Sensual kit discontinued

If only the star was sold separately...

Shots Media's Passionate Kit is a prepackaged massage/romantic kit that can be a nice addition to a steamy weekend or evening. However, most of the items are not of the best (or even decent) quality and you are unable to choose which massage oil you get in the kit. But the plastic star shaped massager is nice and I wish it was made available separately.

Use

Shots Media's Passionate kit is a massage/romantic kit that can be easily grabbed for a weekend away or a romantic night at home, or given as a gift. Included in the kit is a five contact point star shaped massager, a 50 ml. bottle of massage oil, four tea lights, an eye mask, and a package of fabric rose petals.

Ingredients listed on the massage oil bottle are (I received Peppermint):
Peppermint oil, Almond oil, Olive oil, Sesame oil, Wheatgerm oil, Juniperberry oil, Peanut oil, Rice Bran oil, Sunflower oil, Cotton Seed oil, Grapeseed oil, Jojoba oil, Apricot oil, Carrotseed oil

If you have any allergies to any of the ingredients, please do not use the massage oil. Also, according to other reviews, the reviewers received different massage oils. Thus I am assuming that each kit comes with a different massage oil that you won't know what it is until you open the kit.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The Touché massage oil is thin and, well, massage oil. I noticed no difference between this and any other massage oil I've ever used. A gentle squeeze of the bottle allows it to drip nicely from the opening in the bottle and the oil spreads easily over skin without feeling sticky. It is oil, so it can leave skin feeling a bit greasy unless toweled or washed off. Again, as it is oil, it could leave stains or marks on clothing or linens, so take the same normal precautions you would when using any massage oil.

Taste / Aroma

The massage oil I received was Peppermint. Its scent reminds me of peppermint candies; it smells sugary rather than just mentholated. The smell isn't overwhelming, though you can get a nice noseful while massaging with the oil. Washing the oil off with soap and water will remove the scent.

As this is not labeled as an edible massage oil, I did not taste it nor do I recommend others trying it.

Performance

The massage oil itself performed well. No better or worse than any other massage oil I've ever tried; after massaging, the oil needs to be either toweled or washed off. I will say though that I do rather like the bottle it comes in. I haven't noticed any leaking from the bottle, though I always store it upright just in case. What I like the most is how the cap allows me to dispense only a drop of oil at a time without worrying about squeezing out too much.

The four "mood candles" are just your average unscented tea lights; though instead of tin/metal cups, they are in plastic ones. Place the candles in a glass votive/tea light holder and remember to keep an eye on those plastic cups because I personally wasn't able to remove the candles from them.

The eye mask is surprisingly of nice quality for a simple, lower priced kit. It's not the best out there, but it was nicer than I had expected. It's 8 1/2" across at the widest spot, and 3" high in the middle (from nose groove to top). It is made from two pieces of material sewn together - the front feels like smooth cotton, the back reminds me of thin terrycloth. There is also a long triangle of material attached to the bottom which helps block out light around the nose area. The mask has two elastic straps with small plastic clips on the right side which help to adjust the fit of the mask for each wearer. The mask is also completely opaque and I was unable to see any light whatsoever through it.

The rose petals are honestly the worst part of the kit. The packaging label is weird and doesn't fit in with the rest of the kit. It definitely looks like it was just thrown in without any thought. The petals themselves are made from rough, woven material that sheds and frays very easily. The bag should have at least 100 petals (though each bag will probably have more - mine had 132). They're not the nicest fake rose petals available - if you really wish to use fake rose petals, simply search Eden and purchase nicer ones.

The star shaped massager is definitely the nicest part of the kit. It's made from a hard plastic which is mostly smooth, except for the seams around the middle of the ball contact points. The star reminds me of a large sheriff star badge that you'd find in a child's play kit (though with the points curved back instead of straight). From the tip of one ball diagonally across to another is 6"; the star is a nice size and a bit bigger than my hand. Each ball is just under an inch in diameter and 3" in circumference. The massager is easy to handle and control while gliding it across skin.

Packaging

The Passionate Kit comes in a black cardboard box which is perfect for storage of all of the items. It is not entirely discreet: the front of the box says "Passionate Kit" in large white letters with "For romantic nights & thrilling massages" underneath. The back shows a simple photo of the box's items along with a brief paragraph about the kit and a content list in English and three other languages.

There is a ribbon on the top that is intended as a handle. The top of the box has two flaps that fold up to open, then back down to close the box. The entire box is shrink-wrapped in plastic - if you wished to give this as a gift, you could remove the plastic (and the crappy rose petals from the kit) and add other small items to the box.

Experience

To be honest, the best part of this kit is the star shaped, plastic massager. Most of the other items I found to be rather cheap and not worth the price. I do think the massager and oil should be sold separately because I would like the opportunity to choose what oil I receive and I do really like the massager. And honestly, the massager is the only piece that I continue to use out of the kit.

While the massager does work nice while giving someone else a massage (and offers a different sensation than my hands), I like using the massager on myself. If my shoulders and back of my neck are sore and I don't feel like using a vibrating wand massager, the star massager works nicely (using one or two of the contact points). Though you do have to be careful with the scratchy seams along the middle of the balls. I also enjoy using this to massage my legs when they're sore from exercise or just to increase circulation.

But I have to say that my favorite use for the massager is on my hands and feet. I crochet and knit (and do both very fast), and crocheting fast usually makes my hands sore, stiff and achy. Rubbing one of the massager balls into my palms feels very nice. It even works wonders as a foot massager, especially since skin on skin contact on my feet is too ticklish for me.

Overall, I really don't think this kit is worth the price. Most of the items are of cheap quality and I could get better ones either here on Eden or at a dollar store. However, the massage oil was nice and I do really like the star massager. I just wish that they were sold separately where I could choose what oil I get.
Follow-up commentary
I still don't care for this kit. And I got rid of most of the items that came with it. I think the candles are in a drawer somewhere - can always use some tea lights if the electricity goes out - and I have the star massager in a "catch all" type container in my room...other than that, out everything else went.
