Mesh and lace babydoll with g-string - babydoll and panties set by Coquette - review by Airen Wolf

I went through the phase that every woman goes through where they believe that black is the only good looking 'color' for overweight women. It is ridiculous and I am here to say that color makes you look slimmer and more approachable, not to mention friendly! It can change your whole outlook and make you feel special. Which is why I am pleased that lingerie companies are starting to use bright vibrant colors in their sexy wear.

Enter the Mesh and Lace Babydoll with G-string from Coquette. A beautiful vibrant purple and lovely black lace this babydoll offers a two hook bra closure back, and a flowing skirt that camouflages trouble spots beautifully. The babydoll is made of 82% Nylon and 18% spandex so it has both sheer silkiness and weight that keeps the skirt from riding up unattractively and flow straight over the belly and hips.
The babydoll has an underwire that, once again fits one of my breasts beautifully and the other one awkwardly. I have one breast that measures a solid D and the other measures DD so I know this will always be a problem until I can have a resizing surgery. Even though this is a recurrent problem with this particular babydoll it isn't a deal breaker. My breasts look amazing and the bra strap type adjustable closure will give larger busted ladies some room to play. Like most of the other underwire containing lingerie I have ordered from Coquette this fits a bit large on me and I probably should be wearing the XL rather than the 1X-2X size. If you are really close to the lower end of the size I would recommend taking the smaller size for a better bra fit.


This babydoll has lovely floral patterned black lace on the entire upper portion of the babydoll that conceals your nipples in a really sexy peek-a-boo manner. This lace is very sturdy machine knitted lace that stands up to rough play and ragged fingernails. There is a lovely little purple bow sewn between the breasts on the upper portion of the underwire. It is understated and not horribly noticeable for those who simply hate feminine frippery.
A strip of the same floral lace is firmly sewn onto the front of the g-string. Speaking of the g-string, it is the same fabric and color as the body of the babydoll but doesn't have a cotton lining so it's not meant for all day wear. As has been pointed out by other reviewers the g-string is very large. This is great for ladies with large hips but is just awkward for ladies like myself who have a baby belly roll. it simply isn't all that comfortable. Usually I pair this babydoll with a pair of black or purple boyshorts.
The skirt of the babydoll is roughly 16 inches in length and has a rolled and finished ruffled edge that hangs evenly over my hips. The empire waistline is flattering to my figure and serves to elongate my torso providing visual balancing to my short waisted body.
The seams are turned and finished, with even stitching. There are no hanging strings or knots to irritate the skin or pull seams apart. The same is true about the g-string. The lace is soft and gets even softer after washing. It was mildly irritating before I washed it but this is another babydoll that I feel comfortable enough in to sleep the whole night. Sigel loves stroking my belly or butt through the silky material while we cuddle under the blankets.
The stitching on the ends of the bra straps is double reinforced, which is important for thinner straps that have less area to distribute the weight of larger breasts. The bra clasp lays flat against my back without bunching or riding up but the material is too soft and silky to provide much in the way of support. One really nice feature of this babydoll bra strap is that it offers three sets of eyelets for the hooks so that the wearer can have it as loose of tight as they desire. It also means you can be just a bit larger than the suggested sizing and still fit. ladies larger than a DD size should be able to wear this babydoll fairly comfortably.

Coquette recommends hand washing this set in cool water with a mild detergent. Line dry out of direct sunlight to protect the color. This is so well made and sturdy I feel that a lingerie bag and a gentle cycle followed by air dry setting in the dryer would work just as well.

I appologize for the lack of pictures in this review but my digital camera is on the fritz and none of the pictures I took with my computer camera turned out properly. Since I am still struggling with body image issues I wanted to get this review out there and finished before I hit another low period. Perhaps the more lingerie reviews I do the more comfortable I will become actually DOING lingerie reviews, and wearing lingerie. This idea drives me right now and my guys are very pleased to be part of this exploration.

Seriously ladies, the babydoll is probably the most feminine and forgiving type of lingerie you can buy. it will make you feel amazing while downplaying some of the more troublesome areas of the body. I urge any plus sized lady still longing for the day when they can surprise their partner(s) with some sexy nighties to take the plunge and order. It will truly be a life changing event if you have the courage.

I was a bit disappointed that this didn't come with a neat hanger but I had a hanger left over from another Coquette piece that was too big. It would have been nice but I suppose that really isn't a selling point of lingerie! The fact that it looks amazing on plus sized ladies is MUCH more important.

I would recommend not pulling on the mesh skirt with force because it can tear though it won't snag and run like cheaper made products can and do. Still one good tug and this can come apart st the waistline seam.

This baby doll has softened up slightly with washing but it still looks amazing and the seams are still firmly sewn. I was worried with some of the other reviews that it could break down over time but it is still one of my favorite outfits.
