Rosebud - g-spot rabbit vibrator discontinued by Vibratex - review by ToyGeek

The Rosebud is intended for g-spot and clitoral stimulation, so female-bodied folks will probably find the most use for it, and in my opinion it's most useful in a solo situation. It's ideal for women with a not particularly deep g-spot, as it's not a very large toy.

The g-spot is treated to a firm grinding by way of the strong rotating shaft, while the clitoral stimulation is light and fluttery. Noise will be a factor, so this is probably not the best toy for dorm life, although with music playing it cannot be heard through a closed door. It's not waterproof.

The Rosebud features the softest silicone I've ever handled. The legends of fabled Japanese silicone are true! When I first took this toy out of the package, I couldn't stop playing with the soft flexible wings of the little critter on the vibrator portion of the toy. I have several very nice silicone toys, but none of them feel quite like this one.

Most of the toy features a smooth, silky finish, while the inside of the clitoral stimulator is gently ribbed for a slight added sensation.

Silicone is non-porous, odor-free, and body safe.

Remember to keep it away from silicone lubes, and toys made of silicone composites. The chemicals which bond with the silicone in composites will want to bond with the silicone in your pure silicone toys as well, so they should always be stored in separator bags. Similarly, the chemicals that keep your silicone lube in liquid form will melt the silicone in a silicone toy, leaving it permanently and tragically tacky. So please, no silicone lube with this beautiful toy.

Before I even ordered the Rosebud, I knew the shape and size would fit my desires perfectly. Eden has a wonderful view-actual-size feature, and by clicking it, you can hold your existing toys up to your potential new toys for comparison. In the case of the Rosebud, the shaft length and clitoral stimulator placement line up perfectly with the Lelo Ina. So if one of these toys reaches your g-spot, the other should as well. (The clitoral stimulators also land in the same spot, but while the Ina presses firmly, the Rosebud flutters gently, and where Ina provides a deep vibration, Rosebud grinds firmly with its rotating shaft -- these two toys are alike in size only, and not in function.)

The modest size of the Rosebud, combined with the silky material, make it a good non-threatening choice for those new to toy use, while the power of the rotating shaft should please anyone with a compatibly located g-spot. Those folks with deeper g-spots will probably prefer another toy.

As for hiding this one, it's not realistic or tacky looking, but it would be pretty hard to mistake it for anything other than a vibrator, so if privacy is an issue, you'll need a locking case. The sliders are very easy to bump accidentally, so store it sans batteries to avoid embarrassing incidents. It is small enough to fit in a cosmetics bag.

The Rosebud's main function is the rotating shaft, and it performs fabulously in that regard. It's quite strong, and my attempts to make it seize up were satisfactorily thwarted. Also, as I knew from the view-actual-size feature on Eden, it fit my body perfectly. Regardless of anything else, this one's a keeper for me.

The vibrations aren't super-strong, but I found them quite sufficient when I tried them. I did not notice a significant power drain in either function when both were run together. The vibrator motor is located in the stimulator portion itself, and the vibrations are delivered by the super-soft wings and antennae of the little insect creature. While the vibrations were not as deep as my favorite clit vibes (the JimmyJane Little Steel and the Lelo Ina), they also weren't buzzy or uncomfortably sharp, like some of the cheaper toys I've tried.

The noise level on the Rosebud is slightly outside my personal comfort zone, as it could be heard through a closed door when everything else in the house was silent. However, when I turned the stereo on to a relatively low volume, it was enough to mask the toy. It doesn't sound like the vacuum cleaner and the clothes dryer settling their differences, like some toys I could mention.

As for the controls, they're pretty easy to bump accidentally, as they're the sliding variety. I didn't find that particularly bothersome in use, but it definitely means I'll be storing this toy without batteries. Then again, you're supposed to do that anyway.

Silicone is easy to clean with mild soap, hot water, and toy cleaner. Since this toy is not waterproof, take care to wrap the control end in a towel before taking it to the sink, and wash only the silicone portion with water. It cannot be boiled, because it cannot be submerged in water, but the business end can be wiped down with a bleach solution.

Never use silicone lube with silicone toys. The chemicals that keep your silicone lube in liquid form will melt the silicone in a silicone toy, leaving it permanently and tragically tacky. So please, no silicone lube with this beautiful toy. You'll also want to store it away from toys made of silicone composites. If pure silicone rests against a silicone composite for any length of time, the chemicals in the silicone composite will attempt to make friends. This is bad. I recommend separator bags of some kind for silicone toys -- it helps keep the lint off anyway.

It's also advisable to avoid squashing this toy, since it has moving parts, and taking the batteries out between uses is recommended.

The clear plastic packaging was useless but inoffensive. It flattened out nicely and slid into another object in the recycling bin without too much fuss, but if anyone looked, they could tell what arrived in it.

The packaging would, in my opinion, neither add to nor detract from the appeal of the product in a gift giving situation, so long as the parties involved were alone at the time, or at least in an appropriate setting. Sticking it under the Christmas tree at a large family gathering would probably end badly.
