Toko aqua - lubricant discontinued by Shunga Erotic Art - review by ~LaUr3n~

What a great idea...a lubricant that is aqua based and yet still works well with water because it is re-activated by water! Finally a solution to using those silicone toys in the shower and other water environments. The people at Shunga get a high-five from me for this one. This lubricant blends well with your natural lubricants and is also lengthened by them. This can be used out of water as well as solo or during sex. The generous bottle will last a long time and not for a bad price either!

For those with concerns, here are the ingredients:

Aqua, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Polyquaternium, MethylParaben, PropylParaben

Note that this lubricant contains glycerin. Glycerin can encourage microbe growth and infection in some women. Many lubricants and other products on the market contain this and it helps to produce a longer lasting lubricant and doesn't bother a large amount of people who use it. I have never experienced this but some women are more likely than others to be sensitive to this ingredient. If you have been using products of this type and have not had a problem, chances are you won't with this either. Use caution if you have.

The texture of Toko Aqua is smooth and silky. It has a good consistency and is thicker than a lot of water based lubricants that I have tried. It is also easy to squeeze out. I love both of these aspect because it didn't drip everywhere when I put it on myself or toy. It stayed put for the most part until I spread it where I wanted. At a certain point the lubricant will get thicker and less silky like when first applied. If you don't add more lubricant, it will feel a bit sticky, but this can be fixed with adding water.

Toko Aqua has very little smell. It kind of smells like children's bubbles, but very faint. It isn't foul and is not really noticeable either. It barely lingers on the skin. It actually kind of helps reduce the smell of condoms in some cases. It tastes like bubbles too weirdly enough and has a slight sting to it at first. I would wash this off before performing oral.

This lubricant is among the best that I have tried, especially for the being water based and in the lower price bracket. I am seriously impressed. I used it in a few different ways. For sex I used about a quarter-sized amount and found that if I was super wet, no replication was needed. It blended so well with my natural juices that I didn't even feel like I was using lubricant. It felt super silky and didn't irritate my partner or me at all. It didn't leave us feeling icky afterward either. If I wasn't as wet, a bit needed to be reapplied, without a condom, after about 15 minutes. If it did get thicker, it didn't make sex unpleasant; it just stopped working as a lubricant. The cool thing about this lubricant is that if it thickens up, it can be recharged with water. Your natural juices will keep it going as well.

This worked well with toys too. I used it on silicone, plastic, and glass toys, all were a good experience. It didn't leave any sick residue afterward either and was easy to clean off. Anally, Toko Aqua only works well for toys. I do not recommend it for anal sex. It did ease anal toy play however because it is thick enough.

Using this lubricant in the shower was awesome! It allows the use of silicone toys. Usually a water based lubricant will wash away too easily. This one didn't. It wasn't a miracle worker though; sometimes more had to be applied after a while. But it worked better than any water based lubricant I have tried.

Clean up is easy! Even though this feels natural, you should wash it off because of the glycerin. Just a wet wash cloth with non-abrasive soap will do the trick. It left my skin feeling hydrated.

The bottle is a good size at 5.5 fluid ounces (165 ml). Since you don't need a lot of this when you use it, the bottle will last you a good amount of time. The front says Toko in large letters and in smaller ones below says lubricant. The bottle is clear; but if you look through the front of it, there is a pretty picture printed on the back that you can see through the bottle. It depicts an Asian couple in an embrace. The bottle is super smooth and silky feeling, just like the contents. The black plastic top flips open to dispense the lubricant. I did not notice the bottle leaking at all. The top is easy to open, but harder to close. Make sure to press down firmly. The back has a description of the lubricant and ingredients in three different languages.
