Sheer halter mini dress - chemise discontinued by DreamGirl - review by Breas

The Sheer Halter Mini Dress by DreamGirl caught my eye in the red colour. The piece is available in the colours red, black, and white. I ordered the red colour option, though all the colours are gorgeous. The dress is only available in one-size-fits-most. I usually wear a size XL, but sometimes can just squeeze myself into these. I figured for $14.99, it was worth a shot!

The piece is packaged in a rectangular cardboard box, covered by plastic. The front of the box states the company name, size, and colour. The front also has a photo of a model wearing the outfit. The back has the same information as the front, along with a back view of the model, the material composition, care instructions, and the company’s website.



Inside of the box, the outfit is wrapped around a piece of cardboard, and is in a plastic bag. The packaging is not good for storage at all, though there is no care tag in the outfit, so you may want to keep the box just for the instructions. If you decide to get rid of the packaging, it can be recycled.

When I pulled the piece out of the packaging, I was a bit worried at how small it looked. You can see how small it looks unstretched in the photo below. Thankfully, the outfit is made of 100% nylon and stretches like crazy. The back of the packaging says that the OSFM is made for those that fall in the weight category of 90-160lbs. I’m actually a bit more than 160, but managed to pull it off.



Typically I take measurements of lingerie unstretched, but in this case, I’m going to stretch the outfit as much as I can. In the measurements below, I’ve indicated which measurements are stretched and which are not. If you need any additional measurements, send me a message and I can get them for you.

Stockings
Length unstretched: 22 inches
Length stretched as much as I could: 56 inches
Lace at top of stocking length: 2 inches
Lace at top of stocking, stretched as much as I could: 15 inches wide

Garters
Length unstretched: 7 inches
Width: 1 ½ inches

Dress
Lace trim that runs along the bottom, the neck, and chest: 2 inches
Neckband unstretched: 14 inches
Length of dress (armpit to bottom of lace bottom) unstretched: 18 inches
Length of dress stretched as much as I could: 40 inches
Chest (armpit to armpit) stretched as much as I could: 24 inches
Bottom of dress stretched as much as I could: 28 inches

The entire outfit is one piece. The garters are sewn to the bottom of the dress, as well as to the top of the stockings. The “garters” are actually just long pieces of lace. You can see the garters in the photo below. There are 2 garters on each stocking; 1 in the front, and 1 in the back. The outfit does not come with a panty, but any thong, g-string, boy-short, etc will work fine. You could even wear the outfit commando if you prefer (though it is sheer).



The back of the neck does up with three metal snaps. The snaps are extremely secure when done up and you shouldn’t have any issues with them coming undone. In fact, they were a bit tough to undo when I was taking the piece off. I consider this a good thing though. Other than the snaps being a bit tough, the outfit is easy to get in and out of. Just step into the dress, and before adjusting the dress onto your body, slip your feet into the stockings. Once the stockings are where you want them, pull the dress up and snap close the closures behind the neck.



I’m approximately 5’6 in height, and this dress fit perfectly. The lace garter pieces did not sag, but they were not pulled too tightly either. I think that if you are a couple inches taller, or a couple inches shorter than me, you should be able to pull it off with no problem. The shorter you are, the harder of a time you’ll have with the lace garters sagging. It’s easier for someone taller to stretch the outfit to fit, since someone shorter cannot “unstretch” the outfit. When I was wearing the outfit, the dress part came down to my bum, revealing only the bottoms of my bum cheeks.

The outfit is sheer. The more you need to stretch the material, the more sheer it becomes. My partner really liked the outfit because while it is sheer and reveals everything, it still has a classy look to it.

The material feels very soft against the skin. Even the lace is soft. I didn’t have any problems with the material irritating my skin. I did notice though that when I had laid the outfit out to take photos of it, it picked up cat hair really easily. So I’d suggest storing the outfit somewhere where pets cannot get at (if you have any).

To care for the outfit, the box states that it should be hand washed separately in cold water and line dried. The outfit should also not be bleached.

Overall, I’m extremely happy with this outfit. I was a bit worried at first because I wasn’t sure if it would fit me, and I was also worried that the low price meant low quality. After trying this outfit on, and loving it as much as I do, I plan on getting the other two colours. The only thing that saddens me about this outfit is that it is not available in larger sizes so that others can enjoy the outfit as much as I do.

I still really like this outfit! The price is great, it fits nicely, and it's comfortable. I've actually thrown this in the wash, in a lingerie bag, with the machine on cold. It's still in excellent condition. I love it!
