Beware the Seam!

The First Time G-spot Tulip is definitely a good beginner's choice, especially for those who don't want to spend a lot on a toy. However, if you're looking for something that'll last for a long time, or plan on sharing with a partner, I'd pass on this one. It does stimulate the g-spot very well, but water leaks into the battery compartment through the seam, making it hard to clean and not actually waterproof.

Use

The First Time G-spot Tulip is, as its name implies, designed as a G-spot stimulator. The vibrations are pretty average in intensity and very buzzy. I'm not a big fan of buzzy vibes, so while it did feel good when used internally, I was disappointed when I tried to use it on my clit. It'll work for beginners and those who are more sensitive, though. And it's not the vibration but the curved tip that really stimulates the g-spot, anyway. It feels pretty amazing even with the vibrations off.

Although this toy is listed as waterproof, it actually isn't, so don't use this in the shower and definitely not in the tub! It's best suited for use in a drier environment, like a bed. Though you might want to bring a towel or two because you may squirt! You can use this by yourself or with a partner. Sharing it with your partner, however, is probably not a good idea, since it's slightly porous and can't be sterilized.

Material / Texture

The Tulip is made out of PU-coated plastic, giving it a velvety feel. It's somewhat porous, so sharing this toy isn't recommended for non-fluid-bonded partners, and this makes it unsuitable for anal play. There is a very faint, sweet smell to it, but unless you're holding it up to your nose, you shouldn't be able to smell it.

The plastic is very hard and rigid, so the vibe has no give whatsoever. It also has no texture or bumps of any kind, since the seam on the side goes inward instead of sticking out.

Design / Shape / Size

Now, here is where this toy excels: the shape. The curve hits the spot just right, and the bulbous tip feels awesome! I cannot get enough of it. However, this toy might not work with everyone's anatomy, so please be aware of that if you're thinking about buying it.

The Tulip is 8 inches long, with 6.75 inches insertable length. The diameter of the shaft is 0.75 inches, while the tip is 1.25 inches in diameter. This toy is not for those who need a lot of girth, but it should be able to please most people length-wise.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Tulip has a dial base for controlling the vibrations, so once you've put in two AA batteries and screwed the cap back on, all you've got to do is turn the dial on the bottom, and you're good to go!

The vibrations are located in the tip of the Tulip, though they do travel down the shaft a bit. As I mentioned before, it's very buzzy, so if you prefer rumbly vibes, you might want to pass on this. I'd say it's about a 3.5 on the vroom scale, and a 4 on the bee scale. When being used internally, it's more like 3 bees, but it's still not ideal for those living with family or roommates. But if you have a big house or play loud music while you use it, you could make it work.

Before buying this, I read in one review that water got into the battery compartment through the seam. But since that review was the only one I found that mentioned the problem, I figured they had just gotten a faulty toy. As it turns out, mine has the exact same problem. There is a waterproofing ring around the cap of the battery compartment, but it's kind of pointless when that's not where the leak is.

Care and Maintenance

Storing this toy is easy! Just put it in your drawer/toy box/what have you, and you're done.

Now we get to the tricky part: cleaning. I usually use good ol' soap and water when cleaning my toys. You can use a toy cleaner with this as well, and if you have one, I recommend using that instead. It's very difficult to clean it in the sink without water and soap suds finding a way inside it.

And if you're planning on sharing this toy, be aware that it's kind of impossible to clean out the seam properly, even without the leakage problem.

Packaging

The Tulip came in a clear, plastic, clamshell package, with a slip of paper inside with the name of the product and a picture of a heavily made-up blonde woman on it. It didn't really have much information, but just stated that it was multi-speed, easy to use, and claimed that it can be used in water. You can use the package for storage, since it's not too big or bulky.

Personal comments

It's been almost 50 days since I purchased this toy, and it's already got a little rust spot in the battery compartment from water getting in while I washed it. I'm going to try to clean it off with a wet wipe or paper towel from now on, but I am a bit of a squirter, so I imagine that could leak into the battery compartment as well.

rust spot

If it'd been more expensive, I would've given it two stars, but considering the price, I think it's a good deal. I'm still a bit miffed about the whole waterproof thing, though, because I probably wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't advertised as being waterproof.

I'd recommend this toy most to beginners who want a cheap, easy-to-use toy with which to test the waters, although I think it'd be good for anyone who doesn't mind its shortcomings.
