Lycra gathered bra and thong - bra and gartered panty set discontinued by Coquette - review by Hannah Savage

I chose this cute lingerie set for my first assigned review because I loved the pink accents and the hint of a skirt. It arrived in a pink cellophane wrapper enclosed in a larger clear plastic bag. Immediately upon taking it out of the packaging I was shocked at the wonderful feel of the fabric. I took several seconds just feeling it before I realized that it was similar to bathing suit fabric, silky with a bit of stretch.

The majority of this number is compromised of Lycra and fine mesh. Lycra is in the same family as Spandex, so it is stretchy and durable. Mesh is a somewhat see-through fabric containing a lot of pinhead tiny holes (think very fine fishnet) with a bit of stretch. I'm still amazed at the overall quality--the stitching is well done, the fabric feels rich and soft, and all of the very cute bows and hems have finished edges.

The bra top has a back closure and is a demi-cup, meaning that it is cut much lower than most other bras. The cups are lined with a pink fabric covered in mesh, with the idea that when worn the pink will show through the mesh for a sexy-sheer effect. The underwires and straps are very comfortable, and the cup is finished with more silky Lycra. Never having worn this type of bra before, I found that the low cut was very much so, as it barely covered my nipples. There was not much padding at all in the bra, much to my dismay, so at a full A-cup I was left feeling more squished than sexy. (Please note that in Coquette's line there is no smaller size offered than a B cup.) Also, the pink underlining on the top didn't show through as much as I had hoped. It appeared far more black than pink, no matter how I stretched it around. However, the bow on the side? Adorable! I loved this girly touch that I didn't notice at first in the photos.

The bottom of the outfit is what truly captured my heart. Immediately after putting it on I felt a little more sultry. The bottoms are a black thong with a pink inner lining, and are exceptionally soft and comfortable. There is an accompanying bow on the hip of the skirt, which has pink stitching and touches of ribbon and lace. I loved how the frill of the skirt accentuated my curves and the smaller cut of the thong bottom. The only downside to this part of the outfit is that the panties are NOT removable from the skirt/garter, however, the garters are removable from the thong/skirt.

As suspected, this does NOT come with the thigh-high stockings in the picture. After rummaging around to find a pair, I attached some thigh-highs to the garters and I was concerned that the skirt would get pulled off from the tension. However, they worked together perfectly, and stayed on very well (until they were intentionally removed of course!). The garters are easily adjustable and have a lot of stretch to them.

When washed by hand in cold water and hung to dry, according to the care instructions on the tags, I didn't notice any bleeding of colors or change in size. Keep in mind that most lingerie items need special care when washing. If I were to put this in the laundry with my other clothes I would make sure to put it in a pillow case or one of those bra balls, to deter the most damage possible.

Despite the bra top not accentuating my 'goodies' as much as I had hoped, I would definitely wear this again. It is very comfortable and the quality of the product as a whole really surprised me for the price. This is my first item from Coquette and I am eager to see more of what they have to offer.

I threw this on when, at a moment's notice, my man said he was on his way over and was having a good day. I was waiting for the perfect time to wear it, and this appeared to be the time. Needless to say when he walked in the door I nearly had to close his mouth for him. If you want to wow him in a sweet, not-too-intense outfit, I'd definitely go for this.
