Intro

To begin with, I love this chemise. Absolutely! It's comfortable, it fits me great and is very different from all other articles in my lingerie collection. The latter means it doesn't scream sexy, but is still very attractive. Also, it once again proves that things by Coquette work best for me. Seriously, almost all my favorite pieces are made by them.

What I like about it the most? Its versatility. I was looking for something comfortable yet beautiful to sleep in and this Polka dot chemise serves the purpose! It is not too short like some other chemises (I'm 5'6" high) and is anything but itchy. At the same time, it is almost see-through, elegant and adorned with lovely details. Thus I can wear it as pajamas or I can dress it up with heels to turn it into sexy lingerie.

Material and care

Not a single detail causes any discomfort whatsoever. This chemise is 82% nylon and 18% spandex (exclusive of trim). The main material is extremely soft and stretchy black see-through mesh. Small polka dots (like 6 millimeters in diameter) "stand out" on the material and have a nice velvety flocked feeling. Pink lace straps are also very soft and comfortable. Moreover, the fabric is very breathable, even though it's all synthetics.

The chemise doesn't seem to be fragile, but you should be careful while washing it if you don't want to cause any damage. It is lingerie, after all, and it's delicate. I strongly recommend to wash it by hand in warm sudsy water and hang to dry. You shouldn't iron it and you don't have to: luckily, the material doesn't crumple much.

Design and construction

The design is simple. Polka dot chemise by Coquette is made in form of a mini-dress with a wavy bottom edge, fitted silhouette and contrast light-pink lace straps. The straps are scalloped on one side and trimmed with matching pink ribbon on the other. On the back, they are sewn right to the main mesh part of the chemise, but in front the lace goes down to the underbust, which is accented by the same pink ribbon. Please, mind that the straps are neither adjustable nor stretchy and measure 19.5 inches from the place where the bust portion ends. They are wide enough, though, not to cut into your body (around 2 inches). The chemise itself is approximately 22 inches long and 15 inches across when laid flat.

The top is gathered and has a small bow in the middle. The ends of bow are not secured and - I'm afraid - can start unraveling one day. Find out how to secure ribbon ends here.

Sizing and fit

Polka dot chemise by Coquette comes in two sizes: one size fits most (OS) and plus size. I got one size fits most. According to the size chart, OS requires 4-14 dress size, B cup, 34-40" bust, 26-32" waist and 36-42" hips. I'm quite slim, with small 32" bust and relatively large 36" hips. My waist measures 26" and I usually wear 4-6 (S) size clothes. This chemise fits me nicely and I'm especially glad that it hugs both breasts and hips just like it should. It is not tight on me at all and even somewhat loose, but still it is on a smaller side of the given range.

The length is good (again, I'm 5'6"), but on someone higher than 5'9" it will look more like a top, so it's not very long either. Bust support is definitely good enough for me, but if you have bigger breasts (more than C cups), this chemise won't be the best choice. With all that in mind, my re-done size chart would be:
- 4-10 size;
- 32-38" bust;
- A-C cup (probably, even A-B);
- 24-30" waist;
- 34-40" hips;
- up to 5'9" height.
Experience
Conclusion

The sizing of this chemise is pretty accurate, however, it most probably will fit the smaller part of the scale better. So if you are at the bigger end, it might be better to check out a plus size version. Overall, it is a great versatile quality piece of lingerie which I can't stop admiring. I feel elegant and sexy in it. All that for 20 bucks? Definitely 5 stars!
