Organic Orgasm?

Hydra is a great organic lubricant for those looking for more "green" options in the bedroom or just looking for something containing only natural ingredients. It lasts a fair amount of time for intercourse but for me the smell was just too strong and floral.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Hydra is a slight bit thicker than some water based lubricants but not by much and it isn't sticky at all. It feels wet, silky and slippery to me. It comes out easy when squeezed from the bottle. As for it staying in place, it may have been the amount my partner had on but I noticed it drip from his penis when getting ready to straddle me. When I applied it myself it didn't seem to run at all.

Taste / Aroma

I have no idea what the scent is but it is VERY strong. I noticed some people wrote it had a chemical smell but to me it smelled somewhat floral. Like a real flower. This may be pleasant to some but I'm allergic to flowers and floral scents really bother my allergies and make my eyes water, this did. It did not irritate my vagina, just my eyes and sense of smell. My partner said it smelled bad and 'weird', that is all I could get out of him. Because it isn't a flavored lubricant I didn't attempt to taste it and because of the floral scent, I have no desire to do so. Flower isn't a flavor I want to taste.

Performance

We were talked into this over the JO (but in all honesty I would have picked the JO) as a lubricant that was glycerin free, non-sticky and long lasting. I let my fiance choose which one he wanted since he is the one that complains or is bothered by some of the lubricants I like that he claims are sticky or don't last long. I don't know what lube the salesgirl was using but this is NOT something I would have recommended. I was looking at the JO or the Pink Water. I never would have picked this up if I was shopping by myself. Like I sad the smell was strong and just horrible to me. It wasn't very thick, which is the point so that was a plus. It was very silky and slippery feeling. But to be honest, I didn't care for this lube and neither did he despite it being long lasting. I'm not real sure what we were expecting but this wasn't it for sure. We'll use it until it's gone but won't be buying another bottle. I didn't feel the need to wash it off because it soaks into the skin pretty well and it doesn't feel sticky. While rubbing it on my hand in the store it soaked up fairly quick but when having sex it seemed to last longer and we didn't need to re-apply it. Because it's all organic it's safe to use with any material of toys you own. It does leave your skin feeling soft but I just can't get past the smell. But like I said, floral scents irritate my allergies so it may not bother most people.

Packaging

The bottle is pretty friendly, by that I mean it doesn't scream "I'm not a sexual lubricant". It has the torso of a woman with what looks to be a leaf or blade of grass with drops of dew or water on it. It states that it is certified organic, pure vegan and glycerin free lubricant and made from plant cellulose. It says Intimate Organics across the top. I would say it's bit discreet, it isn't offense and just at a glance looks like a bath/beauty product for women so it should be safe left out or to travel with. I wouldn't be worried about it since personal lubricants don't always mean SEX and the bottle isn't sexual at all. It's easy to pour and can be opened with one hand.
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Easy to use / dispense
Follow-up commentary
I'm not a HUGE fan of this lubricant because the smell doesn't appeal to me. But aside from the smell it is a decent lubricant and is great for people looking for organic lubricants without all the chemicals, especially glycerin. It is a bit expensive but it seems to be that way for all the "safer" lubricants. If you just like more natural "green" products or have sensitivities to other lubes then this stuff would be a great choice for you.

Excellent review. I'm reading about that smell a lot, so I think I'll be skipping this one
