Beer maiden - costume discontinued by Coquette - review by SaMiKaY

I love Coquette products because they are always great quality without being hundreds of dollars. This beer maiden costume is no exception. I was excited to review this costume as I have always wanted a good maiden costume but was worried about how it would fit with my pregnant stomach. Needless to say, I won't have pictures in this review. =)

The costume has lots of different material types fake leather, spandex, cotton, and a velveteen material. According to the directions on the tag this costume is hand wash only. Because of the different material types and just because I prefer to be gentle with my lingerie, I recommend following this.

I ordered a 1X/2X and even at 6 months pregnant, it fit me well with a little room. I didn't think it would be that big seeing as I was a 3X in other Coquette lingerie at the time. That being said, I feel it runs a little big. Unless you wanted it to be a little baggy, I would consider ordering a size down.

When it came in, I was excited to try it on for my hubby because he loves seeing me dressed up in costumes. When I came out of the bathroom, he busted up laughing! Evidentally, I make a hilarious looking beer maiden. He said it didn't look like a true beer maiden costume but that it was a decent costume that kept things moderately modest if you wanted to wear it to a party.

For those of you mommas out there who might be nursing for Halloween, the top of this makes it really simple. My baby is due any day now, but I have "practiced" and because the top is elastic and cut lower it was really simple to unhook my nursing bra and pop my goods out.

I haven't worn it since trying it on the first time as I ballooned out quickly after that, but I have washed it (by hand of course) and laid it flat to dry. It's held up so far!

This is a very well made costume that has stood the test of many washings and an infant chewing/yanking on it. It's still worn when I want to give hubby a laugh and for "costume parties".
