Our Favorite Lube!

Eros Aqua isn't the cheapest water-based lube out there, but it is our favorite lube. We find that its slipperiness means that we use less lube than other brands, increasing the value, and it closely mimics our natural lubrication so we don't feel like we're all greased up or sticky after sex!

Use

We use Pjur Aqua for vaginal and anal intercourse, and for lubricating our many toys (butt plugs, dildos, vibrators, anal beads, vaginal balls, etc.). It is a very thin lube (closely mimicking natural lubrication), so some may not find it thick enough for anal sex and toys, but we find it works great for anal use as long as you take the time to make sure plenty is applied. Because it is water based, you can use it with all of your toys regardless of material and it works great with latex condoms, too. We find that it stays slick for a very long time and when it starts to "lose its oomph", it just gets less slick and never gets sticky.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This is a very thin lube—to the point of being runny. On glass or metal toys it doesn't stay put like thicker lubes, although we haven't had a problem with this as it quickly spreads around once the toy is inserted. But, because of how runny it is, you'll want to apply it right before insertion so you don't waste product dripping all over the place.

It is extremely slick, and while not as slick as a silicone product, it does approach that degree of slipperiness. About a nickel-sized spot of lube is all that is required for vaginal intercourse or toys. Neither of us provide much natural lubrication on our own, so this tells you how slick the product is. Because of this, we find it to be reasonably priced since multiple applications are rarely needed for vaginal intercourse or toys.

Of course for anal sex more lube is needed (you are using lots of lube for anal, right?!!), and we do tend to re-apply to ensure a comfortable ride. But even so, we find that we use far less lube than Maximus or other popular thick water-based products.

Taste / Aroma

One of our favorite qualities of Pjur Aqua is that it has no taste and no smell. No reall—we're serious! There's no hesitation at going down on each other after the lube has been used because we don't have to worry about that soapy or bitter taste we've had with other water-based lubes. That makes it great for oral after, or in the midst of, intercourse!

Performance

We find this lube to be very slippery and it lasts a long time. Unlike Liquid Silk, this lube is not absorbed like lotion. Instead it tends to stay on the skin and gradually dry up, but never gets sticky. It cleans up very easily with soap and water. If we don't have time for a shower after sex, a damp towel or washcloth easily removes most of the lube from the skin.

It washes off of our toys quite well with only soap and water.

Packaging

The bottles this lube is packaged in are just adequate. The lids screw on very securely, but because the trade dress of Eros is the smooth cylindrical bottle, it is not easy to get the lid off (or on) when your hands are covered in lube! We would prefer a pump or a flip cap, even though these methods are not always the best for travel. The screw cap is great for travel but not so great during use.

One thing we like about this particular Eros product is the bottles simply describe the product as "personal lubricant". We keep our bottles of lube in the nightstand and we would prefer not to have bottles that say "Anal Lubricant" or "Ass Pounding Cream" or whatever. We're not prudes about sex with our kids but the somewhat discreet "personal lubricant" is preferred!

Experience

Despite our love for this product, there is one thing about it that we don't particularly like—it sometimes stains our sheets and towels. We're not talking about dark stains, just a shadow that can be seen in some light. We've tried different detergents and wash temperatures to remove the stains to no avail. We've had the same thing happen with Liquid Silk and Maximus, so it isn't unique to this lube. Thought we should tell you, though.
Follow-up commentary
This is still our favorite lube even though it is a bit more expensive than some lubes out there. It keeps our parts comfortably slick without getting sticky.
