Raspberry Fields chemise - chemise discontinued by Coquette - review by roskat

Design:
If you are not a fan of floral designs this chemise might not be for you. The chemise has a very distinct old-school romantic look to it and the sex appeal it offers is more subtle. However, if you are looking for something that is feminine, flattering and not see-through at the same time, this might just be the right choice for you.



The chemise has a floral panel on the front and back side. The floral lace lies over a light nude colored fabric. That fabric is thick enough so that it will provide full coverage. I have not noticed that my nipples would show through it.



The lace and nude fabric are stretchy but not as stretchy as the thinner, raspberry colored microfiber fabric. In fact, the nude panels feel like they provide some light support at least to my tummy area. This might be due to the fact that the chemise fits snugly on my body. The effect is probably not be same if the chemise is slightly loose on you.

The raspberry colored microfiber fabric could not be more comfortable. Overall, the whole chemise is very comfortable to wear. The only minor issue I have is with the bikini style top part. This is due to my larger chest size (34F). The straps are made out the same stretchy microfiber fabric but they do cut into my neck a little bit. If you have a small to medium sized chest this most likely won't be an issue for you.



The straps are long enough to be sewn in the back for regular styled straps. I might do this in the future so that the top part won't put so much pressure on my neck. The cups do not offer much support for breasts.

The raspberry fabric is sewn-in scrunched on the front and the back side along the floral panel. This effect looks very nice while the garment is on and really helps to create curves even if you lack them. I feel like this piece would flatter most body types.



The garters on this piece are not detachable or adjustable. Now, this might be an issue for short girls since they do come pretty low on the thigh. But if you are comfortable with a needle and some thread, you could easily shorten the garters with couple of stitches by sewing them under the hem, on the back of the fabric. Or even remove the garters completely if you would prefer the chemise that way.
The garter clips are the regular type and worked fine with the stockings I have tried so far.


Material and Care:
The label on the the chemise states that the fabric is 90% Nylon and 10% Spandex (except for the trims). The chemise is recommended to be washed by hand and hanged to dry. The piece doesn't feel flimsy so I don't feel like you need to be overtly careful with the cleaning. The chemise is made in China.

Size and Fit:
I'm 5'4 tall and my dress size is usually between medium and large (or 12-14). I ordered this chemise in medium since I knew that the microfiber would be stretchy. If you are between sizes I would recommend going for the smaller size. The only question mark I had was with the cups. They definitely could be slightly larger for my bigger chest but otherwise medium fits me well.

Here are some measurements for the chemise in medium. They are taken while the garment was laying flat, not stretched.





Garter length: 4 inches
Front length (from under the cups to the hem): 19 1/2 inches
Back length (to the hem): 20 inches


The overall quality seems to be good except for the trim on one of the cups. It was cut off but I fixed it by sewing it in.



In a nutshell, I really like this piece. It is more demure than a lot of my other lingerie but perhaps that's why I was attracted to it in the first place. I would give this chemise four stars and I do feel it is worth the price.
