This awesome little egg is packed with all kinds of fun and power

This toy is perfect for anyone who wants to have some easy, straight-forward clitoral orgasms either alone or with a partner. It definitely gets the job done.

extremely useful review
When my first very simple bullet vibe broke, I had to go shopping for a new one, and this time I wanted something with a little more oomph to it. My searches here on the site led me to the Silk touch egg vibe. It already had good reviews, had some interesting extra functions, and was in my price range.

The egg has a slight honeycomb shape, with a tiny handle where the cord comes out. This comes in handy for holding and directing the egg without having your fingers absorb all the vibrations, and also for protecting where the cord joins the egg. The toy can be used for slight penetration/g-spot stimulation, but it never did much for me in that way (but nor have other toys.) My main attraction to the toy was for clitoral stimulation.

The egg is connected to the controller via a spiraled cord (like a telephone cord... remember those?) that can be completely straightened with some effort, if you find having to stretch it to reach farther an annoyance. The cord plugs into the controller via a stereo-style jack, which is a great feature for any vibrating toys that attach to a remote, because it gives you the option of replacement if one part of the toy (either the egg or the controller) stops working, you can buy another toy that uses the same kind of jack, and mix and match.

The controller itself has a familiar shape... it's much like a computer mouse. One large silver button is used to push through the different functions, from a single solid vibration, all the way to erratic rhythmic pulses, and everything in-between. The button is very easy to push, and so if you're wanting to stick with a single function, put the controller out of the way where you won't accidentally hit it. On the bright side of that though, the button can be manipulated with a nose or chin or elbow, if you should find yourself in a situation where your hands are busy/full/tied. A series of lights at the bottom indicate which function you're on. A scroll wheel (just like a mouse scroll wheel) between the button and the light indicators controls the strength and intensity of the vibrations.

The vibrations this toy puts out are VERY strong. If the batteries I have in it are very fresh, I keep the scroll wheel turned all the way down, and may only raise the intensity a little in the heat of things. Because the toy is so strong, I can continue using it with little problem even after the batteries start to go: I simply raise the intensity up with the scroll wheel.
Two things will happen when the batteries start to die: The toy may skip functions, for example if you're on function #1 and want to go to #2, you hit the button once, but instead it jumps to function #4 or something. Or it will start randomly turning off after only being on about 10 seconds. These signs mean it's time to change the batteries. The toy will be back to its perfect self with a set of fresh batteries. Standard batteries work okay for a while with this toy, but if you plan to use it a lot, invest in rechargeables.

Some have complained annoyance at this and other toys that require you to push through all the functions to get to a specific one and/or to turn it off. It is a slight annoyance, but doesn't detract from the awesomeness of this toy. It's not hard to memorize six functions and remember how many times you need to tap the button to get to one or the other. And if you really need to turn it off in a hurry, you can simply just pull the cord from the controller.

Cleaning is very easy. The toy is hard plastic with a "velvet" texture. I simply unplug it from the controller and take it to the sink and clean it with a little handsoap and water, paying special attention to the grooves, since gunk can accumulate in there. Rubbing with a towel or fingernail does the job.
Experience
I've used this toy in a variety of ways, both by myself and with my partner. The small size and nifty little handle on the toy make it perfect to use in any position or situation where one of you has access to your clitoral area. In missionary sex, I can tuck it snugly in place, where it will stay for hands-free pleasure, though if things get particularly rough, the poor little egg can be totally jarred out of place and has to be adjusted.
With girl-on-top, I can either position the toy on my partner's pelvis so that I come in contact with it on every downstroke. Or, for better stimulation, just hold it in place with one hand while I go.
My favourite time to use it is during doggystyle. I love the position, but it doesn't provide any clitoral stimulation on its own, so I just hold my egg in place and ride on the waves of pleasure. I've had toe-curling, eye-rolling orgasms with this thing.
Follow-up commentary
How long has it been since I got this toy? Two years? I've finally managed to wear it out. Like my last attached-bullet vibe, this one is dying in the same way: there's a short in the connection where the bullet attaches to its cord. It still works... if I hold it at the right angle. If it gets turned around or the cord gets bent the wrong way, it simply stops. I still find that I can use this toy just fine in most of the ways I used it before, but positioning it between my partner and I during missionary sex is no longer possible, as I can't keep it at the magic angle to stay on with all that pressure and movement going on. As long as it's at the right angle though, it's fine and all the power is still there, so there's no way I'm throwing this out.

Because it has a jacked controller, I decided to buy a cheap ($7) replacement bullet elsewhere. This was a standard silver bullet, a little larger than the Silk Touch egg. And nowhere near as powerful. I am able to use it and get the job done, but only when I absolutely have to. The vibrations seem to be much more diffuse, and I have to turn the power way up on the control unit to get enough sensation out of it to get me off.

Also, while I'm here, a note I failed to mention in the original review: I have mixed feelings about the velvet-cote plastic this toy is made from. It's really nice, but does create slightly more drag than a hard plastic toy would. I find that if my clitoral area dries up at all during a session, I absolutely have to use lube with this toy for comfort. It's not enough to stop me from buying more velvet-cote toys, just something to keep in mind.
