Teardrop - bullet discontinued by Doc Johnson - review by ladykay

This is a very powerful bullet vibe made for external stimulation, though it can be used internally as well. It can be used alone or with a partner-- my girlfriend and I had a lot of fun letting one person use the bullet itself, while the other held the controller and played with the settings. I recommend it for women who like powerful, pinpoint clit stimulation. It's a little noisy for a romantic atmosphere, but the feeling is worth the noise.

Do NOT use this vibrator anally - it has no flanged base, and pulling it out with the cord just isn't safe. The buzz may be tempting, but it's not worth a trip to the emergency room.

Both the controller and bullet of the Teardrop are made of odorless hard plastic, while the connecting cord is coated in a softer translucent plastic. The color is less red and a bit more pink than the product photo suggests, and the cord is a lighter pink. The texture is extremely smooth, making the bullet a little hard to grip directly when on higher settings. The bright color, silver plastic ring around the handle, and light weight of the plastic made it feel a little cheap to me-- but it won me over on performance.

The Teardrop's design is simple, but good. I really liked the tapered shape of the bullet which gives this vibrator its name. I was able to use the point directly on my clit, while my girlfriend (known as Elle for the rest of this review) held it on its side for less direct pressure.
The controller seemed a little bulky at first, especially since I'd never used a bullet vibrator with a control pack before, but it fit well in my hand and made it easy to change the controls. It's surprisingly light, and if you turn it upside down looks like an oversized lipstick (Elle's comparison) or a small, sleek microphone (my idea). So in addition to orgasms, you can lipsynch with it.

The cord is longer than my arm. It's well coated in tough plastic, and has little plastic caps sealing off the connections between cord and bullet and between cord and controller. This looks like it helps keep the toy waterproof and working. The whole bottom of the controller, below the silver ring, screws off. There's an O-ring (for waterproofing) underneath and the whole thing looks very secure.

This toy is a little loud for discretion, and obviously not as easy to hide as a cordless bullet, but it could still work for travel - especially if you want power without something the size of a massager.

The controls on this are simple, fun, and easy to use. On the front of the controller are two arrows-- up and down-- and four little lights. These correspond to the four levels of vibration, low to high. You press the up arrow to turn the toy on and increase from one speed to the next. On level one the first red light turns on, on level two the second, and so on. When first checking that this toy worked correctly, Elle and I had fun making the lights go on and off, but they're also useful for playing together. When she was holding the bullet and I was controlling the vibrations, I could glance at the lights to see quickly what level I was on.
To turn the vibrator off, you have to cycle down through the levels using the down arrow. There's no instant off button.

There are no patterns, only constant vibration, but the strength makes up for that. The lowest setting on this vibrator is HIGHER than the highest of the Bullets, the other bullet vibe that I own. Both Elle and I were able to come on the second level, and I found the third and fourth too intense (though she loved them). The vibrations go through the whole bullet, which isn't surprising considering how small it is. So after a few minutes, my fingers were a little numb. But I didn't care.

The Teardrop is listed as waterproof. Living in a dorm, I don't have a bathtub to test it in, but it is definitely splashproof and can go in the shower.

Now, the only real con for me. The noise. Not loud enough to hear through a closed door (I checked) but loud enough to hear through a thin wall. Like the ones in my dorm, or the ones at home.I'd give it three vrooms on the lower settings, but four on the highest. Luckily I got it for Elle as a present, so she's the one who'll be worrying about muffling it.

The Teardrop is pretty easy to care for-- wash is with warm water and soap, or wipe it down with a toy cleaner. Feed it triple As when necessary (I haven't had it long enough to comment on the battery life.) Take the batteries out when storing it to make them last longer.Because it's made of hard plastic it's compatible with all lubes. Elle will be the one storing it, but a bag or box or bedside drawer should work fine.

This toy comes in a cheap plastic box. A clear cheap plastic box with pink lettering. It has some product information, but no directions. Luckily the controls are intuitive enough that you don't really need directions, and the battery compartment is easy to open and clearly labeled.

I requested this as a present for Elle and enjoyed using it with her so much that I'm almost tempted to steal it back. I haven't used it alone, but she assures me (and you) that it works very, very well. And it works very well together also. A win-win situation :)
