Tip Top This is Not

The Jesse Corset broke my heart! The cinching won me over but the lack of support of the bust is a failure for any cup size. I had to wear a bra with this to get the intense cleavage I wanted. The quality is poor also. I noticed wear after only two times using Jesse.

extremely useful review
I fell in love with the Jesse corset from the start. It's gorgeous and the red an black color contrast is very eye catching. The shape and design look somewhat vintage but very classy and sexy at the same time. it had the cinching lace up back that I wanted and plunging neck line. Unfortunately, I was left with a love hate relationship with Jesse. The top offers no support for ANY size chest, the lacing doesn't come up high enough to hold it against the body. The cups literally can flop over or be pulled down will no difficulty. It also started breaking after the second wearing. Not my idea of a lovely corset. Jesse let me down!

*Contents/overview:

This satin corset from Leg Avenue has a silhouette shape, deep V-neck line, lace up cinch backing, and plastic boning. It has a bit of breast padding, but not much and no underwire. It does not have garters or places to attach them. it is best for light play or light wear. I cannot recommend it for outside wear unless it is modified.

*Material:

This corset has satin, velvet, and mesh. It is made of 80% Nylon and 20% Spandex excluding the trim. The boning is made of plastic pieces. The tie in the back is a Nylon cord. It was all very comfortable except the mesh trim which is abrasive and can get uncomfortable and itchy under the arms and across the back. The satin does stretch a bit, but won't withstand a lot of abuse.

*Design/craftsmanship:-not the greatest!

The Jesse corset is boned with eleven plastic pieces. Some are only half piece however. These appear on the sides of the corset to allow for a more silhouette shape. I love the hourglass look! The back laces up and has a very large amount of string. When the corset is completely tightened, there is literally feet of string left hanging. There are two strings that control the tightening. They pull from the middle (not the bottom or top). This makes it easy to do yourself and you don't need to do as much adjustment. One string controls the top half of the corset and the other controls the bottom half. The cords are nylon and I have noticed that they have already started to fray!

The majority of the corset is the black satin material. Some of which, the brassier portion, and the middle panel are red satin and covered in a cute mesh with velvet polka dots. God I love the polka. The middle panel has velvet black line running down it which look like boning but actually aren't-there is only one in the very center. Separating the top of the corset from the bottom in another band of satin that has a bow in the middle. This actually helps the sides of the corset cinch in around your band line.

The bust has the majority of the design flaws. It is too large, has too deep of a V-line, no underwire, and barely any padding. It would help if the lacing came up higher in the back to pull the bust in, but it doesn't. It offered ZERO support for me and honestly, it won't be tight on a smaller chest either. The cups are literally floppy. Like a blow of wind could flip them down. I was so dissapointed with this because my second favorite part of a corset (second to the cinching) in the sexy cleavage.

I should also mention that this DOES cinch. A lot. It does it nicely and comfortably, but the quality does not hold up. I already had a piece of plastic boning break a seem and come through!

*Cleaning/care/storage:

You can't put this corset through any type of washing or drying machine. I think it would change the shape of the corset because of shrinking. Only hand wash or spot clean with warm water and then drip dry or lie it flat. It doesn't come in any type of package and there are no hang strings so fold and place in a drawer for storage.
Experience
*Sizing:

Leg Avenue runs small and I've never gotten a corset from them so I decided to go with the large which is supposed to fit the following: dress size 12-14, cup C, band 36-38", waist 27-29", and hips 38-40".

Because of the huge amount of string, it can fit a larger range of upper sizes. I could cinch it so that the fabric touched in the back but it was less comfortable. The best fit for me was when there was about an inch of skin showing in the back. But this means that the corset fits slightly smaller or a lot larger than the size chart. It cuts right above the hips so they need to be worried about less, but were accurate to the chart.

The dilemma comes with the bust. Yes...I have large breasts ~36 D. BUT, I don't think that even with a smaller bust this corset will work in the chest. There is too much space and not enough cinching to the body in this area. You'd basically have to stuff like in jr. high. So... I'd say that a size C chest is best to make this work, or fake boobs of course. But for the rest of us...there are a few things you can do to make this work for you. But first the re-sized chart.

Re-done sizing chart:

Dress size: 10-16
Cup: C of fake boobs
Band 34-40" (add a few inches to the chart)
Waist: 27-33"
Hips: 38-40"

So for the other sizes, you can add a few inches to the top of the size range and an inch or two to the bottom half for everything but the hips.

So what can you do? Well...you can wear a wife beater underneath for an interesting look that will keep the girls contained. You could also use bra tape to keep the cups flat on your skin. Or you can do what I did and just wore a bra underneath.

Even with a bra, there is space! Try using a tank if you want to wear this out or use a push up bra like I am wearing in the thumbnail pictures below. Cleavage all thanks to Victoria.

*Conclusion:

I'm giving this corset 3 stars because while it is a good cinching corset and took inches off my waist, it is low quality and the bust is just horrible. The boning has already poked through after two wears and the nylon ties are fraying. I love how it makes my waist look, but it just wasn't everything I was looking for. I guess I need some fake boobs, bra tape, and a sewing kit.
Follow-up commentary
Jesse continues to break my heart. I can't find a way to make this work better for me. I've had to repair several broken seams since the review and I wish I had returned it right after the initial fitting (before it broke a bit). I love corsets too much to let this defer me from buying more though! If you are considering buying this, I hope you take the time to read my review before making your final decision.
