Rub me up, rub me down!

After hearing many great things about massage candles, I thought it was the right time for my partner and I to give one a try. This candle really helped set a nice calming tone for the nights we used it. My partner was happy that this oil didn't leave him smelling girly and it really relaxed us both after our massages. I am so glad we found one that had all natural ingredients and came in such a nice variety of scents to choose from.

The ONO massage candle comes in three scents: lemon grass/shea butter, french vanilla/shea butter and red mandarin/shea butter.

The ingredients are as follows: Glycine soja (soy) wax, butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), prunus armeniaca (apricot) kernel oil, perfume (benzyl benzoate, vanillin)

When I opened the tin I noticed the wax was ivory in color and firm to the touch. After it burned, it turned into a clear oil that was easy to apply. The consistency felt like a warm baby oil, nice and smooth. After massaging for a few minutes, the oil absorbs quickly into the skin.

My candle scent was the lemongrass/shea butter option and while I thought the scent would be one I would be able to enjoy throughout our bedroom, it was just not to be. The scent was very nice yet light upon opening the tin. Once burning, the scent is faint and unless you are close to the candle you won't smell it.
The lemongrass smelled like a combination of fresh cut grass and a lemonhead candy. It smelled incredible! Once I had used it for our massages, the scent was only noticeable if you had your nose close to the area that was just massaged.

Since this is not intended to be an edible product, we didn't try to taste it.

We lit our candle and waited for half an hour, thinking that would give us enough oil to use. We were so wrong! It melted just enough for the oil to cover his back and his arms. After using the candle twice, melting enough for us both to have a full massage I can see this candle will only work a handful of times at this rate. Even though the oil is high quality, the 4.4 ounce tin is just not big enough.

When I poured the oil, I had to tip the candle a little bit and the oil poured out smooth with no solid parts of the candle coming with it. The tricky part was trying to pour while you still had some of the oil on your hands. I only wish the tin came with a pour spout for easier use. The oil absorbed into our skin easily and left us both feeling moisturized but not greasy. The areas that were massaged felt nice and soft for several hours afterward.

The box the candle arrives in a beautiful black box with the instructions printed on it. The tin is small and the writing and information are discreet enough that we have ours sitting out on the dresser. There was a small round pamphlet included in the tin that had the instructions in English, German, and French.
