Silky G Is A Hit Or A Miss

While not for a beginner, this toy is a must have for those looking for firm, pinpoint, deep rumbly vibrations. The toy is a little bit larger than I found necessary and the tin was cheaper looking than I'd hoped. While this toy may have more of a niche market, it does really excel at what it aims to do.

Use

The Silky G by Evolved Novelties is intended as a g-spot vibrator. Because of its highly pointed tip, that's about all this toy is appropriate for. It doesn't provide much stimulation to the nipples or the body, and unless you like REALLY pinpointed stimulation on your clitoris, it's not going to do much for you there either.

Material / Texture

The Silky G is made out of plastic, which is nonporous and phthalate-free; however, it is only an 8 on the EF safety scale. This makes it less safe than silicone, metal or wood.

Because this toy is made out of plastic, it has a very hard rigid feeling which some people love and some people hate in a g-spot vibrator.

Personally, I found that while located on my g-spot with the vibrations going, the firmness and added pressure due to the lack of give in material was actually quite pleasant. However, I found it awkward to insert, and that any motion close to thrusting or anytime it went past my g-spot was either highly unpleasant or slightly painful.

Design / Shape / Size

This toy is quite long, but I personally find it to be a waste of material. Because of the extreme point, I would never use this toy for thrusting or put it past my G-spot vaginally; this means that at any given moment there are several inches of unused vibrator.

The toy is about 7 inches long and about 1.5 of those inches are devoted to the base of the vibrator that twists off to allow the insertion of batteries. That leaves about 6 inches of vibrator for insertion into you. However, the point it so firm and large that the toy just feels awkward when it's not stimulating your g-spot. When I tried to thrust slightly with it, I found it quite painful. I really only use maybe 3 inches of this, which makes the other 3 inches pretty wasted materials.

I personally feel this toy is unnecessarily long and would be easier to store and more discreet if they'd made it shorter as I don't know anyone who is going to be using this toy for thrusting.

The pointed tip makes about a 45 degree angle from the tip to where it would lie if it was a traditional vibe and extends around an .5 inch. This is a very noticeable protrusion for better or worse.

Functions / Performance / Controls

This toy is pretty simplistic in its function.

At the bottom of the toy is a hard plastic button. A single click will turn the vibe on to a low vibration setting. A second click will go to medium. A third will take you to high vibration. A fourth will turn the toy off.

While this toy doesn't have any creative pulse or escalation function, what it does have that many toys fail to offer is rumbly vibrations. Rumbly vibrations are my preferred form of vibration, and to me it really is a selling point on this vibe.

Rumbly vibes tend to withstand and be better for those who like more pressure applied during sessions. I think that because this toy does provide rather firm pressure to the G-spot, it's a good selling point of this toy. If one really wanted to they could rotate the point outwards and use the stem of the vibrator to stimulate the G-spot as well.

I found all 3 of the settings to be quite satisfactory, varying from about 2 bees on the lowest setting to about 4 on the highest. All of the functions were quite a bit loud, so it would be necessary to play some sort of music or something when using the toy if you wanted to go unnoticed.

I didn't have any troubles with clicking the button on the base during use. Perhaps if I had used this toy for thrusting it would have been an issue. But because I found this toy to be awkward for thrusting, I simply held the toy by a bottom inch or so of the vibe and didn't have any issues with accidental clicks of the button mid-use.

This toy takes a single AA battery. This is a great point to the toy because pretty much everyone has a pack of AA batteries lying around their house at any given point. I didn't find this toy to particularly be a battery guzzler.
    • Easy to use
    • Not enough variety
    • Powerful

Care and Maintenance

This toy can simply be washed with warm soapy water or wiped with an EF sexy toy wipe to clean. Plastic is a relatively low-maintenance material, and therefore storage is at your discretion. You can put it in its storage case if you like. It is a rather nice tin case with a plastic (not foam as some people have asserted) shell that it sits in. Personally, I really like tin in general and so I really like this box, especially the clever snaps on the ends. However, this is a bit of a larger toy and the case may add unnecessary volume to someone looking for a more discreet, easy to hid vibe. If that's the case, you can simply throw this in drawer if you really wanted to because of it's simple to care for material.

Packaging

Personally, I just really tins in general. So the fact that this toy comes with its own tin storage case is just really cool to me. However, I have one major issue with the storage case. I read in other reviews that the toy came with a foam shell. However, my toy was stored within the toy in a plastic shell similar to one that would come with disposable packaging. I found that this really cheapened the storage and made it significantly less nice gift-wise. The toy does have little bars that you pull up to snap into a groove of the upper tip to lock the toy. This is a sturdy way to close the tin, so there's no need to worry about it falling out.

The tin does come with the words Evolved printed on the front in large letters; it is transparent so the vibe can be seen through the box. This doesn't add much to the discreetness of the toy.

However, I'm a big fan of tins in general, so I was simply won over by that.
    • Good for storage
    • Would make a nice gift

Personal comments

I think it's worth noting that this toy is something that's going to be really divisive among users according to their bodies and their preferences. If you like pinpoint, finger-like stimulation of the g-spot, this could be the toy for you. However, if you prefer a more flexible, broader g-spot stimulation, this is definitely going to be a disappointment for you.
