The Treasure Trove Gift Tin, by Kama Sutra, is a delicious edition to any couple's nightstand. It comes in a pretty cardboard box filled with shredded paper.

When I opened the box the first time, M said, "It smells like an old lady." To me, it smells like strawberries and champagne. Maybe I'm an old lady.

Inside, you'll find Kama Sutra's Honey Dust Body Powder, Oil of Love, Stimulating Pleasure Balm, all edible, and a feather applicator. For the purpose of this review, I'll discuss each product separately.

Feather and Honey Dust -

The feather applicator is packaged in a plastic sleeve. It's a cluster of soft brown and black feathers held together by a small wooden knob meant to be the handle. It's used to apply the Honey Dust Body Powder, but can also be used in sensation play. So far, I haven't had a problem with any shedding or loose feathers.

The Honey Dust is in a plastic bag inside a red satin drawstring pouch. You dust it on the skin with the provided feather to add a light fragrance and sweet flavor. It smells kind of like Strawberry Fun Dip and tastes like the stick that comes with it. It's a fine powder with a light flavor that's gone, leaving no after taste, in just a few seconds.

Though the powder is fine, it's a little gritty. Reminiscent of the chalky texture of antacids. And the fragrance is so light that, unless you have your nose directly on the skin, you really can't smell it.

I really wasn't all that impressed by the Honey Dust. It's not bad. I guess I just expected there to be more of a fragrance.

Oil -

The Oil of Love was the main reason we bought this gift tin. It's an edible massage oil that heats with friction.

It comes in a glass bottle with a cork stopper. It's simple, yet elegant, with it's black and gold label sprayed with red flowers.

I popped the cork on this baby the night it showed up on my doorstep. Within minutes of us getting home, I had an amount about the size of a quarter in my hand and M stripped from the waist down so I could get busy on his aching knees.

The first swipe of my hand across his knee produced a moan full of pleasure and relief. He said the oil heated nicely and had the affect of a heating pad laying across his lap. The pain in his knees began to subside and he was able to lay back and just enjoy the massage.

They got the flavor right on this one. It tastes just like strawberries soaked in champagne. You can almost feel the bubbles bursting on your tongue. It is, in a word, delicious.

I'm not really fond of the texture. The oil is thick and viscous. It doesn't absorb into the skin much at all. I originally thought maybe it was just cause I used too much; rubbed too little. So I used less and rubbed more the next time. It still left M's skin sticky and slimy, which is a definite turn off for him.

However, he does enjoy the warming affect so when we're looking to ease his pain, this is the oil he asks me to use. Overall, we like this product. If it wasn't so sticky, it would be our favorite massage oil.

Pleasure Balm -

Ingredients: Water, sucrose, glycerin, alcohol denat., polysorbate 80, carbomer, xanthan gum, flavor, menthyl lactate, potassium sorbate, sodium hydroxide, sodium saccharine, red 40, red 33.

The pleasure balm comes in an orangish plastic tube with a black lid. It's a red gel with a texture similar to a water-based lube. The label says to use this pleasure balm externally and that it may cause irritation in sensitive places. It's dermatologist tested, hypoallergenic and latex safe.

The flavor of this gel is more champagne than strawberries. It's got an alcoholic flavor to it, but not so much that it detracts from the tastiness. And when it hits your tongue you get that minty fresh feeling that only brushing gives.

The pleasure balm can be applied to the penis, clitoris or nipples. When used correctly, it gives a nice, tingly feeling. The first time we used the gel, M didn't feel anything. So I applied more. It was too much. Within minutes, he was running to the shower.

Once we figured out how much to use, we enjoyed the pleasure balm. For us, it was just a small dot in the palm, but it could be different for others. I'd suggest starting out small and working up to your happy medium.

I'm really glad we bought this gift tin. I recommend this product to pretty much everyone.
Follow-up commentary
The aroma of this kit has sort of lost its appeal for me. It's possible it's just a phase. I have a tendency to go through fragrance phases. But for right now, nothing in this tin ever comes out anymore.

The sticky syrupy-ness of the Oil of Love is too much unless we're planning on getting in the shower right away. And that burn kind of turned us off to the arousal gel.

However, that being said, when M's having serious joint or muscle pain, this is still, hands down, the best massage oil to relieve it. The heating properties of the Oil of Love combined with a rub down eases the pain almost immediately.

Did you have any problems with the oil having leaked in the box before opening? I have the tangerine and cream and i agree the oil is quite thick. I expected something more drizzly.
  • Contributor: Rayne Millaray
No we didn't. Our oil was sealed up pretty tight before opening and doesn't seem to leak now that it's open, either. However, I do make sure to store it somewhere out of the way so it hasn't gotten knocked over. Yet.

I want this in raspberry and am having to slap myself to keep myself from ordering it.

    Which is amusing but...

So... my birthday is coming up. *hint hint* Winking

@Carrie - I want them all! The raspberry is hella good, though. I used to work in a green store in the mall years ago and they carried every flavor of the Oil of Love except tangerine. Good, good, good stuff. Except the chocolate. It sucks.

@Laurel - Well, I mean, you missed mine. Nevermind we didn't even know each other then. :oP
