet
    • Travel friendly

Experience

I really love these creams and plan to get more of the raspberry and vanilla when they run out! I love how velvety my skin feels after a massage, I love the taste, and I use it often! I plan to try the mint, so maybe for my follow-up, I will be able to include it!

I have the cherry and love it but held off on getting more in other scents because other reviewers say theirs is soupy. I'm still confused but glad to hear your is like mine. I may try others... Thanks!
