Starburst - corset discontinued by Coquette - review by edeneve

I ordered Starburst Corset offered by Coquette not knowing what to expect since this was my first Coquette corset. I've read so many reviews about some of the unique features about Coquette corsets that aren't offered by other lingerie companies. I was hoping I would be just as pleased.

I received the Corset enclosed in a clear plastic bag. And, it came with a beautiful padded hanger covered with black satin. One of the special features I was hoping for. The shoulder straps and garters were each neatly placed in their own separate bag attached to the Corset. A tag showing the front and back of a model wearing the Corset was attached as well.

The Corset is a beautiful black piece that comes with two adjustable shoulder straps and four garters. They both have a firm supportive stretch. Two of the garters attach to the front and two attach to the back of the corset.

There are 10 pieces of boning placed throughout the piece giving shaping and support to the Corset. Four pieces of boning are vertically placed on the front. Two of the pieces of bone are sewn on both sides of the center hook and eye closures spaced 3" away from the center. The other two pieces of bone are placed 3" apart from the two closer to the center of the Corset. And there is a short piece of boning placed over the nipples that move upward at an angle to the top edge of the neckline. The four boning pieces on the back of the Corset are placed, evenly spaced, on either side of the lace up sections.

Black mesh covers the whole Corset. There are sparkly starbursts of varying sizes randomly placed on the mesh that covers the front of the Corset. The mesh on the front lies over an opaque light to medium gray fabric. The mesh on the back of the Corset covers an opaque black fabric that's stronger than the underlying front fabric. The Corset has a row of 15 hook and eye closures down the front. A black satiny piece lies lengthwise underneath the closures providing coverage for any skin that might otherwise peek out. The back of the Corset has two sets of 2" wide areas with vertical loops from top to bottom with light gray ribbons laced through the loops.

Starburst Corset is made of 80% nylon and 20% spandex. The spandex provides the right amount of stretch that allows for a good fit. It leaves the Corset comfortable to move with you without binding anywhere. Caring for the corset requires the same care as for all fine lingerie. Hand wash only in cold water with a gentle soap. Then hang to dry.

The Corset measures 27" from side to side. The top to bottom measurement of the back is 12". And the measurement of the front from the very top edge to the bottom is 17 1/2". Below is a copy of the Coquette size chart:

Starburst Corset is well made. All seams are made with a separate piece of fabric sewn to all the outer edges. All boning is double stitched. The fabric used to make the Corset does not loosely stretch which could pull the Corset out of shape if it did. The lace up sections on the back of the Corset can be tightened with the laces if you want a snugger fit. I ordered the large size which fits my body measurements perfectly.

I feel very comfortable with the modest cleavage dip between my breasts. I don't need to wear my standby mesh cover up since the corset is not too revealing. The boning on the front that moves up and over the breasts gives my breasts great support. When sitting, there is no boning poking me anywhere. The waistline fits well. And the Corset hip section fits well also. I was so pleased when I looked at my self in the mirror after putting Starburst Corset on which I'd paired with a short black skirt, sexy even.
