Flutter - rabbit vibrator discontinued by Evolved Novelties - review by K101

OK, so the title of my review is corny, but I couldn't resist. Flutter is from Evolved Novelties Slender line. It's a dual action vibrator with a large butterfly for clitoral stimulation.

Flutter is inserted and the butterfly attachment stimulates the clitoris and for some, the labi and vulva as well. Since Flutter is a simple rabbit style vibrator instead of being overwhelming, it's a great first time rabbit style vibrator. Also, the pretty purple and delicate butterfly make this less intimidating. The size isn't large, but it feels very thick to me. It was the perfect size since I am not a size queen. I still think this would suit someone who prefers a medium thickness and even an advanced user could thoroughly enjoy Flutter.

Flutter is an amazing toy for solo play, but my partner and I prefer using our toys for foreplay. Flutter makes an outstanding toy for couple play.

Flutter is made of TPR (Thermoplastic Rubber). The adorable metal tin that Flutter comes housed in says that Flutter is body safe. The butterfly is nice and jiggly like jello, but not as squishy as jelly toys. The shaft feels firm and oh-so-slick. It's firmer than jelly, but has more give to it than silicone. It's a perfect alternative to jelly and now that I own a few of Evolved's dual action vibrators, I have grown less fond of the dreadful jelly! Also unlike jelly, this sleek little thing has no smell and no taste.

The long shaft is so smooth and slick to the touch with no drag, but it slips and glides so nicely when paired with a lubricant. I like using Liquid Silk with Flutter.

Clitoral and a little G-spot stimulation make Flutter a favorite of mine. The slightly curved tip provides only a little G-spot stimulation, but for those with shallow hot spots like me, may find that this hits it just enough to get you excited! While holding the end, you can angle it up and reach the G-spot better.

The shaft feels longer to me than most of my vibrators. With 5 inches to use internally, a little warm up may be needed before being able to insert it fully. I love the length and while the 1 1/4 inch diameter isn't exactly size queen material, I find that it's right at the perfect size for me. It's thick enough that I'm able to really feel it, but any bigger and I believe it would be slightly uncomfortable. The forgiving TPR and super slick feel makes this more comfortable than a silicone toy this size.

The butterfly attachment is cute and I don't feel weird having the butterfly cover my lady bits like I do with other animal attachments. I don't think I've ever seen a rabbit style vibrator that had such a large clitoral attachment. With the large butterfly, it gives you a better chance of it actually fitting your anatomy. The butterfly's wings cover my labia majora (outer lips) and the underside covers the labia and clitoris. It's rare for me to find a rabbit style vibrator that stimulates this wide of an area. The anntenae, when on the highest setting jiggle and tease the clitoris.


For me, I would call this an average, medium size. Beginners and advanced users could both appreciate the simplicity of this.

While Flutter does store perfectly in its metal tin and takes up little space, I personally don't think it's the best choice for travelling. It could be thrown in a medium purse or suitcase, but it's not discrete and it does scream "I am a vibrator!".

There is a bullet located in the butterfly's abdomen. It's quite slim, but the vibrations carry thoughout the entire butterfly, even the wide wings. The butterfly's length (from antennae to butt) is about 3 1/2 inches.

There's another larger bullet located in the tip of the vibrator. The beautiful purple is transparent so I'm able to see that the bullet is about 1 1/2 inches long in the tip. It's wide and surprisingly carries amazingly throughout the thick TPR.

Normally only 3 speeds would make me wary of a vibrator, but Evolved usually has what I consider to be high quality vibrations. All three speeds are steady vibrations. First speed is actually nice and for my sensitive areas, it works nice as a tease. The second setting works well for a nice tease as well, but can also deliver a slow orgasm. The third is usually what I end up going to after a few minutes. It's not so intense that I can't handle direct clitoral stimulation with, but after a while it is. It can be felt well without directly touching the clitoris for me.

I have a tough time describing the vibrations. In my opinion, Evolved Novelties has a unique vibration. It may just be me, but no other vibrator ever feels the same. They aren't high pitched and buzzy, but are kind of deep and rumbly. To me, they feel more intense than most "deep and rumby" vibrations. They're amazing! This is a great "go-to-toy" for me. It's easy to use and stimulates all the right areas without much effort. For those that find thick silicone to be too thick to provide the right amount of intensity, but find jelly to be too buzzy, this is a perfect in between. These are my favorite vibrations, if that makes sense?

The controls are easy to use. There's a little, squishy button at the bottom of the battery cap to turn it on, off and cycle through the 3 speeds. It's one button for everything. I love how easy it is to use and find that with only 3 speeds, it's easy to find the one you want and easy to turn off if an "emergency" occurs.

The only problem with the control is the location. I remember hearing many people say when the buttons are located at the bottom of the toy, it can cause you to accidentally hit the button while in use. I never had that problem, but this one and Short And Sweet does do that. It's only happened a few times while I was using it and didn't totally ruin my fun, but it takes me a few minutes to learn to reposition my hand. Wrapping your hand around the pointy base will prevent you from accidentally pressing the button.

My favorite rabbit style vibrator has been Cliterrifif Cup for a very long time. No other rabbit style vibrator could measure up to that one and now the Cup has met it's match! I still love it, but I like that Flutter has deeper vibrations and that the butterfly vibrates on all of my lady bits rather than just my clitoris.

This baby is great for dorm use since it's quiet, but it also makes a perfect water toy. The vibrations aren't diluted from the water. Maybe I'm the only one who feels vibrations are less intense in water, but if there's another out there then this will suffice. It does very well in the water. I've never seen signs of leakage. The thick O-ring is durable.

I like the cap. I haven't had problems with it cross threading. The cap comes to a point like most Evolved's toys do. It screws on, feels slightly velvety and has a battery pack inside that hold 2 AAA batteries. It doesn't suck down batteries. I've never had to replace mine yet and it's been used several times, never less than 20 minutes. I also like that it can be used for a good while without heating up. It seems to be made well and of great quality.

This is one of my quiter vibes. I believe it's almost as quiet as my Cliterrific Cup. It can be heard in the same room, but not behind a closed door and the lowest setting can't be heard through covers and a TV or air running.

Flutter is easy to clean. Since it's waterproof, cleanup can be done quickly and without worries of left behind germs so scrub away! I use a mild soap and very warm water. It's slick with no texture besides the back of the butterfly's wings having a few creases. This means there's no toothbrush needed to get in between nooks and crannies (I've always wanted to use that word!). Toy cleaner can be used, but no dishwashing or boiling!

This is a lint and hair lover. It isn't nearly as bad as jelly, but it's impossible to keep lint off.
-Make sure you take out the batteries and screw the cap back on before washing.
-Take out batteries when it's not in use. Batteries LOVE to bust inside toys. I've had 2 do it.
-Don't store in contact with other toys.

Both water and silicone based lubricants can be used with Flutter.

Even with the tin case, Flutter stores nicely and I can't get over those beautiful conatiners!
I am so fond of Flutter that I leave it on the top of my bookshelf next to my bed instead of under the bed with the rest. It's clearly a vibrator, but on the top shelf it doesn't get noticed.

Flutter comes packaged in a gorgeous white metal tin with a clear, durable plastic lid. It has two metal clasp like things for closing. It's a sturdy container and can be used for long term storage. It comes with a plastic insert to hold Flutter in place. This can be removed. I doubt I will ever remove my Flutter or Short and Sweet from the adorable tins. The clasps snap down and lock the lid on well.

Just the look of the vibrator in the container makes me want to give it as a gift so badly! It's not extremely discrete, but is tasteful and doesn't have tacky nude images or words. It has a lot of useful info on the back.

On the lid it says "Waterproof Flutter" and "3 speed - body safe Slender". It also has a 1 year warranty sticker. Yay for the warranty!

The back has a lot of information. It has a paragraph about Flutter and below that says:
"3 stimulating speeds. Easy push button controls. Phthalates free and body safe. Satin smooth coated controls. Hygenic medical-grade TPR. Shower friendly. Jelly like material flexes and conforms. Ultra powerful motor soothes and seduces. Maximum noise."

Then you have the whole "novelty only, should never be used other than externally" disclaimer. That can be a real turn off for some.

The side of the container says "Love is Back". Cute!

I don't have any complaints about Flutter. Having the button somewhere besides the bottom would make it easier to use without accidentally pressing it during use, but it wasn't something I consider a con or problem. It's only been hit by accident 3 times so it's nothing I will knock stars off for.

Flutter quickly made it to the top of my box. In fact, Flutter never even seen my box, instead it has its own place on my shelf along with Short and Sweet. I enjoy everything about Flutter and my partner enjoys using it on me. We use this for "warm up" and I think it's great for that, but also perfect for solo use.
