Form.. Function.. Fun.. and an Ouch!

When you are investing this much money in a sex toy, you would expect it to be perfect. The Jopen VR10 falls just short of amazing due to some awkward ridges that made it uncomfortable to use at times. However, with a little practice and experimentation with the toys other outstanding features, that flaw can be overlooked.

extremely useful review
Due to the hefty price-tag, you really have to desire the Jopen VR10, BADLY, as did I. Its intended for simultaneous clitoral and g-spot stimulation. Beware not to thrust too eagerly though, as the ridges hinder a smooth entry. If you do use it in a couple's situation, it may just make your partner jealous, so you might want to think about using this one when you have some privacy.

MATERIAL
The entire toy, with the exception of the rounded control panel and recharging contact, is entirely encased in deep purple velvety-feeling and body-friendly silicone. As expected, there's a bit of drag, but the surface isn't sticky enough to be a total lint-magnet, although it did pick up a few hairs. I noted no smell or taste.

SIZE & DESIGN
When initially comparing all the Jopen dual-action vibrators, I thought the VR10 would be too large, so instead I purchased the VR7 based on its close resemblance to my all-time favorite - and not so safe - jelly toy. I should have picked up the VR10 to begin with, not so much for the additional length (9.5 inches long, 5.75 inches insertable) but for its pleasing girth (5.5 inches circumference, 1.5 inches diameter), which is enough to feel full without feeling overstuffed.

The waterproof design is simple, with clean lines, save for a very thin visible seam which runs the entire front and back length of the toy (including up and over the clitoral stimulator).

Starting at the bottom of the toy is a spherical, ball-shaped handle, with the front (and only visible) plastic portion containing the control buttons and the silver re-charging contact. A bit above that sits the clitoral stimulator (approximately 3.75 inches tall) in the shape of a faceless bunny with two tickling ears. The stimulator's base is firmly attached to the main shaft, but still allows for some manipulation, which I liked, because it stayed on target. Within the bunny is am impressive bullet motor, which I like to refer to as "anesthesia" to counteract the discomfort of the next feature, the ridges. The latter consist of three, 1-inch long stacked ridges located mid-shaft. The centers of these are more pronounced that the outer edges. Whether they are there to provide extra stimulation to the g-spot or to act more as a type of "jersey barrier" to avoid deep penetration, it can't be denied that they are noticeably present and may irritate delicate tissues if thrusted forcefully, so go easy on your body. Starting just where the ridges begin, the center of the shaft becomes softer all the way up to the slightly curved tip.

FUNCTIONS
The toy has two features. The first is a very gentle and shallow, single-direction rotating action that is activated via the top-most button. The bottom button turns on/off the clitoral stimulator (activated with lower button). You can use either function together or separately. To turn up the speeds, you must hold down each button, but to turn them off, just "tap" once. Red LED lights increase incrementally to indicate the levels. If you are to travel, there is a lock option which is easy to activate by pressing both buttons together and holding them down until both sides of the LED lights are solid.

A full 4 hour charge is required, during which the LED lights will flash, then stop. To charge, simply sit the toy upright in the lovely purple cradle/stand. It's nice to have this "grab and go" feature, but unless you live alone, most people may not want to leave their toy displayed no matter how attractive the stand is.

The toy was most quiet when only using the clitoral feature and became noisier with the whirring sound of the rotations. However, in comparison to other counterparts, it's still on the quiet side.

PACKAGING & CARE
The VR10 comes packaged in simple long white box which is appropriate for gift-giving and gives no indication of what is inside. This can be recycled or saved to store the toy in. There's a booklet which describes the entire line of Jopen toys, a vellum bookmark pointing out the features of the toy, and a black storage pouch. Please read all the safety reminders since it does charge via electrical outlet! By visiting the official website www.Jopen.com, owners can register the product and find out more about the warranties available.

Cleaning the toy is a breeze! Nothing more is needed than warm water and anti-bacterial soap or a toy cleaner. Because it's non-porous and smooth, there's no danger of sprouting bacteria, but do pay a little extra attention to cleaning between the ridges. Only use a water-based lube with it and keep it away from heat and light.
Experience
As far as techniques, like I said, the ridges make it uncomfortable to thrust, but if you are a "squeezer" like me it may work out for you. I had some incredible orgasms by just keeping my legs together, turning the clitoral stimulator on high, squeezing my pelvic muscles around the thick shaft, and pulsing the toy ever so lightly, yet still firmly, against my clit.

I can't speak for how well it performs in the bath or shower, although I can't see why it wouldn't work in either since there are no openings. Personally, I wouldn't leave any waterproof toy fully submersed underwater for a long time anyhow.

I really hope Cal Exotics re-considers the placement of those ridges though. I was tempted to take off up to 2-stars from my overall rating just for that, but I still gave it 4-stars because it's really a quality piece, which simply has an inconvenience that may not bother someone else.
Follow-up commentary
You would think that after I spent as much money as I did on this toy that it would be my go-to toy. Nope. It's still a favorite, but by the time I remember it needs to be charged, it's too late, so I just switch to a battery operated one to get me off. It's a bit too firm for me overall, but the intensity is what really makes it worthwhile.
