The Creamy Onyx Halter Chemise by Escante arrived and my wife and I were both excited. We like the Escante brand, most of the time the pieces flatter my wife's form and this looked cute and she was excited to try it out. Once we tried it on we were both very disappointed with it and probably would have returned it if we had tried it on before the return period was up.

Packaging

The chemise arrives on a plastic hanger inside of clear plastic bag. Attached is small cardboard tag with the Escante name, the product name, a picture of the model and care instructions. Like most lingerie packaging I wouldn't recommend just presenting this packaging as a gift. I would discard the plastic bag and put the garment in a gift box or something similar. The hanger would be fine if you chose to hang your lingerie, but we discarded the hanger and the plastic since we store our lingerie in a separate lingerie drawer in my wife's dresser.

Material/Fit/Design

The chemise comes with two pieces, the chemise and a separate full-back panty. The chemise is made from 90% nylon and 10% elastane. This explains the give and stretch with the fabric. It is very pliable and can stretch to accommodate women of all sizes. The panties also have a cotton crotch in addition to the other materials, something my wife appreciated very much. Most of the garment is the creamy white color, with black lace around the bottom of the chemise and the sides where the chemise comes together. The garment is tied together by a black satiny feeling ribbon.

This is not your typical chemise, instead it is more apron-style, or like a wrap dress. Most aprons tie and close on the back of the garment, but this closes and ties around the front. The chemise comes in two sizes S/M and M/L. We ordered the M/L. The sizing for the Escante is below for this product.






There is a lot of leeway for the sizing on this garment as you can see from the size charts. My wife is 5'6, 38C cup size and wears a size 10 in dresses and jeans. She is 150 lbs and so would be at the top end of the sizing on the M/L. But once we tried this on it was huge on my wife. It had no shape, the stretch of the fabric made it look like it was falling off of her. There is no underwire support for the bust and my wife's breasts appeared to sag in the garment and the material drooped as well.

The chemise is very short, it hit just past my wife's buttocks on her thighs. Even though the material was very stretchy it was still incredibly short and bunched a bit near the bottom. The black lace that was attached to the bottom and the middle of the garment was okay, a tad scratchy, but not nearly as bad as other products we have tried in the past. The floral lace pattern was pretty, although I did notice some of the stitching was uneven and with repeated wear would probably become frayed or loose. The stitching on the rest of the garment was pretty consistent. The satin tie would not hold the material together and drooped as well. There was a small clasp, similar to a clasp on an adjustable bra strap, for holding the chemise closed, but it never actually did the job for us. It is a very revealing outfit even if it fit properly and I would not recommend it outside of the bedroom unless you're a bit of an exhibitionist.

The panties that came with it were different. There were very comfortable, with a full-back bikini style and my wife likes them a lot. They are a tad big for her, but still fit pretty well overall and are comfortable enough to wear separately and during the day. This was our favorite part of this outfit.

Care

It is recommended that you hand wash this item in cold water. With the materials that were used I don't see a problem with tossing this in the washing machine on a gentle cycle with cold water, especially if you put it in a laundry bag. I would allow this to air dry and not put it in the dryer as it could damage the material.

This was just a horrible fit for my wife. It draped off her body and no matter how tightly we tried to cinch it closed, it wouldn't stay closed and fell open. The materials felt comfortable, and we like the panties, they are now in my wife's normal panty rotation. But with this only coming in two sizes I can't recommend this because of how different the fit will be for people who try it on.
