Great but not a Miracle

It's beautifully made, fantastically designed, and a very high quality toy. But with all the hype and glowing reviews (and for how taken I was with the idea of two motors), I expected my perfect vibe. Well, it's good, but it wasn't an effortless orgasm or anything and alas, it won't be the last vibrator I buy.

Use

This toy gets full points in quality, class, and being just beautiful. The curved shape, intended to provide good penetration and g-spot stimulation, didn't really find my G. For others, I'm sure it could, but I'm still on the search. Clitorally, all the modes and intensities are fabulous; but (being a true clit-o-steel) wasn't enough for an effortless, "0-60 in less than five minutes" kind of orgasm. It did provide that "work for it and you will be rewarded" kind of orgasm though.

Material / Texture

This was my first experience with silicone, and it is 100% medical grade, super safe and super amazing. No nasty melted chemicals smell, no greasy chemical taste. It's silky and smooth with just enough frictional drag to feel fantastic. I almost want to cuddle it.

With two motors, the material doesn't really need to carry the vibrations throughout the toy; but the silicone does it, and Elise does vibrate fully. That said the handle, where the control dial and power plug are located, is made of quality durable plastic and effectively keeps your hand from absorbing all of the power.

Design / Shape / Size

The Elise is nicely designed; the control dial is in a good place and raised so that lubed up fingers can still control it, the material is very high quality, and it's large enough to be filling without being uncomfortable. The wide silver band around what I consider to be the Elise's waist is an aesthetically pleasing touch. The only fault I could really find was a small, slightly raised seam running along the sides of the toy, but even that wasn't noticeable during penetration.

Functions / Performance / Controls

This is the first vibe that I've owned with various vibration modes, so let me start by saying: pulsation is amazing. And another important note, the Elise (actually all of the LELO vibes) are rechargeable. That's right, no batteries. It's an amazing thing, you plug the charger into the wall outlet, and the little metal plug into the base of the toy (much like a cell phone, in fact). Three hours later you've got enough charge to last you four hours of playtime.

Now, the control dial is located in the center of the plastic region. The LED light ring around it blinks when charging, remains lit when plugged in and fully charged, and lights up every time you press it. Also a nice feature, when you turn it on/off, you hold the center of the dial down for a few seconds, which locks the toy (nobody wants to hear a buzzing coming from the overhead compartment on a bumpy bus ride or flight).

Left/right controls intensity (which can be altered at any time), and the up/down scrolls through the settings (although, while scrolling through them, once you get to the "top" of the list, per se, you have to scroll back "down" through the settings. Of course, you can turn it off at any time so that's not really a big deal).

1. steady buzz from the top motor
2. steady buzz from the bottom motor
3. fast alternation between the two
4. slower, more punchy alternation between the two (favorite)
5. constant buzz from both motors

Be noted, however, that the lower intensities have an annoying high pitch whine until you crank it up (like any of us need an excuse, hah), and holding down either of the two intensity controlling buttons (left or right) will quickly zoom to the most extreme of that intensity; be it the highest or the lowest.

Care and Maintenance

The Elise is pretty low maintenance.

Even though there is a little rubber plug, be very careful not to get anything near the little power plug situated at the base of the toy. I'd suggest using a good toy cleaner (I use the Afterglow wipes), or if you're sharing, sterilize it with a 10% bleach solution (rinsed off with a damp cloth).

Because the toy is made of silicone, stay away from silicone lube, and opt for a good water based lubricant (unless you're into that melted/sticky toy look).

Personally I keep my Elise in the silk drawstring bag, and tucked inside the thick black case it came in, with the warranty and instructions booklet; because the box was just too cool to throw away. Said info booklet suggests keeping the Elise away from extreme heat, direct sunlight, and dust (it does pick up a very minimal amount of dust/pet fuzz).

Packaging

The packaging for the Elise (and the LELO brand in general) creates such an excellent first impression, that you just have to open it slowly and savor the classy lettering and material.

The box lists various features of the toy: the product is made of medical-grade silicone (except for the plastic end) and is phthalate- free, provides 4 hours of play for every three hours of charge time, and has five stimulation modes. It comes with a user manual (in several languages), a satin pouch, a charger, and a one year warranty.

Inside the packaging, there is a beautiful solid case that could be perfect for storage. Inside is a thick plastic tray where the Elise is nestled, and the rest of the merchandise is situated underneath that tray. The large, double lined satin pouch is an especially nice feature, and is black on the outside and white on the inside. (The drawstring actually stays closed when you close it).
Follow-up commentary
While the LELO Elise really is a high quality, luxury toy, it's a little too cumbersome for those who operate at a high discretion level. It isn't a "big" toy, but big enough that it can't be quickly stashed under the pillow and left there. (which is what I do with toys I know I'll be using again soon, and where I keep my LELO Nea)

Besides the size, I've found that my clit responds better to a higher frequency vibration (like what the Nea offers) than the deep thrum that the Elise provides. Because it isn't really a good under-the-pillow toy, and the vibration wasn't quite a high enough frequency, it didn't work out for me as a #1, go-to vibe. Despite this, LELO makes great toys, and the quality is definitely there. If you're into deeper vibrations, and don't require a serious amount of discretion, you could really love Elise.
