Use

Rose Petal Soap Flakes by California Exotic are just what they say they are, rose shaped and scented soap flakes for the bath. Sprinkle them on top of hot, steaming, bathwater, light a few candles, turn on some music, and slip into romantic bliss with your partner or just yourself. Just be careful, put these soap flakes in with running water and you'll end up with a rose scented bubble bath! Hey, at least when they melt away they turn up the romance instead of fizzling it out.

These soap flakes are made from pure, bar, soap. They have both color and fragrance. If you or your partner are allergic to soap you may want to avoid these. Also, be sure to rinse off thoroughly after the bath as these will leave a residue similar to bar soap on the skin. My boyfriend and I just shower each other off after.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The rose petals, while they look as soft as silk, are very firm when dry. They're about the size and thickness of a large rose petal. Place them in the water though and they will melt away in a matter of minutes. Alas, these don't last long in the tub but keep reading, even when they're not there they still enhance the mood.

Taste / Aroma

The Rose Petals are scented somewhere between a new baby doll and roses. I really can't get over the scent. It's not really erotic but it sure is wonderful. Once the petals have melted into the water my entire bathroom becomes perfumed with the smell. My bathwater becomes rosewater. What's more romantic than taking a bath with your sweetie in rose water?

Performance

Once I had the candles lit, the music playing, my boyfriend undressing, and the water running, I put a hand full of rose petals in the bathtub. They looked amazing with their light pinks and deep reds. Each petal floated on the top of the tub, making everything seem realistic. Once my boyfriend and I slipped into the tub the petals began to melt, perfuming the water with their luscious aroma. Because the bathwater was still running, a few of the petals turned into suds, creating a small but romantic bubble bath for the two of us.

Packaging

The Rose Petals arrived in an adorable clear, plastic, heart shaped container complete with a white, sheer ribbon. A rose sticker reads Rose Soap Flakes. A silver, metallic, sticker lines the container and keeps it closed. It works so well that I had a time getting it off. I clawed the sticker, pulled it, and worked it away until finally I was able to pry the container open.

Because the container keeps the petals dry it is perfect for storage. It's also suitable for gifting just the way it is.

Follow-up commentary
As odd as this may sound, the chemistry of your water effects the performance of the soap flakes. I saved a few petals and put them in the tub for a second time around. Now, in my area, our water is treated with several different chemicals at different times of the month so the chemistry is always changing. This time, they melted into a goo, did not bubble, and gave me a rash! Although they worked the first time and created a romantic evening, I would suggest that you place a few petals into the tub first, see how they melt (melt away into bubbles or goo) and then decide if you want to proceed. Would I use these again? Yes, because they should work at certain times of the month but I will always use caution.

Thank you for the review. I had my eye on this for Valentines Day (gift to myself) and you made it sound so unbelievably relaxing and romantic. I was curious how many times do you think you can use this before having to buy more?

These are so cute. Thanks for the review
  • Contributor: Heartthrob
Danellejohns, about twice depending on the size of your bathtub. If you have a big claw foot, once. If you have a slender modern tub, twice.

Jobthingy, I'm glad it was useful!
