"Meh"nage a trois

This is a decent shaving kit for someone who is not prone to ingrown hairs or razor burn. However, I feel that the price for the shaving creme is inflated, as it is just hair conditioner, and that this product didn't lessen my ingrown hairs despite using as directed. My suggestion would be to skip getting the shave creme and purchase the spray and powder separately if you want to try these products!

Use

The Simple Sensual Shave Trio from Classic Erotica consists of a shaving cream, an after shaving protection spray to help reduce razor burn and ingrown hairs, and an after shaving/waxing powder to prevent chafing and rashes. All three items have many natural ingredients, complimentary scents, and are meant to be used together. The shave cream does provide a close shave, while the spray helps to close the pores afterwards and provide a little bit of protection for your freshly bare skin. (It also burns like crazy for a few intense seconds, so be warned!) The protection powder helps to soften your skin and then soak up any remaining traces of the spray.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The shave cream is the consistency of your average hair conditioner. This is because it (dun dun dun....) *is* hair conditioner. It has a thick and creamy consistency and spreads out well on my legs without dripping. I didn't notice any sort of residue after I rinsed it off.

The spray is an alcohol based product, and it comes out in a light spray. It dries fairly quickly, and I found it to be slightly tacky to the touch for a few minutes. After it thoroughly dries, the tackiness goes away, as does the alcohol smell. I did experience a bit of drippage with this, but it didn't pour down my skin.

The powder is a pink-y purple colour, and comes with a little powder poof for application. It has the same consistency as baby powder, and is chalky and silky to the touch. It also gets *everywhere*, so you will want to pat this on while you are somewhere that is easy to clean up (I just did it in the bathtub.) and also be careful if you are planning on wearing dark coloured panties or clothing!

Taste / Aroma

The scent for this trio is pomegranate ginger, which is a fresh botanical type smell. I honestly can't detect the sharp spice of ginger or the tartness of pomegranate. It's a very generic 'bathroom product' type scent. I didn't hate it, but was definitely not wowed by a natural product not smelling how it is supposed to. The scent remains on my skin for 15 or so minutes after I get out of the shower, but disappears soon after that. When I tried the shaving creme/conditioner on my hair, the scent lasted most of the morning, as hair does absorb scents better than skin. The protection spray does have a strong alcohol scent that goes away as the alcohol base evaporates, and I barely noticed any residual scent. The powder is very sweetly scented, and the scent does stick around for a while, so you might want to skip both this and the spray if you are planning on having oral sex sometime later that day. There might be traces of the products still on your skin, and I doubt that your partner would enjoy the way they taste!

Performance

In use, this trio was not all that I had hoped it would be. I am prone to ingrown hairs and irritation when I shave, and was optimistic that this would help cut down on at least some of my normal irritation. However, after using all three of these in succession several times, I had what feels like the same amounts of ingrown hairs, razor burn, and redness. I also experimented with using combinations of just one or two of the shave trio. I found that if I stuck with my normal shaving routine and just used the protection spray, I had a bit less irritation than I normally did, but not enough that I would be purchasing that product again.

Packaging

This set comes packaged in a waterproof shower bag/caddy. It closes with a drawstring, and is see through. I didn't keep mine, as bathtub space is at a premium right now, and it was much easier to keep the shave cream in the tub and put the other two products into a cupboard. The labels on all the products are definitely discreet and the most explicit thing on them is a mention that they can be used on your bikini area.

I would probably put these products into a ziplock baggie before taking them traveling with me. The powder does tend to collect in the grooves of the lid, and it would suck to have that all over your clothing. The shave cream also has the potential to leak, as I was unable to lock the pump dispenser.

Personal comments

I was really disappointed in the shaving cream in this trio. I normally use conditioner from Walmart to shave my legs, underarms, and bikini area, and while my shave is not always perfect, I have found that it works just as well as traditional shaving creams or gels. For my 22.5 oz bottle of Suave, I pay roughly $2. The shaving cream in this trio is actually a hair conditioner (it says so on the bottle), and costs $12 for 8 oz. I cannot recommend you buying the shave cream for that reason alone. However, the other two products would be worth investing in separately if you are someone who is not prone to ingrown hairs or really bad razor burn.
Follow-up commentary
I haven't used the powder or mist since my review. The shaving cream/conditioner is being used, but mostly just to get rid of the bottle, rather than throwing it out. It does work well as a shaving cream for my legs, but I'll be going back to using dollar store conditioner as shaving cream as soon as this is finished.
