The Pearl of the Ocean

While this lube does dry up a bit faster than some others, its natural slipperiness, food-grade ingredients, organic botanicals, and super high quality makes up for that. It is non-toxic, paraben-free, glycerin-free, petroleum-free, safe for use with all toys or condoms, vegan, made in the USA, not tested on animals, and doesn't stain. What more could you want?

Use

In this corner, we have Sliquid Oceanics: longer lasting than Satin by Sliquid, more natural than most other lubes out there, and slippery with three different kinds of seaweed!

If you aren't offended by lightly floral-scented lubricant, you will love this one. If finding a glycerin-free, paraben-free, hypo-allergenic, natural lube is important to you, you found it here. Water-based lubes are compatible with every kind of toy, every kind of condom, and every body!

These ingredients are seriously amazing. Unlike synthetic lubes, which are chock-full of ingredients that mess with your natural hormones and can cause yeast infections, these ingredients actually have tons of health benefits!

-Carrageenan may help prevent HPV.
-Wakame is a natural source of vitamins A, B, C and E.
-Nori is a natural source of B vitamins, such as folic acid, and minerals, including zinc, iodine, iron and copper. Vitamin E, aloe vera, green tea, hibiscus, and alfalfa serve to soften, moisturize, and soothe skin.
-Flax is a natural source of Omega-3 fatty acids.
-Sunflower seed is a source of amino acids and minerals.

There are some unusual ingredients, so be sure to check out the ingredients if you have any allergies. Happily, this is free from all the beasts most commonly responsible for allergic reaction in lubricants.

Of course, it isn't all roses: Oceanics smells distinctly of hibiscus. If you prefer scent-free lube, go with Satin by Sliquid.

This lubricant is perfect for clitoral stimulation.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The viscosity is somewhere between Sliquid's thicker lubes, like Sassy Booty, and the thinner lubes like Satin by Sliquid.

If you've only tried drugstore lubes like KY and Astroglide, you will be totally amazed by the feel. Unlike cheap lube, Sliquid Oceanics actually absorbs into the skin with surprising efficiency. It can pill when over-applied and rubbed, but what is left is no stickiness, no greasiness, no tackiness, and no oiliness.

It is not surprising that some of the slippery quality in it comes from seaweed; there is a hard to identify slipperiness about it that feels very natural. I think the viscosity is great as a clitoral or vaginal lube.

It is unlike the consistency of synthetic lube. Personally, I prefer natural lubrication, so this works great for me. It is much more like a thick version of natural vaginal lubrication, rather than a synthetic lube.

To sum it up:
It is thicker than Satin by Sliquid, which is thin to mimic your own vaginal lubrication.
It is thinner than anal lubes.
It is about the same thickness as most cheap water-based lubes, and much healthier for you!

Taste / Aroma

Unlike Satin by Sliquid, this lube has a natural extract from a flower called hibiscus in order to add a light scent. As compared with most drugstore lubes, the smell is very light and much more pleasant. Luckily, for those of you with sensitivity to smell, the smell dissipates quickly once in use and you will not smell it at all. Hibiscus is a floral, sweet scent.

Most users will find the smell pleasant. If you don't like the smell of flowers then keep an eye out for extract of hibiscus in the other ingredients and go with Satin by Sliquid instead.

The taste is very mildly soapy.

Performance

Comparing this lube to a silicone anal lube, Sliquid Oceanics is noticeably not very long-lasting. However, I think that it's a bit more long-lasting than Satin by Sliquid.

Reapplication will be necessary during some play sessions. It does reactivate with saliva or a bit of water. The tendency for those wonderful moisturizing ingredients to absorb into the skin is great for your skin and great for clean-up, but not perfect during play. Natural lubes just tend to require more during use. I find just two or three drops of synthetic lube are all I need, but this lube requires a bit more during use - about half a dime's worth. Throughout months of heavy use, I have barely used a tenth of my bottle, so rest assured, it will last you, and it is worth the money. I am personally VERY satisfied with its performance, all things considered.

The cleanup is unbelievably easy. I love that it mostly absorbs into my skin, and with such natural ingredients, I don't have to worry about absorbing parabens or other nasty chemicals. Skin after use is left soft, unsticky, and not at all greasy.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Feels natural
    • Reapply often

Packaging

Sliquid Oceanics comes packaged in a gorgeous, green jewel-toned bottle. Like the rest of the Sliquid line, the bottle itself is made of high-quality material, and not as prone to cracking or leaking as other brands.

The label is mostly white with designs in a sort of clay green color. The text is in a burgundy or maroon reddish-brown lettering.

The front reads: "Sliquid Oceanics. botanically infused. glycerine and paraben free. natural intimate lubricant with carrageenan, nori, and wakame."

The side reads: "Sliquid Oceanics. Our clean and simple water-based blend, infused with natural extracts of the sea. Offering women a healthier choice, this glycerine & paraben-free lubricant has been blended with certified organic botanical extracts that heal and support the body. The lotus is the symbol of female sexuality, passion, and love. It is natural, growing and unfolding... Just like you. Our icon rests in the center because at the heart of our company, we believe knowledge of sexual health & well-being will help women live more passionate lives. Love your body!"

I often have guests visit my room and idly pick up Sliquid Oceanics wondering what it is before they realize. Like all of Sliquid's lubricants, the label is mature and respectable, free of pornographic images, well-designed, and elegant. While it does say "natural intimate lubricant" and therefore is not 100% discreet, it is one of the most discreetly packaged lubes on the market.
    • Can be opened with one hand
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Would make a nice gift

Special Features

I cannot emphasize enough how strongly I approve of Sliquid using ingredients that are totally nontoxic, body-safe, hypo-allergenic, paraben-free, glycerin-free, petroleum-free, and natural. Almost all of the ingredients used are organic. That is not cheap. The ingredients that are certified organic are: aloe barbadensis, organic hibiscus, organic flax, organic alfalfa, organic green tea, organic sunflower seed, organic carrageenan, nori, and wakame. Only five ingredients are not certified organic, including the purified water, as it isn't possible to certify water as organic. Why would the products that we put inside of our bodies NOT be food-quality? You deserve a lube that won't poison you.

Personal comments

When I first got it, it didn't get much use; a few play sessions later, and I am hooked! I do tend to require a reapplication during a longer play session, but I love its performance.

Experience

Sliquid consistently manufactures my favorite lubes. I would happily pay a bit more knowing the unbelievable quality of their products. I mean, flax and sunflower seeds? No need to ever worry about what is seeping into your body with Sliquid.

If you're thinking, "Ew, seaweed," just consider how toxic your chemical lubes are. Suddenly, organic seaweed isn't gross at all. There is zero "sea" smell, just hibiscus.

I am sensitive to smells. Artificial, chemical smells, like flavored lubes, do not work for me. It is distracting during sex. When I first smelled Oceanics straight out of the bottle, I was upset at how strong the scent of hibiscus was. As soon as I put it in use, all of my fears vanished. The smell is not detectable (for me personally), when in use.

Combine that with a thicker product than my favorite lube, and all-natural ingredients, and I think I've found my new favorite lube to use with silicone toys!
