Rotating Rabbit Rubber

Cal Exotics Love Diamond is not your average "rabbit" vibrator. Instead of rotating beads, the Love Diamond's insertable shaft swivels and rotates, producing a unique feeling unlike anything I've personally experienced before. Sadly, the clitoral arm is very buzzy and the entire toy is quite loud, which detracted from my overall experience. If you can get past the noise and buzz, this might be the "rabbit" for you, though!

Use

The Love Diamond from Cal Exotics is a rotating "rabbit" toy. Unlike other rotating toys that use beads to stimulate the user, the Love Diamond's entire insertable shaft swivels and rotates in a counter-clockwise manner (or clockwise if looking down at the toy from the head). Imbedded in the shaft of the toy is a hard gem, or "diamond", meant to stimulate the G-spot. The external clitoral "rabbit" stimulator isn't your typical rabbit, either: it doesn't have a "face" and it looks like a manicured hand (to which the gem imbedded in the shaft would be the "diamond ring").

The Love Diamond is designed for vaginal insertion. While the clitoral arm and base do provide somewhat of a stopping point if used anally, the material of the toy is not entirely non-porous, so a condom and care should be used if anal play is attempted. A condom should also be used if sharing the toy.

Material / Texture

The Love Diamond is made from plastic and TPR; the control panel/base is plastic and the insertable shaft and covering for the clitoral arm are TPR. They rate an 8 and 7 on the material safety scale, respectively. Both materials are not entirely non-porous, so care should be taken when using anally or sharing.

The plastic is of course hard, firm and inflexible. The TPR of the shaft and clitoral arm are very squishy and pliable. The clitoral arm is also quite flexible and can be bent back from the toy with ease to make insertion of the toy easier.

There is a pronounced head on the toy, with slight wrinkles on the backside, a "band" that wraps around the back for the "diamond ring", and slight raised "fingers" extending from the clitoral arm. All of that texture is very slight and I personally could not feel any of it internally (though the "fingers" are very low on the toy - below the clitoral arm - and were not inserted). On the front underneath the head is the "gem" inserted into the toy material. On the outside of the toy, over the "gem", is a raised bump with facets to imitate the "gem". This texture I was able to feel internally as it rubbed against my G-spot (I wasn't able to feel the actual "gem", however).

The toy has a very slight odor to it from the TPR material. After several washings, I could smell my soap more than the material. There is no taste to the toy. But there is a bit of drag to the toy and it will pick up lint and hairs very easily.

Design / Shape / Size

The shape of the Love Diamond is not at all discreet and it is somewhat realistic looking - that is if penises were see-thru with a "gem" imbedded in them. The insertable portion is shaped like a penis (with a "gem") and has a discernible head. However, the clitoral arm looks like three manicured fingers pressed together with the other two fingers (or should I say finger and thumb?) spread out and wrapped around the base of the insertable shaft.

The overall shape and design of the toy is reminiscent of other typical "rabbit" style toys (with the exception of the "fingers" instead of an animal clitoral arm). What makes it different is what it does... which I will get into below.

The Love Diamond would be suitable for beginners and more advanced users alike and I think with the clitoral arm being so flexible, that this should fit many anatomies. Storing it in its original packaging doesn't make it easy to hide or to travel with, so a toy pouch or other storage method would make that easier. The sound alone that this thing makes wouldn't make this an ideal travel companion, unless you don't mind everyone knowing what you are doing.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Love Diamond is powered by three AA batteries. The bottom of the toy unscrews and the battery sled has a small, red ribbon to aid in removing it from the toy. The packaging states that the toy is 100% waterproof, so be sure to fully secure the cap back on the bottom to prevent water from entering. I have not personally used this toy a whole lot to see if it drains batteries quickly, though I have used it for long periods of time at once and the batteries I initially used are still working well.

On the front of the control panel are 6 buttons. The uppermost button turns the toy on and off, and a red light indicates that the toy is on. Below the on/off button are the operating buttons; the up and down arrows on the right operate the clitoral arm, the ones on the left operate the rotating shaft and the "F" button in the middle cycles through the functions. There are also two red lights (one above each set of arrow buttons) to indicate when the clitoral arm and shaft are on.

Clicking the up arrow buttons on either side turns the clitoral portion or shaft on at their lowest setting. Each one has 8 different intensities of vibration or rotation, from slight or slow to strong and fast. The "F" function button has three settings: steady vibration (for the clitoral arm) and steady rotation (for the shaft), long vibration with a pulse and a full rotation counter-clockwise before changing direction for a full rotation clockwise, and a quick vibration and pulse with a half rotation in either direction. The pulsation of the clitoral arm is in sync with the changing of direction of the shaft.

The box says that the toy has 200 patterns, etc. What that means is that all the vibration intensities, rotation speeds and the three functions combined will add up and give you all those different patterns. There aren't actually 200 patterns available by clicking the "F" button. Combine a low vibration of the clitoral arm with a fast rotation speed and the half rotation (and pulsation) in each direction and you've got yourself a pattern! Continue as such and see where it takes you. The rotation and vibration can also be used separately and independently from one another as well, or you can simply shut one of them off.

The entire clitoral arm vibrates and is quite buzzy, rather than deep and rumbly. But the strongest vibrations can be felt at the very tip of the arm (or hand). The entire shaft above the base rotates, though I personally noticed when inserting that the outer base rotated as well and I had to hold it tightly to focus more of that rotation internally.

This is absolutely not a quiet toy at all! When both the clitoral arm and shaft rotation are turned up all the way, it can easily be heard through a closed door. Shutting the clitoral arm off barely made a dent in the sound, the rotating shaft is definitely the loudest part of the toy. Shutting the shaft off, I turned the clitoral arm up all the way and that portion was quiet and could not be heard through a door. Inserting the toy doesn't muffle the sound, either. The portion of the toy that makes the sound is what operates it... the base. Since that part is not inserted, it can very easily be heard and is quite loud.

Care and Maintenance

Being 100% waterproof makes cleaning the Love Diamond a breeze. The entire toy can be easily cleaned with soap and water, toy cleaner or wipes. TPR cannot be sanitized by boiling, so if you plan to share the toy or use it anally, cover it with a condom. TPR also picks up plenty of lint and hair, so allow to air dry or gently blot dry before storing. It would also be wise to rinse the toy off before using and of course cleaning before the first use.

Both water and silicone lubes are compatible with the Love Diamond. The original packaging can be used for storage if you have the space, though I personally hand sew drawstring pouches for all my toys that don't come with one.

Packaging

The packaging for the Love Diamond is not discreet. The box is rather large and shows several pictures of the toy on all sides, along with descriptions of its functions. The actual toy sits inside a flimsy plastic tray. Included is Cal Exotics standard sheet of instructions in various languages, telling how to insert batteries in their toys.

The packaging would do for storage or gift giving. I feel that if you are comfortable enough to give someone a sex toy, the packaging shouldn't matter. Personally, I'd rather receive something in its original packaging and toss it at my discretion.

Experience

The Love Diamond was actually my first "rabbit" toy. I had received the Rampant Rabbit when it was being offered free with any order over $70 some time ago, and I simply could not use it because the "rabbit" clitoral arm was very inflexible and painfully clamped and pinched down on my clit. In the trash it went! The Love Diamond is by far a much nicer toy and I was actually able to use it, thus it becomes my first rabbit.

I had some initial fears about the hard "gem" imbedded into the toy. I do not like texture or hard bits rubbing or being inserted inside of me and I worried that the "gem" would be painful. Thankfully it is not! The shaft of the Love Diamond is very squishy and I could barely feel the gem's hardness while pushing on it. Thankfully again, the texture over top of the gem actually feels nice rubbing against my G-spot.

Because I've never successfully used a rabbit toy with rotating beads, I can't compare that feeling to the feeling of the entire swiveling shaft of this toy. But I can say that it definitely is a unique experience. I'm used to thrusting and tapping, that is what my G-spot likes and responds to. I wasn't sure whether I would like the rubbing on my G-spot before using the Love Diamond, but I enjoyed it. This isn't a "wham bam, thank you ma'am" type of toy. It definitely takes a bit more time for me to work up to an orgasm with G-spot rubbing rather than thrusting. If you're the same, you'll really want to take some time and enjoy the ride because I didn't find this to be an instant orgasm machine.

As for the clitoral arm... I could take or leave it. I prefer deep, rumbly and quite powerful vibrations on my clit or it will do nothing for me. While I was able to position it so it hit where I wanted, the buzzy vibrations weren't really my thing. However, the clitoral arm is very flexible and far-reaching, so I feel most users will benefit from its placement.

My favorite part of this toy is definitely the swiveling, rotating shaft and the textured nub over the gem (though I personally couldn't really feel the actual gem all that much). Sadly, inserting the toy caused the outer control base to rotate as well. I don't think I'm overly tight, but I had to hold the base firmly to direct most of the rotating inside. Also, that control base is what houses the motor and what makes all the noise, so this is a very loud toy. The sound doesn't really distract me from playing, but I definitely have to make sure I have quite a bit of privacy when I whip this toy out.

As a first rabbit, I enjoyed this toy as much as I could. It doesn't produce instant orgasms and its noise will keep it from being used often. While it took more time to climax, I preferred using it without turning the clitoral arm on. The swiveling shaft is a unique sensation that I think a lot of women would enjoy. But overall, I can honestly only give this toy three stars. It is a little expensive and its material is not the absolute safest, plus it requires batteries and is very loud. I don't hate this toy, but I don't love it. The interesting sensation of the rotating shaft isn't enough to overcome the noise and buzzy clitoral arm... I like to be able to use my toys whenever I want, not only when I'm home alone (which is hardly ever).
Follow-up commentary
My Love Diamond doesn't get that much use. It is just too loud for my living situation. I do still enjoy the rotating shaft, but traditional rabbits like this just don't quite do it for me as well as more "artistic" rabbits do, like the Jopen Vanity Vr6.
