Before the first use it is always wise to clean the device. The egg vibe is easy to clean for a number of reasons:

1. It has a silky touch to it. I believe that the vibrator is covered with a layer of silicone. Which gives it a silk like touch. The silicone is similar to silicone cooking tools - whatever they come in touch with does not stick very much to them. And therefore the same is true for this device.

2. You can [and definitely should] unplug the cord that attaches it to the controls/battery pack. This is easy to accomplish, since the cord connector is like a headphone connector jack. There are 6 small red lights underneath the button - the number of red lights turned on represents the number of the pulse type currently active. After the 6th pulse type, the device - and all its lights - turns off.
