Pocket rocket discontinued

Simple and Functional.

In all, I'd say this was good for a beginner. It's not my favorite, and I see myself replacing it soon with something quieter, or with more functions. I would recommend this to someone looking for a simple, medium-strong vibe, and I don't regret getting one.

Use

This pocket rocket was my first vibrator; I chose it because of it's non-intimidating size and simple design. It works well all over, keeping in mind that the iVibe is an exclusively external vibrator, and is not for insertion; I have heard that this is uncomfortable when attempted, due to its shape and material. It is not waterproof, and should not get wet.

It's fairly strong, but also fairly loud.

Material / Texture

The iVibe is made out of very hard, smooth plastic. The body is transparent, and has a slight matte texture. It has a clear, removable cap with slightly more give than the body, but it's still fairly stiff. The tip underneath has three metal beads set in a triangle.

Design / Shape / Size

The iVibe is a little less than 4 1/4 inches long, with the cap on. With a circumference of 2 1/2" for the handle, and 3" near the tip, this toy is not quite pocket sized for me. It has a decent weight to it, and fits well in my hand.

It is discreet, and I once heard of someone purchasing an iVibe because they mistook it for a body massager. I wouldn't leave mine out, but I don't think it would be embarrassing if someone found it.

Functions / Performance / Controls

It turns on by twisting the handle. The Off position is in the middle, with On to one side, and Open on the other. (Like this: |Open|Off|On| ). Especially when turning the toy off in a hurry, I sometimes twist past "off" and open the battery compartment. It doesn't happen too often, so I wouldn't consider it a fatal flaw, but it is annoying. Though the controls are simple, it's difficult for me to turn on or off one-handed.

The vibrations are even and strong. They do travel up the handle, and make my fingers tingle a bit, but it's mostly concentrated at the tip. You have the option of two textures: With the removable cap, which is covered with little bumps, and without, which is smooth. To me, it feels like the cap gives you a stronger surface vibration, and without it feels deeper and more penetrating. I didn't think much of the cap at first, until I tried it on my nipples; I hadn't thought they were sensitive to vibrations before!

I would say it has decent battery life, but as soon as the battery starts slowing down, the vibrations get weaker. This might be standard for battery toys; I don't know. It didn't bother me much, but for someone who needs full power, it might be irritating.

The biggest issue, for me, is the noise. I do not live alone, and noise carries rather well from room to room. When I first got my iVibe, I did an experiment to see its noise level. I turned it on and put it under a few pillows, and went into the next room to see how loud it was. I was disappointed that I could still hear it, though I wouldn't say it was loud. You probably had to be listening for it, but I would play some music if being discreet is important to you.

Care and Maintenance

I've found that wipes work well to clean it, although there are some crevices that can be tough to get. The plastic cap could make cleaning easier if you don't mind keeping it on, because it can be removed and scrubbed with soap, or submerged.

I know I've said it before, but don't get the iVibe wet! Mine got soaked accidentally, and although I took it apart and dried it, the motor rusted! (I'm sorry, I don't recall how long it took to rust). When turned on, it made an awful screeching sound. I almost threw it away, but it was my only toy, so I decided to try fixing it. I pulled out the white plastic tip, and put some oil on the motor, and ran it for a minute. It runs smoothly now, but I would strongly recommend avoiding that situation!

Experience

I've had mine for over a year, I think, and it's held up well. I don't use it much anymore, but it's nice for a quickie. I've found that sometimes I have trouble getting that last push from this toy, and I always have to do a lot of twisting and grinding with it. This is most likely just personal preference.
